DO NOT BUY PREMADE FOODS. This review is about the quality of their hot foods section. Compared to the Cupertino branch it's night and day. Their selection is very limited. We got about $60 worth of cooked foods to try at home. First, the cucumbers in their Gimbap was rotten. Had to throw out $12 of food. It seriously gave the family stomachaches. Their bulgogi bowl is ground beef rather than sliced beef. Again, I feel like they are using meats that have gone bad or on the verge of going bad. Then we got Spam Musubi, and the rice was mushy with a weird taste. How can you f**k up steam rice?! We were so disappointed, we went to Kukje in Daly City the next day as a comparison, and not only it was cheaper, but everything tasted fresh. It's been a long time since we've been back to Mega Mart. We decided to try again to see if we'd change our minds and although it's nice to have a Korean Market nearby. I'm not rushing back here for their premade food. I just feel I get cheaper and better quality at other markets. So it's hard to go here for it. The bulgogi kimchi fried rice was quite oily. A bit spicier than I want it to be but it's not burning hot which is liveable. The karaage was ok. Tartar sauce as a dip is a choice. The poke bowl felt like it could be better. The fish pieces were a bit haphazardly chopped. The seaweed was a bit slimy. But if you're needing to find snacks or frozen food or drinks, it's nice to have the option. nearby-ish. Also one of my bffs came here for a bunch of snacks and the associate there checking out her items noticed she was buying something that had a smaller amount where the larger amount item was on sale for the same price. I appreciate them looking out for you to get you a good deal! That's good service there. Everything is nicely laid out and clean so it's a lovely shopping experience but there is a slight smell of perhaps cleaning product which I guess is better than dirty smelling. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!! I bought 2 packaged Hamachi Kama packs advertised for 9.99/lb. The package label listed the price at 13.99/lb, so to my surprise, I did not see a discount applied at checkout. When I brought this up to a cashier, she told me "it's just a confusing label", but when I did the math, I quickly realized the receipt faked a higher weight to keep the package label price the same. They even weighed the package and the weight DID NOT MATCH THE RECEIPT. The manager came out and looked at the receipt, called someone and looked busy for a few minutes and eventually said the price is actually 13.99/lb.... (But it was 9.99 on the receipt and the store signs also displayed 9.99) This was deceptive pricing at best, but fraud at worst. This Mega Mart is located at the Mowry Plaza shopping center right next to Starbucks. It's a decent plaza with plenty of parking. Today I came to get a hot bowl of chicken bulgogi rice. It's priced at $12 and it's well worth it! **I'd give my chicken rice bowl a solid 9/10. It's definitely enough for 2 servings and I like that they keep the rice separate in the bottom part of the bowl. Also, I noticed these BIG ole grapes and was curious so I bought those too. Cup was priced at $10 which is pricey but they were too cute to pass. Grabbed some other goodies like ramen and candies etc... They offer a variety of items, snacks, pastries, veggies, meats, drinks and kitchenware. Just to list a few. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend trying their packaged hot food to go. First time at a Mega Mart and was so excited to shop there. Spent about $85 on groceries including vegetables, instant noodles, and their Poké bowl and their Beef Bulgogi bowl from their ready foods. The salmon in the poke bowl was so low quality, so tough, and smelled extra fishy. I had to throw it away after a couple of bites. The Beef Bulgogi was thin and tough. Bought the Rosemary Farms 20 pack of brown eggs that were on sale for $3.99 thinking it was a great deal. Got home and opened the package to find MOLD growing outside of each egg, not just the one that was broken. Concerned, I googled it and it is not safe to consume eggs that have mold even on the outer layer. Chances are the eggs were not stored properly. Now I'm afraid of how the other products will be when I open them in the case they also were not stored properly. I would be careful shopping here. read more

My husband and I love to shop at Asian supermarkets, so we found Mega Mart in Fremont and decided to stop by and take a look. Market looks clean and tidy, product selection is enough, but overall is a bit disappointing, just because it's not as expected, didn't spend too much time. They had the viral knotted cream donut for $3 which is standard price. The tuna kimbap was 30% off and super yummy! We got 2 of the Basquia banana puddings for $5 each. I'm glad we did so since me and my boyfriend devoured ours. They have an impressive sushi selection but the roll with a bunch of sauce on it was a let down. Mega Mart has been my go to for good quality meat and other Asian cravings. Gotta check out the freezer by the entrance and the middle aisles for the weekly deals. I personally like that Mega Mart isn't as huge as the other popular Korean grocery chain. I am able to browse a little and grab what I need - without getting lost. Their bakery, hot plates and sushi deli are a hit or miss. Meaning I've had some good ones and some just ok-ish ones. In the evenings, most items are marked 20% off. read more

Korean Grocery store, when it first opened we were excited we wouldn't have to drive down to Hmart but now I really miss the Sprouts that used to be here. I'm also sad Manna Market nearby shut down, it was small but I loved going to that Korean Market/Deli. The best things to buy here are the packaged foods, drinks, and snacks. They have a crazy selection of soju and Korean beers as well as cases for select items. The chips and sweets have some items not available at Hmart and they have constant sales so the Soon-tofu packs can often be found for $2. Not so great are the produce, meat, and fish selections, basically anything "fresh". The quality is awful and everything seems to be "expired" level. We needed broccoli and every single sealed package had some bits with rotting sprouts so you couldn't get a "good package" or inspect the backside of the broccoli to see if anything was wrong with it. They have bowls and sushi, we've tried it a couple times and the rice hasn't been good. The fish quality is also terrible. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself but I got sashimi grade salmon recently and it was far from it. Tasted super super fishy and chewy, I had to cook it because I was worried about getting sick and it still tasted super fishy. I still couldn't finish it and gave it to my cat :( read more

I don't know what it is with the Korean markets in SoCal, but I can never find the same level of variety that I can with the ones in NorCal, literally within seconds of going into Mega Mart I saw some brands and things that I have never seen in H Mart or the other Korean markets down south. This includes affordable frozen kimbap (pulled pork and tuna), tanghulu, purple sweet potato pastry, my BELOVED Tom Yum Buldak that I have only found once before, the new Shin Toomba (that I've only seen at the K-town restaurant), various beverages, and so much more. The prices here for prepared food here are pretty affordable and comparable to the prices that I've seen at H Mart and other Korean markets that I have been to. My boyfriend was also able to find this tea that he's had trouble finding in every Korean market that we've perused in SoCal too. Crazy. They even have a bakery with baked goods and various different types of cakes and sweets that you can get to celebrate any special occasion with. They have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages here as well and they have the OG green Jinro frog statue here when I've weirdly only seen the pink and blue one out in the wild. And to show how Korean they are they even have the single serving ice cups that you see in IG reels sometimes where you can use it to prepare the drinks you purchase for yourself. I don't mind stopping by again here in the future to replenish my instant noodle addiction! read more

Ever since the local Korean grocery store located in the back closed for good, I had no choice to shop for Korean deli and snacks here. I'm surprised there are 30% off markdowns on selected hot food, including Kimbap during lunch and late afternoons. I love getting their steamed vegetable and kimchi buns more than anything else. I'm not sure about the sushi section so I'm going to pass for now. I also got to try Sul Pang for the first time. It's a steamed mochi bread made out of rice flour that has a sponge-like texture which comes with a variety of flavors (chocolate, sesame, kabocha, red bean, and vanilla). It's a bit plain like Korean mochi, but healthier than eating a regular cake. The vegetables still look a bit rotten since my first visit. You can call me unhealthy, but that's the only produce section I repel like a vampire smelling garlic lol. Overall, I only stick to the hot deli section, Korean baked goods, and snacks. Sometimes I'll get the Korean pears when it's cheaper than any Asian supermarkets. They even have a small section of popular skincare brands, kitchenware, and home goods. The store is clean and organized; easier to locate items. They need to provide fresh produce though. Maybe add a clearance to almost rotten vegetables. The cashiers are cool and they are willing to give chopsticks every time you purchase any deli items. Parking in the front is hectic so it's best to park behind (facing Fremont Food Hall) or two sections away from the door. read more

Just discovered this place earlier this year and I really enjoy the variety of goods they carry. A bit of everything that you would need or may need. Besides groceries they also have dried goods, Hot food, baked goods, sushi, household items, giftable kitchen ware etc.. Prices are reasonable. Store is extremely organized and clean with wide isles, very spacious. They run frequent promos so there's always a good deal on something in the store. I like their hot foods in particular, always pick up something yummy when I'm there. Cashiers are friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in plaza. Do not get fooled. Most of the the 5 star reviews were paid promotions. You can tell from the wording. The fact is Mega Mart has been raising price every month if not every week. Their frozen hamachi sashimi was $10.99/lb merely 6 month ago. It was $19.99/lb yesterday. Their big Korean green onion was $1.99 a bundle 6 month ago. It was "on sale" yesterday for $3.00 a bundle. Mega Mart lowered prices about 3 month ago after losing a lot of customers due to higher and higher price. I saw foot traffic came back by some. Guess what? They raised the price back to what they were and uppered them again a few weeks later. They had an "annual sale" two weeks ago. Went there and found nothing is really on sale. Their sale price was based on jacked up "regular price". The on-sale price for many items were higher than the week before. I am stopping from shopping at this place. H-mart is coming soon. Ice ball, ball was so fat that when I poured drink in it, the ice blocked the drink from going below the ice. Eventually took a while but it started dripping, I squeezed the cup a lil and the drink was able to seep through. Ice is really nice and round, really fun to see. The easiest iced drink to sip, usually ice gets in my lips and gets in the way of my drink, but this ice ball actually moves away from me when I sip. Its fun to squeeze the ball from through the cup. Also yeah lots of fun jokes to make with this lol. Tanghulu, first few bites were the cherries, smell like candy, smell really, taste really good, theres a seed in cause its cherry, but easy to spit out. But as i chew and chew, candy was noticably thick and hard to chew and sharp so be careful chewing. I got some candy stuck in my teeth a few times. I literally mistook a piece of candy for a cherry seed. Despite being thick, candy was also fragile, a few chunks of candy fell off before i could eat it. Also since opening, the tanghulu has been dripping (candy I think, could be strawberry juice). Also who thought to put tomato in a tanghulu, wasnt bad but they lucky they only put one in, if I had more tomato, I wouldve been disgusted. Rainbow roll was a mouthful literally. Every bite I had to unhinge my jaw to eat. Too much cucumber I think. Also I see they have rainbow rolls with other fishes but the rainbow roll I got was salmon only (which I knew), kinda contradicts the name lol. Fish was good. Green onions and the special creamy white sauce added an unfamiliar taste to an already familiar dish. Also weirdly there was one roll that didnt seem to go with any fish. There seemed to be one extra roll without a fish which makes me to believe they place the fish haphazardly. My only problems is, too big and too much cucumber but this was good sushi. Extra Its not often you get to see such a cool grocery store. The sashimi bowls are huge and pretty cheap. As someone new to Mega Mart, I was blown away by the Cupertino location and had high expectations upon moving to the East Bay and having a Mega Mart nearby. Unfortunately, this location is much smaller than the one on Cupertino, but there are some good sales that go on and that part excites me. Located in a plaza, parking is abundant and free. I've been here twice so far and there have been no lines in the afternoon. The impressive parts of this market is the fact that they have fresh foods and sushi available for decent prices. It's hard not to get swayed by their bentos or even the baked goods. Unimpressive part would be their fruits section - you should double check all containers before checking out as we were able to find a good amount of blueberry and raspberry containers that contained mold. Overall, know what to come here for as it is easy to get sucked in by all the Korean snacks or soju selection or even their kiosk of K-beauty items. read more

I am rating this based on the prepared hot and cold foods. I still enjoy the groceries they have here. I got a salmon bowl here and I got food poisoning. Their kimbap can be a hit or miss with hard rice and they changed the prepared food area to be confusing (the cold and hot food are basically in identical spaces with just different temperatures). I can see how someone could put the wrong foods in areas and it could go bad. They need to fix this. Be wary of getting these foods. Mega Mart needs to address this food safety issue with their prepared foods especially in these times where our food is constantly being recalled and all these viruses are going around. read more

We always make it a habit to stop by this Mega Mart every time we find ourselves in Fremont. They have a pretty wide selection of Korean/Asian produce, household goods, meats, seafood, packaged foods and snacks (my favorite). They also have a small selection of fresh breads and packaged meals which often have a sale as well. Prices here are so much better than 99 Ranch (or Ranch 99), and we always find some great deals, or something new we haven't tried before. And inevitably, we always find ourselves walking out of here with half a shopping cart full of stuff even though there's only two of us at home. Situated next to Starbucks inside a small strip mall, there are plenty free parking available right out front. There is also a table with seating if you purchased some prepared food inside and want to eat it while it's still fresh. read more

I discovered this market on my way to FedEx, it was my first time here and I was so excited. I walked around for a bit to try and get a feel for the store, I definitely picked up a few things along the way. The store is pretty big, dare I say huge. The environment was neat and clean. Alas since I'm on crutches I can't walk a round or shop much but I'll be back! The people are kind, the young lady at the register was helpful and accommodating, I'm still new to the "purchase a bag" or "bring your own" thing The food was hot and fresh and tasted really good. The place seems mediocre because of what they usually sell as well as how it's designed. I don't really considered this as a supermarket considering the fact that it's smaller and how it's designed. Definitely a better deal than buying a frozen A5 steak from Costco for $99.99/lb. - Wagyu boneless short ribs ($29.99/lb) - this might be on the pricier side if it's American wagyu, but the marbling is on point for a meatier tasting wagyu versus the Japanese kind above. - Bluefin toro & salmon sashimi - so fresh and the salmon was 30% off for some reason!
