Just moved from the city and def miss my Hmart visits, but glad this one is nearby and has all the yummy korean and other asian products to fulfill my korean and other asian cooking needs! I felt like the produce section was a bit limited but great affordable prices, but def beware for the sale items. A lot of their sale items were expired or about to be expired. For example, saw Blueberries for 1.99 or $2+ but def looked like mold was starting to grow on them and the soft tofu on sale was expired by several weeks. Def check your items before you buy, but other than that their fresh baked items, hot n ready assorted kimbap were a delight and other frozen products and snacks had a great selection. read more

Lots of good authentic Korean snacks and goods. The ready made food looked tasty, but I will say that the produce didn't look as good as competing grocery stores. We were in the area for dinner and saw this Mega Mart that my friend had told me about and decided to check it out. It's located at the Fremont Plaza with ample parking out front. The store is spacious, bright, clean and well organized. As you enter the store there's a small fresh fruit, bakery and prepared meals section. On the right side of the store, there's a fresh and frozen seafood section. Fresh produce and frozen section in the back of the store. The store has a large selection of non-perishables, like packaged noodles, condiments, can goods, rice and grains. Overall, a good Korean supermarket that should carry the Korean items and ingredients that you need. It's a smaller scale compared to H Mart or 99 Ranch. read more

The cooked food is to die for. Prices Are reasonable. I come almost every week. You can also order Korean Japchae and Bulgogi for parties. Wish I live in Fremont still. A great place to visit for Hotpot sliced meats & a huge array of Korean products. We bought a variety of boxed milk drinks: Binggrae Strawberry & Coffee. The Strawberry was a better choice than the coffee, but honestly this company is more known for their Banana drink. Pulmuone Potato & Mozzerella Corn Dog- love the selection of frozen snacks & Pulmuone is a trusted brand. Pretty authentic for a take home package & more reasonable than going to a shop. There is also a nice snack table with all sorts of prepared foods, just make sure you go before 3pm for a better selection. Bibigo Kimchee Cheese Rice Ball- a crunchy rice exterior with a spicy Kimchee kick. I was partial to this Rice Ball but my daughter enjoyed it, so it's worth a try. I am victim to a targeted ad on Facebook and Instagram. I also love me a Korean/Asian market and happened to be in the area so I drove on by to see what Mega Mart is about. Mega Mark took over what once was a sprouts. Plenty of parking, though tight. Upon walking in, you're greeted with a clean facility and a well stocked bakery section. When it comes to hot food; however, there wasn't much of a selection. What I love about Asian markets is the variety of meat and seafood. Mega Mart fell short on both. The meats looked questionable and appear to have been packaged a day or two ago. The pork belly wasn't the bright red color which indicates freshness; instead, it was more on the brown side. They didn't have much of a selection for seafood either with only a small tub of ice for the fish. Most of the items were in the frozen section. Adding onto my disappointment was this obnoxious sound coming from either their speakers or fridge. It sounded like a screech that never ended and it was the second reason as to why I cut my shopping short. read more

Total hidden gem as this used to be another grocery store. I was happy to find today there were a number of gluten free options in their bakery. Lots of fresh produce, freshly made Korean and Japanese food (take-out) to carry out and go, and lots of other food options, items you'd normally find at H-Mart, or 99 Ranch. The space is large and clean. Service staff is normal and pretty standard. I'd come here again, the product is actually fairly cheap compared to other places! read more

I can't believe that we have unknowingly driven past this supermarket for decades only to discover them on yelp! Was hoping to shop at their sister location but it was too far and this was on the way home. Impressed by some of the sale items (we got some delicious honey chips for $1 when they sell for $4 elsewhere). But was amazed by the flash sale they have at the end of the day on some of the perishable items. Hot/deli foods were not on par with restaurant quality, but the food wasn't too bad and was def better than any other supermarket. Our fav was the short rib rice bowl which was tasty and tender. Dragon roll was not bad but the eel was a bit rubbery and harder to chew. Pork buns were very meaty and not too bad. Japchae was just ok, a bit on the salty side. They have super cute cream puff pastries that I was so tempted to buy had I not already had a ton of dessert at home. When I have more time, would love to come back and shop thru the other departments to see what food they have. So happy we have found a hidden gem. read more

Mega Mart is a Korean specialty grocery store that takes over the old Sprouts in Fremont. I was super excited to see the company grow, as they recently rebranded the K Market in Sunnyvale, where I find tons of the best groceries for the best prices. Unfortunately, this new location is not quite there yet. The available stock of a lot of meats, produce, and frozen items were very limited. And the prices of the meats were almost double of what I usually see. I couldn't justify paying those prices. I decided to skip the seafood section all together after this. My cart is usually full by then end of a trip, but this time it was barely halfway full (or half empty :p) They have a neat section of hot prepared foods like kimchi fried rice and donkatsu, and a temperature controlled section for banchan and kimbap. Besides food, they also have a section for Korean skincare products with brands like Innisfree. Overall, the store itself has a ton of space for more products so hopefully they ramp up the options within this new year. read more

I always thought H-mart and Manna Oriental Market was expensive compared to other asian markets, but they are both definitely cheaper than Mega Mart. Honestly just an ok place and would only come if I direly need a thing or 2 without driving all the way to San Jose for H-mart. Pocky is like $2.50-$3. Soju is almost $6. And you could get these basic stuff for cheaper at another asian grocery store. Maybe their hot food selection is kinda ok, but I've seen the hot food prices at the H-mart in San Jose and its $1-$2 cheaper for the exact same thing they sell. Selection is alright. I dont think they have a lot of things in comparison to H-mart, but they definitely do in comparison to Manna. Anyways, came and bought a cute cream puff for $5.25. I definitely don't think it was worth since it was so small. They had like pikachu, pig, cookie monster, and minion cream puffs as selections, but most of them looked messed up and not really like the character. I got lucky with the pig one I got since out of like 10, it was the only one that wasnt distorted. Not so sure about the taste cuz I got it for friend as a gift. read more

This is an OK Korean mart. I have to rate it down due to my disappointment in not even coming close the quality of H Mart or any of the Korean markets in Santa Clara. These established Korean markets have been around for decades and Mega Mart could only muster this meager version. It is appropriate that they took over a "sprouts" market. The deli section is a c minus at best. Not even coming close to any real korean market. I am most disappointed by this aspect over all it's other failures. The baked goods are d quality. The sushi items and kim bap try hard but seem to lack the flavor of any of it's competitors. Manna in the same shopping area had far superior banchan items but was now forced to close due to Mega Mart. The produce area is small and lacking. The dried fish area is where it seems to shine compared to others, but not the most important section around. Please get a better Korean market in Fremont or a H Mart! read more

I was a bit excited like many to hear that a Mega Mart was going to be opening where Sprouts aka Barnes and Nobles (what's a book?) used to be situated in the plaza with Big 5 (man this place has been here for decades...). Maneuvering the area in a car felt like a challenge as many cars drive through the area. Parking was fine but it's not that much as it's shared by all the shops in the plaza. To my dismay, the inside space was huge and airy, but alas, I've been spoiled by H-Mart and my expectations were high, but Mega Mart was more of a Mini Mart. I do appreciate their cake selection and some of their pre-made food which is what we were there for primarily for lunch. We settled for some kimbap and a kimchi pork "dumpling." I say "dumpling" because it wasn't a really a dumpling. It was the size of a small fist and the "wrapping" was more of a dough. But we weren't mad at it. It was a bao folks a nice large bun with filling that was flavorful. The kimbap was fine. Although we were slightly disappointed by the selection, we were happy to discover the "dumpling." We'll probably try more of the hot food selection in the future and just hope things will be better over time. read more

Good ol' Mega Mart. This market is our go-to whenever we want to buy some meats for KBBQ night at home. This market has a little bit of everything. All the grocery related things: fresh produce, seafoods, meats, frozen foods, snacks, and drinks. They also have household items like pots and pans, plates/dishes, Tupperware, etc. A fan of Korean skincare? They've got that too! They often have deals and specials so you can usually score great prices on meats (both frozen and fresh). We love picking up the marinated beef bulgogi, brisket, and pork belly. I'll sometimes treat myself to their bulk snacks like their banana chips and coffee peanuts. Sometimes their bakery will have Korean corn dogs and tanghulu, which I have yet to try. Anyways, it's a pretty large market and I've never had any issues with my experiences here. Sometimes they run out of the snacks I'm looking for but it's no big deal. I'll keep coming back to get my KBBQ fix here! read more

So just like the rest I was just as excited for the new opening of this huge korean market. The first few visits I made the shelves were completely empty with no stocked items. I thought maybe after my first 2 visits things would change. Not really, I have been there plenty of times and stock on the shelves seems to be an issue, or am I just going when other are going and left with nothing. I also noticed they have chaged much of their selced item goods. when they first opened they had plenty of variety of items. Now they have a few items in bulk and fuly socked the shelvs with the same 4 items. IDK if this is a pattern or what may seem to be the issue. However, their deli selection, bakery, cakes, seemed to be fully stocked but not the groecery items. I may have to give the some more time until they get the hang of their supply and demand chain. I still visit but only mainly to pick up a few items that I know they always have on hand, sometimes i may even pick up a few items as a treat for myself. Hopefully things change in the next few months so I can update this review and bump up the stars for them and the stocked shlves! read more

I finally visited Mega Mart earlier this week as I wanted to get some shabu meat for my dog. I was planning to go to Hmart, but then I remembered that there was this much closer place. After the gym, I went there and found parking easily. Inside the store, it reminds me of the Korean store in Sunnyvale. I forgot its name, but very similar. The store is definitely smaller than Hmart and Ranch 99. I looked through the meats, and the prices were more expensive than Hmart's. I ended up buying a box of shabu meat ribeye, beef bones, and a bag of corn chips. There were two cashiers at the time, and I went with the one on the left. He asked me if I wanted a bag, which I declined as it was only three items. The other cashier turned and asked him if I was getting a bag. It was awkward silence except for one trying to sing to the music on and off. Upon giving me the receipt, he didn't say anything while I told him "Thank you." I just felt like he was kinda rude. I'd rather drive further to go to Hmart whenever I need to buy shabu meat next time than go here again. They're friendly, less expensive, and more options. read more

They were busy but not yet packed at 11:30am on a Sunday. Since it's a new market, it was super modern and clean; however, there was almost too much space in between aisles and from one area to another. I also saw what some Yelpers were saying about the empty shelves- they had so much space in the store, and not enough variety and/or merchandise in general to fill all the shelves. The vegetable section had a great variety of items to choose from. I didn't love that the majority of vegetables were pre-packaged in small plastic bags; however, that's consistent with a lot of other Asian supermarkets. Some veggies were fresher than others, but the prices seemed very competitive. The pre-cooked food section didn't look great, and the rice in their sushi looked too wet/mushy. I also didn't see a big variety in prepared banchan. The fruit section was also really small, and surprisingly had very little variety. The prices for the meat section was on the higher side, but I get we're in inflation times. Ok so returned here for a quick shopping trip and grabbed some essentials. Meat here is pricier than the big American chains. The celery was marked down to $0.79 a bunch but was so soft and floppy.. we used a few sticks and threw the rest away. The hot foods and grab and go items seemed better than the actual produce and meat. They have a now robust section of hot food bowls, poke/sushi, and banchan. There's even cafe style offerings of mini cakes/slices and corn dogs and croquettes. A big step up from a few weeks ago, but they aren't at five stars yet IMO. Not sure that this satiates my Korean market needs. So I might still be willing to make the trek to the South Bay. read more

I've visited twice over the last couple of weeks - once a Sunday evening and the other time was within an hour of opening on a weekday (before 9 AM). It's great to have an Asian market close by. Sometimes, going to Marina Foods or Lions feels like a trek esp when you need a small handful of ingredients. The store has been open only a month so you'll see progress with every visit. I am seeing shelves filling up this morning. They have a huge selection of frozen foods, snacks, and houseware. In the meat department, there are smaller trays of meat instead of a lb of ground meat. You won't find at other supermarkets. Similarly, I've found baby bok choy prepackaged in a bag under 0.3 lbs. I really like the option of buying a small amount. The baked goods were nearly gone in the evening. Their entrees will not come out until 10:30 AM. If you need something before that, don't fret and just get them at Manna around the corner. read more

However, they had a Soft Opening on 9/21 and 9/22. I decided to check it out on 9/22. The parking lot had plenty of empty spaces. The market itself was only partially filled with customers. The shelves were still being filled. Lots of space to move around and very clean. There were lots of grab and go hot food items. I will be back to explore the place. read more

Ultimately, I've very happy to see this type of supermarket here. I will have to come back when the hype has gone down because the line was kind of ridiculous during their grand opening. Parking still sucks, probably will be worse now that more people will be coming. Please be safer driving down the lanes and watch when you're walking. People seem to just not care much about safety. Setup is pretty similar to the old Sprouts there. There's plenty of options, in my opinion. Saw some vegan kimchi. So much sprouts. I'll have to come back to try the different meat options. It's smaller than other comparable Korean and Japanese markets but more than sufficient for a neighborhood store. As expected, the meat varieties are less but has most of the basics: kalbi, sliced beef, chicken, pork, etc. The veggie section is also smaller. I liked the food area where you can pick up bento boxes or prepacked rice plates with unagi, kalbi, bbq beef, etc... The bakery offered the usual pastries as well as interesting Korean hotdogs and mozzarella dogs. At the front there were also some individually packed breads and pastries. I tried some of the pastries and thought they were credible. The bread tasted relatively fresh. read more

Very happy to see this supermarket in the neighborhood. I didn't realized that last Friday was the grand opening as I heard from a coworker that the supermarket opened and went the same day I was told of the news. I got there at 8pm and many shelves were empty. That's a good sign when there's grand opening but I hope they restock so I can see what hot food items and premade sushi boxes are available. They were nice to gift a reuseable shopping bag on the first day. Very big and versatile and good marketing way with their store name imprinted on the bag. I went again on Sunday as I wanted some hamachi collars I saw they had on Friday night but didn't think to pick it up assuming I can get it during my next visit. I regret not getting it when I saw it because there were no hamachi collars left on Sunday. I noticed they did restock and there were more premade sushi boxes this time and some hot items left along with more desserts then on Friday when I went. Overall, I'm very happy this market opened. They pretty much kept the same structure as the Sprouts before. I will be shopping here again and again and hope to see fresh vegetables and seafood here. read more

Mega Mart, a Korean supermarket, has moved into the space where Sprouts was. There's a little bit of everything here: health and beauty, few household items, frozen foods, meats, seafoods, veggies, prepared meals, sushi, and baked goods. I'm a big fan of Bibigo items, so I was happy to find items I hadn't seen before (like Bibigo soup dumplings-yummy). There's also a huge variety of kimchi. I also found Korean sweet potato glass noodles, which I haven't been able to find in other Asian markets in the area. There's a huge variety of meats that I haven't seen at other Asian markets, like huge tomahawk steaks. The prepared meals at the front of the store all looked really good. There's also lots of tempting baked items, like buns, cookies, cakes, and pastries. We tried a few cookies and buns, and they were pretty good. They weren't as sweet as American baked items. This was our first time visiting this supermarket and we really enjoyed browsing around :) There is a lot of variety of items, ranging from bakery to meats to frozen foods. My daughter wanted to try out the cheese tteokbokki that they have in the refrigerated area and it was really good! They also have a houseware section as well as a beauty/skincare section that had in innisfree products. This was my first visit, I didn't know what type of market Mega Mart was until I yelped the photos. I love Korean markets, because my family loves to eat yellow croakers. I bought a big box of croakers and a couple of packs of hamachi Kama, which is the neck collarbone of the hamachi fish, broiled with salt n pepper and dipped into yuzu sauce, makes it the most delicious dish to nibble on. I was pretty excited to visit because Mega Mart was one of the closest Korean supermarkets around (minus Manna, the family owned Korean store right around the corner). Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by what I saw. The store occupies a pretty large space, but the layout doesn't make it feel that way. I found myself constantly mentioning how small the store was - but upon reflection, I think I was more describing the variety of produce and merchandise vs the actual size of the store. There's vegetables and a food station, but the variety is extremely limited and unfortunately didn't look very appetizing. The desserts and pastries were cute, but some of the displays were deflated and collapsed (ex: a cheesecake, not pictured). What really caught me off guard was the lack of knowledge by a majority of the staff. Everybody was very friendly, but I noticed multiple instances of shoppers asking where items were and being met with confused stares. They weren't complicated questions, either - just things like where the soup bases were. Overall, this is a good place to grab a quick bite or some snacks, but I wouldn't come here for comprehensive grocery shopping since their fresh produce and meat were severely lacking.
