The Buckhead Marta Transit Station is one those Open ceiling stations that make them less depressing. The art pieces on this station are made of ceramic and spread all across the station. Using light colors that just make the station more cozy and nice to be in.

Well lit station with easy entrance and exit in both directions. Signage could be better, but still solid. Ticket vending machines and turnstiles at the street level at both ends. One level down by escalator, stairs or elevator to platform level. Buckhead is an island platform with the tracks on both sides. It is on the RED line between Lindbergh Center towards the airport and Medical Center toward North Springs. This is the first station that is not on the GOLD line.

One of the best stations Marta has to do it being upscale if that is possible for a transit station and super clean. It sits in the heart of Buckhead lateral to Highway 400 and Peachtree Street. Maggianos, Corner Bakery, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Del Friscos Grille and various other shopping outlets. This is the creme of the crop. The only downfall is walking a distance to the exits.

Who needs a car if you are in downtown Atlanta. The MARTA (an electric train) runs from the airport to downtown Atlanta. It cost $2.50 each way. Very clean and safe. The trains run on a regular basis, usually every 15 min or so. It certainly beats being in traffic and is a great alternative to and from college he airport. Check it out!

This cuts out the $50 a day for hotel parking, the Doraville station has surface & parking deck areas, two nights was $16. Lenox station is cheaper FYI. I had only rode Marta one other time before this and it was over 10 years prior, I was mainly traveling solo on Marta this time. For the Doraville station be sure not to park in the front parking as this is NOT overnight and you will be towed. The ticketed parking is just beside with minimal security. Doraville is the gold line that goes into Lenox where the race starts; our stop was Peachtree center. The trick to going from Peachtree back to Lenox is to know that both red & gold run on same track, which I didn't. I got on the train saying North Springs and ended up at Medical Center before realized, rode back to Lindbergh then gold to Lenox. The train itself is minimally occupied unless a big event is going on. It was somewhat clean as meaning no visible trash. There are homeless persons all around the escalators underground and you may get accosted on the platform but just be smart. I put the Breeze mobile app on and bought 3 day pass for $16, my main issue was the QR code picking up on the scanner. I usually come here when I don't want my mom to come all the way to the airport to pick me up. The Doraville Station is exactly what it is -- it's one of the safer stations I would say. But it's really nothing special. MARTA itself needs a lot of work and it's really outdated. The last time I was here, the elevator was broken so I had to carry hella luggage down the stairs and that was pretty disastrous. But it is what it is. If you're looking for affordable transportation to the airport and you don't wanna ask for a ride or can't find a ride, at least find a ride here so you can go from here.

Horrible Experience. Incompetence at its highest!…read more If you are an out-of-towner, trying to catch a train to the airport for the first time, be aware of hometown incompetence. I missed my flight because I could not get past the gate. Is it a simple task? By a ticket somewhere? That ticket allows you to pass the gate to board the train. Seems logical. However, Atlantans, I've found, get hedged in this. You have to be in the know to know what is happening. If not, you are just an outsider, and you will pay the price of inconvenience and not knowing. I get to the Dunwoody Train Station to catch a train to the airport. First problem I see is I see the gates to enter, but first question that pops up is, where do I go to purchase the ticket, pass, or whatever it is that I need? Am I to guess? I see three (3) electronic screens to the left, then to the right, some 20 ft away, I see some more - maybe four huge electronic boards. So, the first question I ask is why there isn't a huge sign that says TRAIN TICKETS to the airport purchase here. No, I went to the left, trying to figure out from those screens - wasted 15 minutes and had to press the intercom only to find out these screens are for PARKING ONLY! Why doesn't a sign say so? Go to the right only to be met with a barrage of silver buttons - 50 of them. Okay, what should I press and what should I get? A paper ticket? A pass? All I want is a train ticket. I put the credit card in to get what I thought was a train ticket to the airport, but it wouldn't take my card. I tried cash - it didn't work. This big confusing board of silver buttons. All that is needed is a simple label to the left or right of the buttons saying TRAIN TO AIRPORT. Later, I learned there are videos showing you step by step how to get Marta Passes or buy tickets. But remember, I am an out-of-towner--NO ONE TOLD me there was a video to watch prior to getting to the confusing station. It should be simple enough for anyone who gets there to follow the simple steps. And, that is the other thing - absolutely, NO HELP. Where is the person on the Intercom to help me figure it out and press the right buttons to get a ticket? This is southern Atlanta, and they don't think about how to make this process easy for out-of-towners and first-timers. They assume everybody's watched the videos!

Because of this, it's the busiest train station, based on entries and exits, in the MARTA system. Employees try to keep this station clean, but with so many train riders passing through, the station is sometimes dirty. I personally have been in this station only to transfer to another train going in a different direction, and have never physically entered or exited the station using the gates. In this station, the north/south trains of the Red line and the north-east/south trains of the Gold line run on the tracks in the lower level. The east/west trains of the Green and the Blue lines run on the tracks in the upper level. Multiple escalators, stairways and elevators allow MARTA customers to move from one level to the other. Just a word of caution: If you're slow moving and you're transferring to another level, wait until most of the crowd gets ahead of you. Otherwise, you may get pushed and jostled by people hurrying to get by you. This is especially true if you're transferring to another train either before or after an event at either State Farm Arena, Mercedes-Benz Stadium or Georgia World Congress Center. Signage is accurate and helpful, but you have to know in which direction you want to travel to prevent confusion. Electronic signs in the stations let riders know the approximate remaining wait times for the arriving trains. A PA announcement lets everyone in the station which train is arriving. Both levels in this station are well lit, and there are few concrete benches to sit on while waiting for trains to arrive. Just like in every train station, MARTA customers need to ensure their safety by being aware of their surroundings and not stand too close to the train tracks.
