Great prices for vegetables! I used to always buy onions for less than 50 cents per pound (elsewhere) before the pandemic but it seems prices have AT LEAST doubled everywhere except here. Great local market, I took my father here a year ago while picking up some produce and he remembered the curry powder and some deserts I grabbed a year later! He wanted to come back for some of these to give to relative back home. Bharat is very clean and organized, when you walk in it will remind you of Sprouts or Whole goods. They have a variety of Indian food, spices, and snacks you will only find at specialized markets like this. I've got szechuan peppercorn from here as well as Radhuni for making fish curry. My dad loves the "Pooja" local brand Curry Powder which is made right here in Fremont! It makes a delicious Indian style yellow-curry super good with protein and vegetables. My father also loves the Soan cake + papdi, they are deserts made in India, have tons of ginger, and are so flaky and light you can cut them with a spoon. read more

Prices are very expensive. Poor quality. The prices at Indian grocery stores in Bay Area vary by like 50cents, max by a dollar. However this place price grouches by like $5 for certain items. They have started online delivery. I have used their website to place order. Their staff, does not check the items that are sent to customers. This is basic expectation, that the items they send are not spoilt and is clean. Yesterday, I ordered a bunch of mint leaves. And when i received the leaves, the bunch contained so many snails. It wasn't 1 or 2 snails in the bunch, there were at least 6-7. It felt so unhygienic. The staff at the store is careless and not taking care to pack and send good stuff. Extensive packaged spice selection, chutneys, well stocked frozen cases with South and North Indian goodies..... Last trip I loaded up on Maggi noodles for the quarantine, chutneys, frozen Idli and some masala Gujarat Anand chips. Plus, the cashiers are always friendly and the place is so vibrant and clean too! Bharat Bazar was an inadvertant drive by. tried to go paseo padre. drove onto Hastings. it was blocked for saturday event. in short, drove into this parking lot to turn around. Bharat Bazar is one of the cleanest, well organized markets i've ever seen. long aisles of snacks, baked eateries, refrigerated good, produce, spices, cooked snacks at counter, etc. eats: "jabsons roasted namkeens" (grains & nuts) 200 gm. (1.89) -actually ranged up on register what was priced on the shelf. -crunchy, salty, dry take outs: -bakes and snacks are made with GMO oils (canola, peanut, oil, corn, soybean, etc.) -loaded with fats, etc. read more

They are not following social distancing guidelines or anything. Went in one evening and there was a long line inside for checkout. People were standing so close to each other (no 6 feet) and they did nothing to enforce COVID guidelines. I have seen other stores only limit a certain number of people inside at a time, but these guys had everyone walk in just like that. Plus some people came in groups of 4 with kids and everything.. It was like living in pre-COVID times. Time to call the authorities so that they can put the whip on these guys.. read more

I placed an online order for groceries from bharat bazar website on 1/26. I provided full delivery instructions including my contact number. However, the items were never delivered and no one made a contact at my phone number either. I got a notification that my order was completed when it wasn't completed actually. I reached out to the store staff who talked rudely, didn't address my concerns, and refused to provide me the name, phone number, or email ID of their store manager. Despite my several phone calls and emails, I have not been informed yet on when would my refund be issued or if they can resend my grocery items. This store doesn't care about customer service or client satisfaction. There are plenty of good Indian stores in the Fremont area, so I advise everyone to stay away from this store to avoid going through stressful experience like this. read more

Please take my review very seriously as my word is good as gold. If you want to waste money then please go ahead. Each and every item is .50 cents to $1.00 higher. Every penny counts. I really like this store. Even though there are multiple stores closer to me, I prefer to go to this one. Reason being: it's spacious (UNLIKE most stores where I feel I can't even breathe and the aisles are so narrow that not even 2 people can walk side by side), organized and it's clean. The place is super clean and they have so many different brands that you get in India, so I always find what I'm looking for. If for some reason they run out of something (which almost never happens) they'll tell you when it'll be restocked. Yes, they are cool like that! First impressions - Very well organized and neat! I have been to their Union City store and the Fremont branch is an upgraded version of it. They have a good selection of fresh produce. The organic products aisle is pretty amazing, one whole aisle dedicated to organic goods. They have everything you need from desi yogurt to various spices and masalas. I like their meat selection too. Whole chicken and mutton is available here. They have freshly made samosas, kachoris and spring rolls towards the checkout counter. They even have an eyebrow threading salon located within. Ample parking space is available. This is probably my go to Indian grocery from now on as it is close to my home. This place has a delightful range of Indian products. They have a wide variety of beans, mysteriously in two different aisles, so if you can't find the beans you want, you ain't trying. The staff is very helpful; at check out, when they noticed the bag of beans I had gotten, they pointed out it was a two for one deal, and let me go back and get a second bag. I did notice that the beans in question had a best by date of next month, but, education time, best-by dates mean exactly that, not "no good" so I expect they'll be fine. It's certainly better for the store to put them on a two for one sale than let them go to waste. The kulfi freezer by the checkout stand is definitely worth checking out as well. read more

I was let down by a person at the right most register. She looked in a weird mood and didn't even acknowledge my presence. No hello and ask question about my experience at the store. I inserted the debit card in the POS machine to make a payment but the chip function didn't respond. I mentioned it to her. She grabbed the machine quite unprofessionally , took my card without my permission and forced it into chip reader. After the whole experience, she pushed the grocery Bag to me and turned away to another customer in the queue. I am a regular customer so won't stop going there just due to one bad experience. The old lady with grey hair (manager) at the front is very rude and needs to learn a lot about customer service. Extremely Rude and tries to make sure that you never visit the store again. I am not going to this store ever again in my life. I placed an online order on Monday 6th April. Here are the major problems: 1. They have a standard recording on 510-687-0100 and 510-894-1399. You can never speak with anybody. There are no prompts. 2. On email they send standard reply : " today we had an online member , who was unable to come to work, which has caused a back log. So your delivery will be delayed." 3. They do not give any date of delivery. 4. On their website they say they will deliver in 2 hours....Don't believe it. 5. We are staying hardly less than a mile away, but still no delivery. I was ok with the location, parking & layout of the store. It is spacious and not so crowded. But why i will think twice before going to the store again is the customer service. It happened twice. First time, after billing, the lady gave me a bag and asked me to take all my items (in a rude manner). I asked her if this is usual for this store. Because all other stores arrange items in the bag. While I was filling the bag, she was just hanging around. Second time, today, the lady at the counter was so rude and insensitive that after billing, she banged the rice bag on the counter. It wasn't a heavy bag (just 5kg). Because of that the bag tore while coming back from the store. I think the ladies at the counter are very experienced and think they can do nothing wrong. I will go to the store one last time before deciding not to go again. Management team, you have built a great store at a great location. But please teach your staff some humility. read more

Expensive than usual. The store is very well organized and properly kept inventory is a feast for the eyes and the separate parking space for this building are the only pros about the place. Produce section however needs a major change in arrangement..I had the most uncomfortable experience circling that area because people have a tendency to park their cart and walk around to find stuff and any amount of "excuse me's" often go unheard. Also, Invest in some plastic tags that can be used to tie the polyethene covers, produce that doesnt fit usually spills out from these small bags Customer service, as usual sub par. Although most desi stores do much worse than here, its a step up.. but there must be much more to this store than being labeled "better than other Indian stores" The exit from the store is a very busy Mowry Av and often can take time to get into the ongoing traffic but that shouldnt be a bother if you come here for a planned grocery pickup. read more

Being a huge fan of Indian food and culture- I stepped in to this grocers to replenish my key household groceries, condiments and spices. They had the majority of what you would need from an Indian grocer, except they did not have a plethora of Indian sweets that you could pick and box and charge up per pound, they had the ready boxed ones and very little variety, and the biggest disappointment (for me) was the fact that they failed to include chutney with the samosas that they sell fresh ($1.50 and no chutney in case you wanted details). On the flip side; Santos Market sells their fresh samosas WITH chutney for only 0.75 cents! Personally- not having chutney with samosas and a variety of "pick your own sweets" is enough reason to never shop there again. The whole point of fresh home made samosas is the chutney and the whole point of authentic handmade sweets is to pick the excitement of picking out a variety of sweets. WOW!!! Going to this new location feels like going to a Whole Foods but for Indian groceries. Everything is so clean, new and an upgraded look. We needed an Indian grocery store that looked like Whole Foods and I'm just so happy it's Bharat Bazar in Fremont, as I'm a long time customer from their Union City location. They also have an ALL ORGANIC aisle, which is amazing. Everything from lentils to spices can be found here now and I never have to hop two groceries stores anymore.
