It's been quite some time since I visited Hankook. I've always been impressed by their cooking lineup. And as usual, their collection was extensive and comprehensive. They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me. read more

I really like shopping at Hankook. This market is huge, and they have all kinds of products in addition to food. We have purchased a wok from here, twice, and they were reasonably priced (around $35 if I recall), and we got a spare lid for a reasonable price as well. They always have inexpensive produce, lots of fresh stuff. I got a bag of bok choy for $2. I think if you are looking for Asian produce, a great place to shop. They also have a lot of prepared foods, snack foods, etc. Everything is reasonably priced. They do have a large enough parking lot, and usually we park on the side to avoid the chaos. read more

One of my favorite korean supermarkets in the area ! They always have great quality vegetables and lots of frozen dessert options! They also seeve La Feremiere yogurt! With alot of different flavors! As to if you go to whole foods there are only about 3-4 flavors. read more

Clean and spacious. Large variety of Korean groceries. The meats look high quality. The live fish tanks were empty. I bought a pack of uni sashimi. Even though it showed "packed today", the uni tasted fishy and smelled slightly stinky. Definitely won't be buying that again. The salmon sashimi didn't taste super fresh but was decent fresh. They have two types of packaging. The one that has a whole piece where you have to cut into slices yourself is a lot less expensive than the box with pre-cut slices. I was able to find a pack of beef short ribs without large pieces of fat inside. Note that the un-marinated short ribs are slightly more expensive than the pre-marinated ones, probably because only the un-marinated ones are USDA Choice. It's very easy to grill these at home. Each side only takes a few minutes. I just used salt and pepper to season it. Tasted very chewy. Looking forward to tasting the frozen noodle lunchboxes! read more

This supermarket is very big and clean. There are many Korean goods, as well as some Chinese and Japanese products. The price is fair. There are many kinds of Korean kimchis, I wish the price of the kimchis could be lower. read more

A trip down memory lane! When we lived in San Jose this was on the way home from work and I would stop here if we wanted Korean groceries. This was about 12 years ago and I don't remember the inside being so large and clean. The produce, meat, and seafood here are high quality. To get here we drove past a massive Mega Mart and based on the Fremont location I would much rather go to Hankook for fresh food items. We just grilled the boneless and chicken thighs we got from here and they were fantastic. Toward the back of the store they have clothing and shoes shops that seem to always be on sale, our favorite part is the "home goods" section in the back where they sell cheap sandles and stools. If you like reed brooms I find most of the handles are too short, the ones being sold here have longer handles that I like better. The meat section also has marinades and hotpot kits directly above the meat so good to get ideas for a meal when meat shopping! read more

produce market inconststent. cucumbers can be fresh or close to rotten. Chinese chives only, missing the more delicate korean chives, missing the korean bell radish. Not as good as the now out of business kyopo. Like safeway for korean food. Mostly packaged foods. Not strong on the korean veggies, kimchi, pork feet. No good stuff worth a separate visit read more

Recently I checked out Hankook market and if you are looking for a nice Korean grocery story this has a bunch of stuff! From produce to all sorts of ramen, condiments, frozen section, you can get almost everything here. They also have a cool spot where you can get lots of banchan fresh which is super cool. They also have the viral tucha ice cream here even though it's expensive. Service is fast at checkout and would definitely visit again for my Korean faves! read more

I spent a lot of time at the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real. It's been 11 years since my last review and I'd been to the store a number of times, but since 2018, not so much. The store is clean and organized. The parking lot is FULL every time. I can't imagine not being able to find things and it didn't look as though anything was moved. I was off to the produce first and then, to the deli items. Got what I wanted, although I had hoped that jjigae seasoning would be available. It's just become too expensive and I need to learn to make my own. I was also looking for a steamer and didn't find that. Sure, I can use my Cuckoo rice cooker but when I'm already at the stove, it would be useful to have the old kind. I got some rice, some drinks, and other odd and ends and even picked up some sashimi because I went to the store hungry. Grrrrrrr Oh, and I found out why some of the packages are labeled "Fresh" and the sashimi wasn't. I was there on the 2nd and the sashimi was packaged on the 28th. Still good, but just. The cashier was okay. She seemed more interested in talking to the cashier next to her than to try to talk to me in Korean or English. She was efficient. read more

This past weekend, my family and I decided to recreate the AYCE KBBQ experience at home. I like hosting these kind of dinners because it brings everyone together and we get to just relax, catch up on each other's lives, and eat KBBQ fresh off table grill! It was a very fun bonding experience for our family. If you're craving Korean BBQ but want the comfort and fun of doing it at home, this is the way to go! The night I came by, there were high traffic in the parking lot, it's usually not like that. I decided to park a little further away, no big deal. Once entering and walking around to look for the essentials. I noticed items were neatly placed on shelves with labels facing forward! The OCD in me really loved seeing that! It just made everything I needed easier to find. I picked up almost all the beef options available in the meat department (over $240) and pork belly. Was sad they did not have pork cheeks available though because it was highly requested. While it's not the cheapest , the freshness and quality of these cuts made it worth every penny. The banchan selection was top-notch!! Everything you've ever had served in any KBBQ restaurant is available, packed and ready to enjoy at home. While the supermarket does get a bit crowded, especially in the meat and vegetable sections, it's worth the patience for the quality. You might find yourself dodging other carts here and there, but the checkout process more than makes up for it. And oh! While shopping, I stumbled upon a jar of honey citron tea and now I'm obsessed! It's so good that I plan on gifting jars to everyone I know. Perfect for and after meals. Perfect for mornings or night. And perfect for on the go as a substitute for all the caffeine I've been drinking. Please refer to the photo I posted! Purchased a bowl and snapware and both had issues. The snapware broke after first use and the stainless steel bowl had a chip at the base. I used the bowl a few times. The store does not stand behind the products they sell and would not exchange the items. Do not buy hardware goods from this location. I can spend all day in this place. It's a huge store. From raw to cooked food, everything looks good. Tried the hot stone bibimbap at the deli. It was delicious. Banchan was good as well. The gentleman who helped us was very polite, offered extra setting/bowl. Told us to add gojuchang little at a time. We like gojuchang so we added it all in. read more

Han Kook Korean Market is probably the most popular Korean market in the South Bay. It's pretty large, and always clean, organized, and well stocked. The produce and meat sections are usually very fresh. They also have snack bar for to go, mini bakery, Korean cosmetics, and kitchen cookware area. You can even grab a hot meal at mini food court area. Most of the staff are decent and fairly friendly. Parking is usually fine on weekdays, though it can get a bit hectic on weekends. I like this market, some Asian markets tend to have a strong smell that I'm not quite used to, but Han Kook Market doesn't have that, which is a big plus for me! read more

Whoah! This South Korean grocery store is giant and amazing. I had no idea this place existed. I noticed it while driving by and decided to stop by. There were so many goodies, and they had everything from food to cosmetics to a deli to a bakery to seeds to "ready to go" food and a lot of other things I probably missed. This is just for the meat department. The store closes at 9, but the workers are consistently cleaning the entire meat section before 8:30. If it was 8:45, I'd understand. But I went 30 min earlier because they cleaned it out by 8:45 last time, and still this time, I see a worker cleaning the whole section. There are people like me who end work late, and find this store to have good quality meat nearby my house, now I have to go all the way to H Mart to get meat? Please do something about this, @management, this will end up losing customers because of fear that you'll have everything closed. I completely understand wanting to go home after a long day, but please be reasonable with the closing time or have some sort of clear sign on when they will start cleaning out the meat department. read more

Solid Korean market that delivers on quality, options, and cleanliness. While the parking lot can get hectic quickly during busy times, it's generally not too bad. The supermarket itself is very spacious, extremely clean, and has so many options to offer! From the typical packaged snacks and drinks, to freshly made banchan and good quality meats. The prices aren't the cheapest but the quality is also high so everything seems within reason. As one of the OG Korean stores in the area, it's still a crowd favorite and I've been stopping by here over the years. The staff is generally very helpful and fast. There can be long lines at checkout but they just due to how popular and busy it can get at times. Overall, it's a good supermarket for your Korean grocery needs! read more

They have gone downhill. They don't check their shelves. They sell expired products - this is 1 year past their milled date. Just bought this premium rice today and they won't refund unless I bring it in which is an hr drive away. Why do they need it back when it needs to be discarded?? I frequent a lot of Korean markets, and Hankook is by far my favorite. I usually find myself there late on a weeknight, and there are still so many items in stock. Everything is so well organized, and the store is spaced out nicely. I've gotten overwhelmed in more cramped, crowded markets, but Hankook never feels that way. My favorite items are their prepared banchan (such a diversity of dishes), frozen items and different kimchis. Prices are comparable to other markets, and staff are always quick at the registers. Love shopping here for everything imported from Korea. Also they have in the middle of the store prepped side dishes you usually get at kbb restaurants. I love getting the fish cakes! They have fresh produce that's really good! They have this section for pillows and housewares as well! It's a must try spot if you're looking to try a new supermarket. The soju is great to get if you're looking for something to drink at home. Tip* If you want cold drinks they have it in the corner of the store where the fridge area is. Hankook Supermarket is still one of my favorites for Korean groceries. They have everything you need and grocery prices are still more decent compared to competitors. SPAM meat is still $2.49 per can. Vegetables/produce section items have increased in prices, but still very good in selections. Cashiers ring customers up quickly. Avoid heavy foot traffic by going during morning hours. I've been eyeing the small grill pan since the start of the pandemic and the one that I purchased this week is still $22.99 each. No price change in nearly five years. Amazing. Very good price for value. Small grill can easily feed table of 2-4. Most grill pans on the market are much bigger in size and costly, especially those longer and wider sized grills. My small Made In Korea grill pan doesn't fire up bursting in flames or get overly smoked. I pour water into the bottom pan and the oily grease fully evaporates towards end of grilling session. Grill was easy to clean with the right scrubber too. Just top it evenly onto your portable gas stove. Fits well. You control the fire. Easy to store this slim shaped grill. I am very satisfied and should have purchased it years ago, but glad I came back for it. If you like smokeless grills and other Korean BBQ grill pans/plates, they have them here. $22.99 is a blessing for my home cooking BBQ needs. Don't forget to pick up good chicken and beef meats to grill. It's much cheaper if you marinate your own with their $1.99-$2.49 sauces in a packet instead of buying the premade or already marinated meats on displays. Add garlic. Constantly roll a fresh cut lemon around on the hot grill to keep it clean. Lemon/vinegar is good on stainless steel stuff. Absolutely satisfied with my grill pan for delicious cooking adventures. read more

Great Korean Market with a variety of Korean specialties at an affordable price. Coming from the East Bay, most of the Korean supermarkets are priced highly but here the prices are much lower and affordable. The store is quite large, clean, and has a nice layout. They have lots of fresh produce, drinks, frozen foods, snacks, and a fresh hot foods section. The Korean rice cakes tasted good, hot, and fresh at $9.99 a pack. Will definitely be back. read more

We drove quite a distance to the S.Bay to check out Hankook. There was some insta thing that made us check them out. Hankook had some nice offerings of all things Korean. So that was in true form... fresh veggies, banchan and kimchi aisle were very nooice...great variety of snacks, noodles, frozen items...etc etc...BUT matched up to KP-Kukje-Hmart, I feel have better deals and sales and variety...imo. Also it's also very busy in Hankook, almost every aisle and line were crowded. Always w/ the kpop music so vibes were lively and fun! Not bad, but also kinda...BUT Kamsahamnida very much. read more

After Kyo-Po's unfortunate demise, I thought I'd check out Hankook. I couldn't get past the doorway as they don't allow personal shopping carts. I've been using my own shopping cart since 2020, and no other store has a problem with that. Hankook does, and as a result, they won't get all the business I used to give to Kyo-Po. read more

Delicious lunch at Hankook from the deli. Ordered the gimbap and japchae. The order came with free banchan (kimchi and radish) and onion(?) soup. The gimbap was soft, crunchy (center), and tasty. The japchae was light in flavor but still tasted good. The banchan was good. The radish was refreshing and the kimchi was different than expected. The kimchi had a slightly more sour flavor. The soup was good but a bit salty. Overall the meal was good. read more

8/8/2023: I've been plotting visiting Hankook for YEARS since, moving to Placerville~whoa--I'm a BIG SPENDER! There are too many products Hankook Sunnyvale has in their inventory which the other Hankook Markets such Oakland CA and Rancho Cordova CA lack, i.e., product authenticity and produce freshness which by reviewing my purchase receipt, one may readily determine what and why I purchased from Hankook Sunnyvale. First, Oakland CA and Rancho Cordova CA oddly do not have in their inventory, a simple, square omelette pan nor do either stores make Korean acorn jelly or seafood Kimchee . . . Why?! I dunno the answer why . . . Sadly, I must learn how to make acorn jelly and seafood Kimchee; however and presently, I guess I'll make a yearly visit shopping at Hankook then, freeze every item in bite-size portions in order, metering how much I can inhale until, I make another trip visiting Hankook Sunnyvale NEXT YEAR . . . ????? read more

Still has a nice selection of items, but stay away from prepacked food. The prepacked food used to be good. Now they are either old or just made wrong. I bought some prepacked vegetables that were supposedly made on the same day, but had a rotting taste. Come to think of it, it says "Packed on..." not "made on..." I guess they aren't lying. They need to retrain their cashiers. Most of them seem miserable working there and have an attitude. Their prices is on the high side and there are lots of other Asian markets to shop beside this place. I will avoid this place from now on. read more

Well, when I got home and ate the deli food, it was of lower quality than KP Market; so now I better understand why it is so much cheaper... Overall a good size Asain supermarket. Korean, Japanese, and Chinese foods. Produce, fish, meat, deli departments; hot foods & banchan bar. Catering available also. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm. They also independently operated smaller stores which include HK Super Deli, The Amore (cosmetics), Baker's Village, Roll 'N Noodle, Eden Total Fashion, and Umeken (wellness products). PRODUCE Love the produce here! Very fresh and has an array of Asian vegetables and fruits. Korean pears are one of my fav so I always grab a pack-- especially when it's on sale! MEAT There's lots of pre-sliced and packaged meat to do your own KBBQ or Shabu Shabu at home. I always enjoy their pre-packaged marinated chicken, beef, or pork for easy weekday dinner meals. Hankook Market: Great Deals on Groceries, But Miss the Robot Restaurant! Hankook Market is my go-to for big sales on Korean groceries! They're definitely cheaper than Hmart, especially for things like makgeolli (which is the cheapest I've ever seen!). This time I came a little late in the day, so the pre-made and hot food section was pretty picked over. They also have some small clothing shops inside, but those weren't really my style. One thing that makes me sad is that the cute Korean robot restaurant that used to be inside is now out of business. That was a fun experience! Anyway, despite missing the robots, I still recommend Hankook for the amazing deals. This time I scored ice cream for only $1.99 a box like nougat, chestnut, and even Tank Boy which would normally be $5.99! read more
