We shop at Ocean Supermarket at least once a week, as the prices on certain items here are pretty reasonable. This supermarket is located inside the Park Victoria Plaza in Milpitas, California. It seems like this is a Vietamese run and owned supermarket, with a select few staff who also speak Chinese, as well. This is a very older supermarket in a smallish shopping center, but also has plenty of parking spaces. The inside is very old, and could really use a remodel to make it more modern, but for a supermarket, it does the job. The cleanliness isn't quite there compared to a 99 Ranch Market or other chain supermarket, but thus one seems like a single location, non chain. The prices here are pretty reasonable, especially for the fruits, not sure how they are able to compete with other stores and offer fruits are relatively low low prices. Oranges are $0.49 LB! These is the cheapest I've seen, even previously, they've offered them at $0.39 LB too. Again, not sure how they can sell them so cheap! We also really like the Fried Tofu they sell here for $4.99, the only supermarket that sells this kind. It's large sized, fried square tofu puffs. We get this every visit we come here. They sell alot too! The customer service here is really non-existent, meaning there is basically none, unless you speak their language, which is vietnamese. They automatically start talking to you in vietnamese, not much english with the cashiers, although they do understand basic english. Plenty of parking in the lot, so no worries there and they also have plenty of shopping carts for customers to use. However, I wish they would provide some shopping cart corrals for the parking lot, so customers have a place to return it after use. Overall, just a 3 star. Basic supermarket, nothing spectacular. read more

Affordable produce with lots of good Vietnamese products. Some fruits look like they are about to rot/ have flies, while the vegetables look saggy. The aisles are so narrow, I had to dodge like in bumper car rides to prevent crashing on someone. The meat and fish department smells like a wet market, so if anyone is sensitive to gamey and fishy smells, especially pregnant women that place is not for the brave soul. Sometimes there might be a mentally unstable homeless person wandering in front of the entrance with no security on site. Overall it's cheaper than 99 Ranch Market and Lion Supermarket. read more

It's not my favorite spot, but because they have everything I need for coffee packets, soups, and desserts recipes, it keeps me coming back. Cashiers are always ready to ring customers up even when it gets crowded and congested at times. Parking lot isn't the best in design, but it sure can use remodeling or upgrading to match this old Park Victoria/Calaveras Blvd/Milpitas neighborhood. Very decent and affordable grocery prices on most items. Grab and go fast because the aisles aren't wide compared to most places. You can easily find coconut milk around $0.99 per can, evaporated milk in a can under $2, and $1.69 for grass jelly or green Ai Yu jelly in can. Small pack dried red beans are $2.49. If you want the good firm pandan dessert, firm coconut dessert, almond dessert, mango pudding, etc. to make at home, expect around $2 each. They have good Asian baking ingredients and other ready to eat jellies/gelatins for you to add to your dessert kitchen pantry. I actually do like the varieties because it's perfect for making Vietnamese desserts too. I used to buy meats in frozen section from here, but sometimes, the cashiers ring up the wrong prices, so just be aware. Noodle soup ingredients and processed meats can be a bit pricey. Overall, decent in many ways. Vegetables and fruits section is always crowded with many elderly seniors standing around. I will come back here for dessert recipe ingredients when I'm in the mood for my sweet tooth cravings. read more

Was accused of stealing at this location by the cashier lady at station number 1 today because I was looking at an item that was next to the exit, had my purchased items already packed up and in my grocery bags and when I put the item back and turned to leave the cashier told me to stop and asked if I paid. I told her I had paid and asked what she was talking about, she said I went from around the register and was leaving so she was asking for my receipt and I told her to go ask the cashier for it because I literally had my hands full with heavy bags and then she decided to ignore me. I kept pressing her to go ask the cashier to prove her wrong, that I wasn't stealing, after confirming with the other cashier, I told the cashier that next time to actually pay attention to what's going on before stopping someone and making up a story that I went around the register to leave with stolen items . I spent about 50 dollars in this location and am a brown woman just trying to shop in an Asian grocery store. Do better. read more

Competitive prices and fresh produce. There is a reason why the oranges were 0.19/lb. They were a bit dry, but not too bad. The pomelos were 0.99 each. Although not the juiciest or sweetest I've ever had, it was not bad too. All their herbs are already prepackaged in bags. 3 crab brand fish sauce was $4.99 a bottle. I like that they have more Vietnamese ingredients than 99 Ranch does. read more

I live an exit away from this supermarket, but I don't normally shop here. I can here today because I saw a posting for good guava. However, they were sold out before I arrived. I noticed this place has good amount of produce at lower prices compared to big chain Asian grocery stores where I normally shop. This is not like a warehouse like market, no decorations but isles and isles of groceries stacked up. However, they have fresh looking meat on the count. I like the fact that these type of meat are fresh never been frozen. Unlike American supermarkets, most of the meat on the counters are previously frozen. Be because they sell and clean fresh fish, so that area is pretty fish. It's a love and hate relationship, I love to purchase fresh meat and live seafood, but I don't like the fishy smell... I'm summary, if you want fresh meat and produce, or dried Asian goods, and don't mind the less decorative environment, this is the place to be. read more

This is a Vietnamese supermarket, so you'll find more Vietnamese products in addition to the usual Chinese fare. For example, they have nem nuong, which has become increasingly hard to find in Chinese supermarkets. I came during mooncake season, so they had a decent variety of mooncakes, primarily from Vietnam. In keeping with their name, they have a good seafood section as well. The good: This (mostly) Chinese supermarket is very clean and organized. It doesn't have that smelly meat/fish scent that most Asian markets have and the aisles are well kept and tidy. My mom and aunt are a big fan of this market because of the fresh fruit they have. I got some huge golden kiwis here that were much larger than the ones from Costco. The workers here were friendly and let me exit thru the entrance because they saw that I was pregnant. The bad: I came to get young coconut but they didn't have any (not a single coconut variety). As a front line worker, you don't have to pleased every customers but holding onto your attitude is very important. "RUDE" cashier has pinpointed to this place and I never took it as serious as it is. I was treated with "RUDE" attitude today as a lady was helping me packing the groceries. I told her she should separates the soy sauce and fish sauce bottles in case it breaks while I am driving home. She then stopped helping me in the middle of packing then walked to another lane continues working. I wonder what is this happening? I've grew up going to this market from my Grandmother taking me as well as my Mother. This Supermarket is so nostalgic. They carry everything Asian that you would need. Quality produce, seafood, and meats all at an affordable and reasonable price. Also the ambience is how should I say it authentic. Ocean supermarket could be one of the oldest Asian supermarket here in Milpitas. My mom and grandma started to go here since early 90s... and now I also go here. Their produces are fresh. Sometimes they sell tropical fruits like dragon fruits, rambutan, longan and many more. Meat and fish are also pretty fresh. Weekend is always packed with customers, so parking maybe hectic, and you may have to wait in line a bit longer to pay. Although, Workers seem nice. All cashier ladies are pretty quick. Over all, they have decent prices. They are not the cheapest supermarket, but prices seem fair and decent. They also have sales sections at beginning of each aisle. I like to go here to shop, and I come here pretty often. read more

Good place to visit if you want to get fresh vegetables and fruits at a discount price. The shop closes by 6pm everyday but we get fresh fruit for a discount price compared to other near-by shops. Mangoes are our favorite items in addition to buying apples and corn. Bananas aren't fresh and we try to avoid here. The store is closed on Tuesdays, just be aware of. read more

The inside of the store is so crowded. I would accidentally bump my cart with other people's cart. We come here mainly for the fish and meats. It's much cheaper than Ranch 99 and Lions Supermarket. My gf would come here for cargo boxes to ship to the Philippines. The fish and meat here are so fresh. I don't think they put them in the freezer. You can smell thisplace from a mile away. Whenever my mom goes grocery shopping, I beg to stay in the car so I can protect my clothes from the heinous smells. Inside is a melee battled by ferocious vietnamese women who disregard anyone's feet in the way of their carts. Should you accidently bump any of them in the gentlest bit, they'll run up and down the aisles trashtalking you. True story. Jackfruit is cheapest here, and they have independent mango sellers outside the door (weird, but to my benefit) that offer whole boxes for $8-10. First of all, no Asian supermarket is perfect. I like it here because the price is lower for the same quality of product. For instance, watermelon is often $0.19 or $0.29 cents a pound, compared to $0.49 cents or more at other Asian markets. There are a variety of Asian snacks and sauces too! The meat section carries more varieties than Chinese supermarkets, at similar or lower prices. In short, if you are in the area, you should swing by to buy produces here. read more
