I recently spotted the Signature Shaved Ice (L) at the kiosk--I'm not sure if it's new or making a comeback, but I was excited to try it! With all the different toppings, it reminded me of the delicious shaved ice I used to have in Taiwan. The Chocolate Chip Deluxe Waffle paired perfectly with the vanilla ice cream, although it was a little on the sweeter side for my taste. I didn't catch the name of the lady who helped me, but she was incredibly kind and did an amazing job preparing these desserts. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience! Feel free to check out my food Instagram @eattwithjoy for more reviews and foodie finds!
Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert shop specializing in traditional Chinese-style sweet dessert soups--comforting bowls built around ingredients such as red beans, sago, grass jelly, purple rice, tofu pudding, and almond. These desserts are common across Taiwan and much of East Asia, where sweet soups serve the role that cakes or pastries might in the West: a warm or cooling treat at the end of a meal or as an afternoon snack. The brand itself originated in Taichung, Taiwan, where it began as a small family shop inspired by traditional dessert recipes passed down through generations. Today Meet Fresh has expanded internationally, but the menu remains rooted in those classic Taiwanese dessert traditions. The menu includes hot and cold dessert soups, along with bubble teas, specialty drinks, ice creams, shaved ice desserts, and egg waffles--served plain or with a variety of fillings. I stopped in for a bowl of their Combo A hot red bean soup, topped with taro balls, fragrant red beans, crunchy peanuts, and soft, chewy boba. I also ordered a hot almond milk. For those unfamiliar with it, red bean soup is one of the classic desserts of Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine. Made from adzuki beans simmered until soft, it has a naturally earthy sweetness that is comforting without being overly sugary. It's often served hot in cooler weather and chilled in summer. The bowl here was generous and piping hot, exactly what you want from a dessert soup. The sweetness was well balanced--sweet, but not cloying--and the toppings added layers of texture that kept each spoonful interesting. The taro balls are another Taiwanese specialty: chewy dumplings made from taro and sweet potato starch with a texture somewhere between mochi and gnocchi. These were nicely elastic and pleasantly chewy. The peanuts added crunch, while the boba pearls brought their familiar soft chew, making the bowl a fun mix of textures. The hot almond milk was fragrant and soothing. In Chinese dessert culture this type of almond drink is often made from apricot kernels (sometimes called "Chinese almonds"), which gives it a slightly different aroma than Western almond milk. This one was very tasty, though it leaned a bit sweeter than I personally prefer. Service was pleasant and efficient, and the shop has ample seating, making it easy to sit and enjoy your dessert rather than rushing out the door. For anyone curious about Taiwanese desserts--or simply looking for something beyond cakes and pastries--Meet Fresh offers a comforting introduction to a whole world of sweet soups, chewy toppings, and traditional dessert flavors. I would happily return to explore more of the menu.
Meet Fresh is an international chain serving up Taiwanese desserts- shaved iced and grass jelly desserts along with milk tea and waffle creations. I'd recommend creating a custom dessert for what I felt like is better value, and coming at an off-hour due to the difficulty of finding parking in the plaza. --- Meet Fresh has a wide variety of desserts available: -Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice (L)- I shared it between 4 people, and while it was a good size and I enjoyed the toppings, personally it felt too expensive for the amount of ice! I would be on the fence reordering this. -Signature Grass Jelly (hot)- This came with a side of peanuts. For the relatively expensive signature grass jelly dish, I was a bit disappointed at the ratio of grass jelly to toppings. I would pass next time. -Custom icy grass jelly with 5 toppings [sesame rice balls, taro ball, ice cream, sago, and Q mochi (taro mochi)]- This came with a side of creamer. I really enjoyed both the flavor and toppings in the custom icy grass jelly!! The ratio of toppings was better for sure, but it is a more expensive option. I'd probably still go for this option next time. The restaurant is more or less self-service. It is self-seating. You first order at the kiosk or counter, and then retrieve your order once your number is called. Later, you take your tray and clean up yourself. The interior can seat fairly large groups, maybe 20-40 people total depending on how you sit. One of the biggest obstacles to enjoying Meet Fresh is finding parking in the hectic and overcrowded parking lot. I'd find it hard to justify fighting to find parking for Meet Fresh until I had something else to also do in the plaza. Overall, our group had pretty mixed ratings, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd recommend coming when you're willing to splurge on a custom dessert creation.
Great spot for Taiwanese desserts. I especially love the red bean soups and the mochi. There's plenty of seating inside, and a kiosk to order from. A rewards program is also available for frequent flyers. This is located in the Festival plaza, so parking can get pretty dicey on the weekends and some weekday evenings. Once you've secured a spot however, there is lots of seating indoors to hang around and relax.
We were getting dinner near by and I decided to get some tea from Meet Fresh. It's a popular restaurant for afternoon sweets, shaved ice and bubble tea. Vibrant colors and people inside the store. People chatting and hanging out having good times. I love the black tea. Strong tea flavor, no water down. Took about 10-15mins to get it because of high volume.
Great place for Asian style desserts. They have shaved ice, egg waffles, bubble tea and hot and cold dessert soups. We decided to share a cold one on a hot summer day after lunch. Chose the ice grass jelly signature dessert. It came with taro mochi balls, chunks of grass jelly and ice in a brown sugar cold soup. We had almond tofu added to customize. The taro balls had similar chewiness with sago/boba. The grass jelly tasted real brewed (not from a can). The soup was not too sweet, had just the right amount of brown sugar taste. The almond tofu was mixed in and just as refreshing as the rest of the ingredients. Also shared an iced lemon black tea. It had a citrusy slightly sweet tang, which offset the slight bitterness of real tea. It was the prefect complement to the grass jelly dessert.
I love a different and new experience! When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted. They had so many dessert and treat options and Chloe helped me and she was nice. I went with the: - Mango & Passion Fruit Green tea - Chocolate deluxe egg waffle - Boba tofu pudding - Black sugar Boba milky shaved ice I really enjoyed the Chocolate deluxe Egg waffle. The waffle didn't get super hard like I have experienced before. Everything was very good and I had a good experience!
I have been a fan of Meet Fresh since they came to Edison! They offer a wide variety of delicious treats from icy taro ball or icy grass jelly, shaved ice with fruit or mochi and so many tasty drinks! I would strongly recommend you give them a try and it's a good idea to sign up for their rewards because I'm sure you will come back to visit them again! They usually have monthly discount specials and if you get the app you can order your items in advance to reduce waiting.
Love the Chinese desserts at Meet Fresh. First time visit this location. I came around the time of opening on a weekend and it was pretty empty. We had the plan pretty much to ourself and it was really comfortable. I ordered at the kiosk and it took around 5 minuets to have our order ready. We dinned in and the portions are pretty generous. I always go for the Icy Grass Jelly Signature, it's my favorite and was good as it always is. If you frequent Meet Fresh like I do, they have a loyalty program where you can earn points to redeem for discount.
Came back to this Meet fresh after a long time. Menu is pretty much still the same. Got my favorite mango shaved ice. Delicious soft sweet mango on top of tasty shaved ice and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Just soul touching. Also got a mango passion fruit tea to go. Refreshing drink. Got to the egg waffle too. Soft and fluffy, really tasty waffles. Love coming to this store. The store not so busy. Most of the tables were empty and clean. Lots of staff were working in the kitchen. Dishes were made and served within 15 minutes.
Very cute - seating if around 15-20 people. You order on kiosks and you get your desserts pretty fast! They have a large variety of drinks and shaved ice combinations. They were pretty good sizes for the price and everything was extremely tasty!
These bowls are massive!! I would have only ordered one if I knew how big they are. They really need to offer smaller sizes as the price is quite hefty too. We ordered the shaved ice with taro ball and this soft tofu dish. The ice wasn't all that smooth and was a tad too icy (if that even makes sense). The huge scoop of taro on top was quite bland. I felt like the mushed up the taro with no sugar or anything and plopped it on top. The soft tofu with bubbles were ok. Flavoring was good, but some part of the tofu wasn't smooth. Bubbles were cooked nicely though. Space is large, but tables were dirty and sticky. I don't think I will be back
Who doesn't like a refreshing Taiwanese dessert spot? Meet Fresh makes some of the best boba in the area, especially on its delicery of consistency. On this trip, we got a large-sized Shaved Ice with the Q Mochi and Pudding to share amongst 3 people (and we honestly could have ordered the medium-sized since we were STUFFED). They seem to be trying to go for a more grandiose plating method, since the shaved ice was definitely piled up highhhhh on the platter. The ice was a good consistency of of milky and icey, with 1/3 sweetness perfect for us so we aren't drinking ice cream soup by the end. We tried their new potaro balls and sesame balls. With only 2 sesame balls for $1.25, we would definitely recommend getting the potaro balls instead of you want some peanut or sesame stuffed mochi balls. Nice and chewy as always! If you use the Meet Fresh membership app, you could also get a discount for getting the 1/3 sweetness option. I can't say I don't notice the quality slipping since they opened years ago, so we have to go with the 4-stars. The tables don't seem to get wiped down anymore between customers, -or at least significantly less often- so you live with the russian roulette of possibly picking a sticky table. But compared to other dessert places around, they definitely have more seating.
I love myself some Meet Fresh! It's one of my go-to Asian dessert places to go to in California, so I was pleasantly surprised to find one open here in NJ. I got so excited that I ordered some extra bowls to go for my mom and brother. If you order over $10 of other stuff, they also had a soft serve deal for $2 which I guess was a deal only at the Edison branch. We ended up trying that :D Here's a review of everything I got: - Mini Q & Melon Jelly Soft Serve: I would definitely get this again! I liked that the mini Q taro and sweet potato balls were smaller. The soft serve itself was pretty yummy, perfect amount of creaminess. I'm generally not a huge fan of jelly so didn't think much of the melon Jelly. It also comes with two pirouline chocolate sticks! - Tofu Pudding with Peanuts (cold): pretty standard for tofu pudding, probably the best you can get around here. The ones I have in Taiwan are still slightly better though since the tofu is a bit more silky. - Red Bean Signature (hot): I normally wouldn't get this, but since my mom likes red bean I decided to get it for her. She liked it because it wasn't too sweet, and I thought it was pretty good too. I mostly liked the boba and the taro and sweet potato balls in it! read more

Felt like I wanted to like Meet Fresh but I was just underwhelmed. The positive note was that the menu had a lot of selections for you to choose from. at here were pre-made items that you can select and you can also create your own bowl of desert. I decided to create my own... little did I know, I added too many things that didn't quite compliment each other. I didn't know until later that I could've added creamer to my mix as well, it would've made my bowl a lot better i believe. It was a quick process where you go up to order and pay. Then they give you a beeper which will go off once your food is ready. It wasn't as packed as it originally was when it had first opened so we didn't have any issues with that. I think this is a unique spot overall but it's not a place where I would reach for to satisfy my cravings. read more

everything was sooo yummy!! the egg waffles were a little difficult to eat with the ice cream but they were really good! the green tea waffle and red bean ice cream was not my favorite but it was still good. the chocolate one was definitely better! the mango and strawberry shaved ice was sooo addictive. the fruit was very fresh and perfect for the dessert. the large size was a lot even for 7 people but we def tried to finish the whole thing! overall really good desserts and the waffles take a bit longer to make but the service was very efficient. read more

At first I thought the price was steep but after I had a taste of it, I didn't know how hefty and delicious it was. The portion was just like a full meal mixed with ice cream, taro, shaved ice, mochi, etc. the potato mochi was amazing and chewy. It was a well balanced of healthy and sweet deliciousness. It definitely hits the spot during a warm summer day. They also have hot desserts as an option. Definitely will be back again for this delightful dessert. read more

I was super excited to go here and seeing all the different options. I got the hot herbal jelly with taro balls, sesame balls, pudding and melon jelly. 11$ something it has come to. It came out and looked like this. I thought they forgot to put everything in but it was down on the bottom. There were about 8 small taro balls (I counted ) and two sesame balls. They did however forget the pudding. I went to ask about it and the person there didn't believe me and wanted to see it. Then she insisted there were more taro balls in there etc.... She then used her spoon to try to dig out more in my cup. Then she said there's usually ten or more. Then her answer changed to some times it's less. Ok..... not sure why she didn't believe me and had to go into my jelly and check. Finally she did get some what was missing. But it was not very jelly like. It seemed like they ran out of the herbal jelly and poured in the liquid left overs. The taste was fine and the mini taro balls were good. But just not a good experience overall. It looked NOTHING like any of the pics. Granted yes it was hot (warm ) but the pics of the hot ones looked nothing like it. My bf who was with me had gone to another one of their locations and said the one he got looked nothing like the one I received. This is what it looked like when I opened it. I def don't recommend it. It was big yeah but lol can't really have a giant bowl and nothing in there. I would stick to mango mango or sweet spot. Edit: thank you for your response and no need to be extremely defensive. In my review I said there were two sesame balls as you confirmed. And yes ty for confirming that your employee went in and dig in there as well. I took out all the other balls and were 8 total. I also had someone counting as I took them out and checked with me. So either we are both wrong or we can't count ? It was super liquidy as you can see from the picture compared to the more solid jello texture seen in the other pictures etc. I understand everyone has a bad night. In the end it was still 11$ for that(I never asked for my money back or got it back either) . If I had just gone home I wouldn't have gotten the missing pudding.. read more

Dear Julie,…
I got the signature jelly dish with a side of ice cream and also got the double taro. I do find this place quiet expensive for it is. If it was bigger, I think it would have been a better deal. The jelly and mochi do taste delicious. The brown sugar mix was just okay in my opinion. The mix is not that tasty and your better off going to Kung Fu tea next door. The boba on it is good though. read more

Went for some dessert with family and friends on a weekend evening. We got seated although it was pretty crowded and the wait time for the menu items was about 25 minutes. Not too sweet. Dear Skittles-Cat,…
I've been here a handful of times now. They are consistently very busy, especially on the weekend, so expect to have to wait a little for your order to be taken and for your food to be ready. They have vibrating buzzers so you don't have to wait in line. I've tried a couple things here but I always come back to the icy grass jelly signature. It's the perfect sweetness and the balls have such a satisfying chew. They have new ube items recently so we tried one with taro and ube paste. I didn't like the ube as much as the taro paste unfortunately but probably just a personal preference. The items here are on the pricey side for dessert, both items here cost me around $20. However they are generous portions, each one is more enough for two people to share. I think it would be great if they could offer smaller single person sizes for a portion of the price. read more

i've tried their taro ball #4 and taro ball #2 and i think i like 2 better because it has sweet potato in it :) overall pretty fresh ingredients and not too sweet! however i think i rly like their bubble tea the best. there's no picture but their bubble tea tastes very natural and not super artificial. they also give you a lot of boba lol. and all their drinks come in large size for the price of about 4-5$ so it's pretty affordable! i rly like their jasmine milk tea :) a nice dessert place to go to after u eat a nice meal! read more

Today, My wife and I went to Meet fresh, We have been at this place many times since the opening. We have noticed ingredients in the dishes are getting less and less. my wife ordered Read Bean Soup B( 10.75 per bowl）, when we first time there half years ago, the dish is like picture one, you see toro, other ingridients floating on the soup surface(picture one). But lately, you hardly see ingredients in the soup and today is the worst(picture 2) i went to complain about it, and this guy use the spoon working very hard to show me a small piece toro and couple other. And shamedly he said that's what it should be) we will never go back to meet fresh again. read more

One of the most interesting, tasty dessert places I've tried in a long time. I ordered the Icy Grass Jelly (#6) and Winter Melon Tea. I also ordered two other items and all of it was ready within minutes. The tea was really refreshing. The bowl was not overly sweet and full of texture. I would love to go back and try their shaved ice and hot menu when it's available! read more

This is my 2nd time here! The first time I got a drink because I was unfamiliar with the desserts. I decided to try the grass jelly signature because I liked all the ingredients in it but thry ran out of big taro balls so I substituted it with mini taro balls which was basically the same thing. My sister got the matcha shaved ice which had alot of different ingredients. I wasn't a fan of the almond jelly and I was actually surprised how sweet it was. It could be from the ice cream. They had a temporary running promotion of a free popcorn snack when you spend over $25. Overall I would definitely come here again to try the other desserts! read more

I ordered the chocolate chip egg waffle with ice cream added ($1 extra). It was amazing!! The waffles were not really warm but because of that they were crunchy so able to be eaten with the ice cream well. Will definitely be back to try the other flavors!! An allergen warning though - if you get the deluxe options those come with mixed nuts on top so make sure to look into that!! read more
