I am hellaciously uncertain this place is worth returning to, yet I continue to do so time and time again. Being raised in the Flint area and working near Mega, this place is NOT your typical Flint diner/coney island. It just isn't. The interior is flashy and automotive themed, in a style that should have been left to Coty's Westside Diner. I have eaten a fair amount of items on the menu - coneys, omelets, Greek salad, gyros, and cheeseburgers. Breakfast items are probably your best bet here, they are pretty consistent but sometimes it just seems like you could have bought $9 worth of satisfaction in a different format. Service here varies. Our waitress was new so I wasn't going to say anything but I felt it necessary during a pandemic. We had a group of 10. Bacon fries were delivered to the wrong member of our group while they were away from the table and the waitress saw someone else in our group eat a few off the plate (I know she saw because she commented on it). We immediately realized they were the wrong fries so the waitress put them back in the window, where I saw another waitress (unknowingly) serve them to HER table after they'd been touched by OUR group. When the correct member of our group asked for them back (seeing as they were supposed to go to her to begin with), our waitress said they'd been served to someone else and new ones would be up soon (nothing came up correctly, everything came out at random times, and we had to ask continuously for refills, sauces, etc., some of which we never even received, not to mention I was charged separately for 3 things that the menu stated came as a meal price, but that's not my point). Our waitress knew that the already-partially-eaten fries had been served to another table and didn't stop it. I get that's embarrassing to take something away after they'd begun to eat it, but that other table ate finger food that strangers had touched, and our waitress let them, during a global pandemic, no less. The bathrooms were dfilthy, they didn't have 5's or 1's on hand so I couldn't leave a decent tip (I wanted to be gracious), and the staff were all yelling at eachother. It was a lousy clusterf**k. Used to go here a lot. The food was great and the service was equal. We started experiencing problems within the last 6 months. The first red flag was that almost all the staff we became accustomed to seeing, were gone and the new waitstaff was not very attentive. They were also mopping the floor, where patrons were eating, with a solution that had so much bleach it was hard to eat. The second red flag occurred the next two visits. We visited in April and I ordered the fish dinner, my husband had the Mega bacon cheeseburger. Before I could finish, I told my husband to take care of the bill as I had to make a quick exit. I went home and was vomiting for 16 hours. I pawned it off to being coincidence and maybe I was just coming down with something or possibly the coleslaw. Well, my husband talked me into go back there early morning on August 4th, 2013. The place was unusually empty, compared to in the past at this time, when you may have had to go elsewhere because there was no available seating. I decided to stay away from the fish this time and ordered the Mega bacon cheeseburger, as did my husband, but I had lettuce on mine and my husband did not. My husbands food came and I was told by the waitress that she forgot to turn my order in. ???? Wouldn't it be on the same ticket? About 7 minutes later my food arrived. The burger didn't look like normal, you know, a ground (stringy) beef patty like you'd make at home. It also seemed to taste a little odd. Well, same thing happened, I had to rush out of the restaurant before finishing my meal and make it home in time so I could commence vomiting again. This time it lasted 18 hours and I was bedridden for 3 days. I posted a comment to their Facebook wall, where there were other negative comments within the last 8 months and I also called the Genesee County Health Department about the food poisoning. I just noticed a couple of days ago that they have removed all negative posts on their Facebook page and left only stellar comments, which I find to be dishonest for the patron. So, I decided I will post here and see what happens. I honestly used to love eating here and would give it rave reviews, but something has happened and it has gone downhill horribly and I would not recommend anyone take a chance. Even McDonald's on Miller Rd., which I loathe, got better inspection reports from the Health Department than Mega. We visited almost 3 weeks to the day after their latest inspection (7-15-2013) and it appears that maybe they are still violating the cold food protocol. Last night, my girlfriend, my girlfriend's 12 year old daughter and our friend and her 9 year old niece came to eat dinner at the restaurant. We have eaten at the restaurant multiple times over the past 2 years. The restaurant was busy and there were not any open tables. The staff that was at the front of the restaurant was very apologetic and told us it could be 15 minutes or so before they could seat us. We were all fine with the wait and a couple of the staff were great about updating us on a table that was about to open up. We had been waiting 15-20 minutes and a group of 3 young men came in restaurant behind us. Shortly thereafter, a waitress entered the restaurant to start her shift and for some reason, even though she had no idea what was going on, proceeded to tell the 3 young men that she would get them a table. One of the young men then took that as cue to go find a table, even though he knew that our group was still waiting for a table. He noticed the table being cleared off for our group and with a smirk, motioned for his friends to come sit down and then he proceeded to sit down at the table. We had watched this and began to complain, to which the young man's 2 friends who were still at the front of the restaurant, remarked that it was just a table, like we were making too big a deal of it. This started an argument between our group and the 2 young men. They proceeded to call me a "n-gg-r" and threatened to f-ck me up. I made the staff aware that I was threatened. At that point, we decided to leave the restaurant before things got out of hand, especially since we had children with us. It is unfortunate that one waitress' mistake and the staff's inability to manage the situation almost led to a physical altercation between customers. The staff's first response, knowing that a customer had been physically threatened, should have been to call police. Instead, they tried to placate all the parties and not charge for the meal. Needless to say, we will not ever be going back there. The management seems to be more concerned with business than the safety of its customers. Being a 24-hour restaurant, the restaurant really should have a security person. At the very least, the restaurant needs to manage their seating better so this kind of situation does not happen again, perhaps with a worse ending. read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time. It has a certain "curb appeal" that made me want to stop in. I can not say that I was impressed. The menu is typical diner fare. For $9 I expected more, especially in taste. I had a turkey Reuben which amounted to sliced turkey lunchmeat fried in a griddle. My wife had the mushroom Swiss burger which she said she has had much better. We shared a plate of fries which again did not have much flavor at all. The service was fine and the waitress was friendly. It was clean but the old time music was a little to loud to allow conversation. read more

The boyfriend and I decided to stop into this diner for some late night food and walked out of this diner with empty stomachs. When we first arrived we were told that our server would be right back. We received nothing, not even water. An older man with a child came in, ordered and were eating before we got acknowledged again. Turns out that our waitress' shift had ended during our stay, and our replacement wasn't so great either. Wonderful Service! Work for a trucking company and the route manager wanted to buy our 3rd shift drivers breakfast. I called in a very large order the day before and advised that we would pick up the order at 3 AM the following morning. The order was for 13 guys... 13 very hungry guys. I had the route manager call at 1:30 in the morning to confirm he would be there to pick it up at 3--they absolutely insisted that they would deliver this order. It was promptly delivered at 3 AM... each guys meal was in it's own bag with their name on it--I so appreciated that effort so we did not have to open all the boxes and figure out what belonged to who! The food was all hot and fresh--which is amazing because it was only 3 above last night! Everyone enjoyed the food--everything was correct and well prepared. Every bit of food was happily consumed! I use to love this diner, but the quality of food has gone down immensely, it seems the owners do not take pride in the restaurant anymore. The employees are unprofessional and rude. I went in with a few friends Saturday night after going out because it is the only restaurant in the area open 24hrs, our waitress was very nice and attentive and it would have been a great experience except for the fact that are eggs were burnt and none of the food was cooked correctly as ordered, but the biggest disturbance was the other waitresses fighting with our waitress which turned physical!! My friends and I could not believe that our poor waitress was beaten up by 2 other waitresses, my friend overheard the arguement and apparently the 2 other waitresses were stealing our waitresses tips all night and because she confronted them she got suckerpumched in the face! No one said anything or tried to help then they kicked out waitress out when she did nothing wrong, my friends and I left immediately and reported it. I will never go there again. We used to eat here three times a week. Today we went for Breakfast and neither one of us had butter on our toast. When we ask we were told that the cook had been instructed to only butter one piece and turn it over. We also noticed all the waitress which had been there from opening were gone. If the cheap owner wants to cut costs at the expense of the patrons then he will lose a lot of patrons. we can go down the road to the coney on the corner and for the same price special get 1/2 slice ham, two saugage, two bacon , hash browns and toast that is warm and buttered. so goodbye Mega read more

The food may be decent, but from what I have experienced, the owner is Rude! He treats his employees horrible and it seems they have a pretty big turnover. They always have a million people training and it doesn't seem like anyone stays long. I can't eat at a place where people are being mistreated.
