This place has many items I wish I could get at a supermarket closer to home, like 99 Ranch in El Cerrito or New Sang Chong in San Leandro. Nonetheless, Mega Mart is clean and has well organized aisles and luckily, I frequent Fremont often to see friends and family, and for the occasional stop at the Newark Costco! Food haul highlights: - Vegan Bulgogi riceballs ($4.99 bag of 5 balls) - the price matches Trader Joe's Jumeokbap riceballs, but beats TJ's in quantity -- 5 balls instead of 3! - Japanese wagyu sirlon ($49.99/lb) - not sure if it's A5, but the marbling looks legit and the taste is great! Definitely a better deal than buying a frozen A5 steak from Costco for $99.99/lb. - Wagyu boneless short ribs ($29.99/lb) - this might be on the pricier side if it's American wagyu, but the marbling is on point for a meatier tasting wagyu versus the Japanese kind above. - Bluefin toro & salmon sashimi - so fresh and the salmon was 30% off for some reason! And the friendly cashier told me that if you purchase after 7pm, all sushi and sashimi are 50% off! Woot! - Kimbop, mmmbop! Tasty and fresh! - Beef bone marrow bones - can't wait to roast these and perhaps make a beef stock! - Not pictured: had to pick up some Chinese bitter melon because you know, health! read more

I had a very unpleasant experience with a store manager. I walked from my place to the grocery store, stopping at another store beforehand. When I entered, I placed my items in a basket and went directly to the restroom. The manager was waiting outside and told me I couldn't bring my basket into the restroom. He then asked me to empty my pockets, which I did. After that, I continued shopping for the items I needed. While I was in the store, the manager kept following me and eventually told me to leave. At first, I didn't realize he was speaking to me because I had headphones on. I proceeded to the register to pay for my items, but he continued insisting that I leave and told me not to come back in a very disrespectful manner. He told me "dont ever come back here MF" read more

This is a nice asian grocery store. The deli food is much more than the other stores ... this store is close to home.

I get confused with the name "Mega Mart," thinking we're talking about the art installation in Vegas (O)mega. While it doesn't scream Asian market, it does provide a needed spot for the large Asian community in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by their hot deli section. Sure, it doesn't have as much as the likes of H-Mart, but there were some gems I found that were vegan friendly for me. I liked having an affordable mushroom japchae (that was even discounted early in the morning) and some banchan that were fully plant based. It's not much, but I'll take what I can get. The entire store felt sparse but was clean and tidy. Comparing it to larger supermarkets, you won't find as much of a selection, but it has all the basics. I'll probably return again with my Mom in the future whenever she wants to find a wider variety of Asian goods that's not available at our local Chinese market. Note: there is no public restroom or dining area inside, but you can enjoy the baked goods and hot foods outside. read more

I was on an Asian market visit in the Fremont area. This was my second stop this morning. Like many Asian markets, many tables surrounds the front loaded with various goods. It can be overwhelming to see to many things and tempted before see other things in the store. It carry Asian goods but Korean goods seem to be the dominant shelf items. The pricing appears to be fairly competitive. So if I'm in the area for more Korean oriented grocery I definitely would consider this store. The cashiers are friendly and very informative eg letting you if items being purchased are on sale that include a bunch. That is worthy of patronage and loyalty. read more

This supermarket is located in Fremont plaza along with Noah's Bagels and Starbucks. There's plenty of parking. This supermarket is a one stop shop. They sell meats, veggies, fruits, snacks, cooked food, and sushi. They also have a huge variety of beverages including booze. They sell whole and single sliced cakes, and lots of other yummy baked goods. This supermarket sell houseware items, shampoos, and conditioners as well. It's a clean and organized store. We stopped by the counter to order mochi doughnuts and korokes. These mochi doughnuts are not the typical mochi doughnuts that I normally buy. These doughnuts don't have any glaze or toppings on top. They were chewy and have red bean paste inside. They were kind of on the sweet side. The korokes had egg, beef, pork, cabbage, bell peppers, onion, and curry inside. They were pretty flavorful. We bought some baked goods like matcha castella, raspberry almond croissant, and hwangnam manju. The matcha castella was very, very dry. It was a big disappointment. They really need to change the recipe like add more water. The raspberry almond croissant and the hwangnam manju weren't too sweet, which we really liked. The hwangnam manju had chestnut and red beans in them. read more

I tried to pickup up sushi clearly labeled 50% off (Mega Mart's own discount sticker). At checkout I was denied the discount. When I asked, staff said the employee put on the wrong sticker--yet they still refused the discount. Manager declined to speak with me in person and relayed "we can't honor it." Customers shouldn't pay for store errors. Besides the poor service, it raises a question about potential compliance issues with California's pricing/advertising rules, which generally expect the displayed price or discounts to be honored or corrected promptly. I hope leadership fixes training and pricing controls; until then, double-check everything at this location. read more

Simply put. It looks like a sprouts supermarket but with Korean/asian goods. The place is clean and the service is pretty quick. It's not as grandiose as its name implies except for the sticker shock you get after you purchase your items. Definitely "mega" price when you get out! read more

A great place to visit for Hotpot sliced meats & a huge array of Korean products. We bought a variety of boxed milk drinks: Binggrae Strawberry & Coffee. The Strawberry was a better choice than the coffee, but honestly this company is more known for their Banana drink. Pulmuone Potato & Mozzerella Corn Dog- love the selection of frozen snacks & Pulmuone is a trusted brand. Pretty authentic for a take home package & more reasonable than going to a shop. There is also a nice snack table with all sorts of prepared foods, just make sure you go before 3pm for a better selection. Bibigo Kimchee Cheese Rice Ball- a crunchy rice exterior with a spicy Kimchee kick. I was partial to this Rice Ball but my daughter enjoyed it, so it's worth a try. Great Korean Market in Fremont & happy I don't need to go to San Jose for these treats & sliced meats for hotpot. read more

We were in the area for dinner and saw this Mega Mart that my friend had told me about and decided to check it out. It's located at the Fremont Plaza with ample parking out front. The store is spacious, bright, clean and well organized. As you enter the store there's a small fresh fruit, bakery and prepared meals section. On the right side of the store, there's a fresh and frozen seafood section. Fresh produce and frozen section in the back of the store. The store has a large selection of non-perishables, like packaged noodles, condiments, can goods, rice and grains. Overall, a good Korean supermarket that should carry the Korean items and ingredients that you need. It's a smaller scale compared to H Mart or 99 Ranch. read more

Love this store, bought some duck to cook and they have nice pastries. They have a lot of items you can't get at your basic supermarket.

I am victim to a targeted ad on Facebook and Instagram. I also love me a Korean/Asian market and happened to be in the area so I drove on by to see what Mega Mart is about. Mega Mark took over what once was a sprouts. Plenty of parking, though tight. Upon walking in, you're greeted with a clean facility and a well stocked bakery section. When it comes to hot food; however, there wasn't much of a selection. What I love about Asian markets is the variety of meat and seafood. Mega Mart fell short on both. The meats looked questionable and appear to have been packaged a day or two ago. The pork belly wasn't the bright red color which indicates freshness; instead, it was more on the brown side. They didn't have much of a selection for seafood either with only a small tub of ice for the fish. Most of the items were in the frozen section. Adding onto my disappointment was this obnoxious sound coming from either their speakers or fridge. It sounded like a screech that never ended and it was the second reason as to why I cut my shopping short. read more

Total hidden gem as this used to be another grocery store. I was happy to find today there were a number of gluten free options in their bakery. Lots of fresh produce, freshly made Korean and Japanese food (take-out) to carry out and go, and lots of other food options, items you'd normally find at H-Mart, or 99 Ranch. The space is large and clean. Service staff is normal and pretty standard. I'd come here again, the product is actually fairly cheap compared to other places! read more

This Mega Mart is in a decently big plaza with plenty of parking. It was not too busy when I stopped by on a weekday afternoon, so I was able to casually browse around. It was a bit smaller inside than I imagined, but not bad. I was intrigued by their 'fresh sushi' - decent amount of choices, but not sure how fresh it is, as it did not look as fresh as it could had been. I was looking for some other products that my friends told me they found here, but I guess they stopped selling several of those things. Overall, good addition to the area. read more

I can't believe that we have unknowingly driven past this supermarket for decades only to discover them on yelp! Was hoping to shop at their sister location but it was too far and this was on the way home. Impressed by some of the sale items (we got some delicious honey chips for $1 when they sell for $4 elsewhere). But was amazed by the flash sale they have at the end of the day on some of the perishable items. Hot/deli foods were not on par with restaurant quality, but the food wasn't too bad and was def better than any other supermarket. Our fav was the short rib rice bowl which was tasty and tender. Dragon roll was not bad but the eel was a bit rubbery and harder to chew. Pork buns were very meaty and not too bad. Japchae was just ok, a bit on the salty side. They have super cute cream puff pastries that I was so tempted to buy had I not already had a ton of dessert at home. When I have more time, would love to come back and shop thru the other departments to see what food they have. So happy we have found a hidden gem. read more

So excited to finally have discovered this Korean market! Just moved from the city and def miss my Hmart visits, but glad this one is nearby and has all the yummy korean and other asian products to fulfill my korean and other asian cooking needs! I felt like the produce section was a bit limited but great affordable prices, but def beware for the sale items. A lot of their sale items were expired or about to be expired. For example, saw Blueberries for 1.99 or $2+ but def looked like mold was starting to grow on them and the soft tofu on sale was expired by several weeks. Def check your items before you buy, but other than that their fresh baked items, hot n ready assorted kimbap were a delight and other frozen products and snacks had a great selection. read more

Don't know why this got such low ratings... but I thought this place was great. Went to South Korea last summer and was missing some of the snacks and food and this place didn't miss. Mega Mart is a Korean specialty grocery store that takes over the old Sprouts in Fremont. I was super excited to see the company grow, as they recently rebranded the K Market in Sunnyvale, where I find tons of the best groceries for the best prices. Unfortunately, this new location is not quite there yet. The available stock of a lot of meats, produce, and frozen items were very limited. And the prices of the meats were almost double of what I usually see. I couldn't justify paying those prices. I decided to skip the seafood section all together after this. My cart is usually full by then end of a trip, but this time it was barely halfway full (or half empty :p) They have a neat section of hot prepared foods like kimchi fried rice and donkatsu, and a temperature controlled section for banchan and kimbap. Besides food, they also have a section for Korean skincare products with brands like Innisfree. Overall, the store itself has a ton of space for more products so hopefully they ramp up the options within this new year. read more

I always thought H-mart and Manna Oriental Market was expensive compared to other asian markets, but they are both definitely cheaper than Mega Mart. Honestly just an ok place and would only come if I direly need a thing or 2 without driving all the way to San Jose for H-mart. Pocky is like $2.50-$3. Soju is almost $6. And you could get these basic stuff for cheaper at another asian grocery store. Maybe their hot food selection is kinda ok, but I've seen the hot food prices at the H-mart in San Jose and its $1-$2 cheaper for the exact same thing they sell. Selection is alright. I dont think they have a lot of things in comparison to H-mart, but they definitely do in comparison to Manna. Anyways, came and bought a cute cream puff for $5.25. I definitely don't think it was worth since it was so small. They had like pikachu, pig, cookie monster, and minion cream puffs as selections, but most of them looked messed up and not really like the character. I got lucky with the pig one I got since out of like 10, it was the only one that wasnt distorted. Not so sure about the taste cuz I got it for friend as a gift. read more

This is an OK Korean mart. I have to rate it down due to my disappointment in not even coming close the quality of H Mart or any of the Korean markets in Santa Clara. These established Korean markets have been around for decades and Mega Mart could only muster this meager version. It is appropriate that they took over a "sprouts" market. The deli section is a c minus at best. Not even coming close to any real korean market. I am most disappointed by this aspect over all it's other failures. The baked goods are d quality. The sushi items and kim bap try hard but seem to lack the flavor of any of it's competitors. Manna in the same shopping area had far superior banchan items but was now forced to close due to Mega Mart. The produce area is small and lacking. The dried fish area is where it seems to shine compared to others, but not the most important section around. Please get a better Korean market in Fremont or a H Mart! read more

So just like the rest I was just as excited for the new opening of this huge korean market. The first few visits I made the shelves were completely empty with no stocked items. I thought maybe after my first 2 visits things would change. Not really, I have been there plenty of times and stock on the shelves seems to be an issue, or am I just going when other are going and left with nothing. I also noticed they have chaged much of their selced item goods. when they first opened they had plenty of variety of items. Now they have a few items in bulk and fuly socked the shelvs with the same 4 items. IDK if this is a pattern or what may seem to be the issue. However, their deli selection, bakery, cakes, seemed to be fully stocked but not the groecery items. I may have to give the some more time until they get the hang of their supply and demand chain. I still visit but only mainly to pick up a few items that I know they always have on hand, sometimes i may even pick up a few items as a treat for myself. Hopefully things change in the next few months so I can update this review and bump up the stars for them and the stocked shlves! read more

I finally visited Mega Mart earlier this week as I wanted to get some shabu meat for my dog. I was planning to go to Hmart, but then I remembered that there was this much closer place. After the gym, I went there and found parking easily. Inside the store, it reminds me of the Korean store in Sunnyvale. I forgot its name, but very similar. The store is definitely smaller than Hmart and Ranch 99. I looked through the meats, and the prices were more expensive than Hmart's. I ended up buying a box of shabu meat ribeye, beef bones, and a bag of corn chips. There were two cashiers at the time, and I went with the one on the left. He asked me if I wanted a bag, which I declined as it was only three items. The other cashier turned and asked him if I was getting a bag. It was awkward silence except for one trying to sing to the music on and off. Upon giving me the receipt, he didn't say anything while I told him "Thank you." I just felt like he was kinda rude. I'd rather drive further to go to Hmart whenever I need to buy shabu meat next time than go here again. They're friendly, less expensive, and more options. read more

3-3.5 stars but it wasn't quite 4 stars so rounding down for now; however, they had super reasonable vegetable prices. Mega Mart is a Korean market that replaces the former Sprouts location in Fremont, and this is a GIANT store (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=lRd1AXdeoq-QgVaWZCj-mg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg). They were busy but not yet packed at 11:30am on a Sunday. Since it's a new market, it was super modern and clean; however, there was almost too much space in between aisles and from one area to another. I also saw what some Yelpers were saying about the empty shelves- they had so much space in the store, and not enough variety and/or merchandise in general to fill all the shelves. The vegetable section had a great variety of items to choose from. I didn't love that the majority of vegetables were pre-packaged in small plastic bags; however, that's consistent with a lot of other Asian supermarkets. Some veggies were fresher than others, but the prices seemed very competitive. The pre-cooked food section didn't look great, and the rice in their sushi looked too wet/mushy. I also didn't see a big variety in prepared banchan. The fruit section was also really small, and surprisingly had very little variety. The prices for the meat section was on the higher side, but I get we're in inflation times. They were giving out a giant bottle of hand sanitizer (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=055PGVKd9q28wz58QhU4XA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg) with each purchase the day I went (Oct 2), which was super generous. I would come back if in the area, and hope they continue stocking up over time. There was plenty of parking in their lot at the time; however, the spots are on the smaller side. Also, be careful of the terrible drivers! read more

Ok so returned here for a quick shopping trip and grabbed some essentials. Meat here is pricier than the big American chains. The celery was marked down to $0.79 a bunch but was so soft and floppy.. we used a few sticks and threw the rest away. The hot foods and grab and go items seemed better than the actual produce and meat. They have a now robust section of hot food bowls, poke/sushi, and banchan. There's even cafe style offerings of mini cakes/slices and corn dogs and croquettes. A big step up from a few weeks ago, but they aren't at five stars yet IMO. Not sure that this satiates my Korean market needs. So I might still be willing to make the trek to the South Bay. read more

I've visited twice over the last couple of weeks - once a Sunday evening and the other time was within an hour of opening on a weekday (before 9 AM). It's great to have an Asian market close by. Sometimes, going to Marina Foods or Lions feels like a trek esp when you need a small handful of ingredients. The store has been open only a month so you'll see progress with every visit. I am seeing shelves filling up this morning. They have a huge selection of frozen foods, snacks, and houseware. In the meat department, there are smaller trays of meat instead of a lb of ground meat. You won't find at other supermarkets. Similarly, I've found baby bok choy prepackaged in a bag under 0.3 lbs. I really like the option of buying a small amount. The baked goods were nearly gone in the evening. Their entrees will not come out until 10:30 AM. If you need something before that, don't fret and just get them at Manna around the corner. read more
