I need two 2x10x16 kiln dried pieces to complete a project. Meeks was the only place in which I could get them and it was a special order. Once I placed the order with the salesperson on the phone I was given a delivery day and time. That day came and went. No delivery. I called Meeks and they informed me the lumber hadn't arrived yet and delivery would be the following day. It would be wise and good customer service to inform customers that a scheduled delivery has changed so the customer doesn't waste a day waiting for a delivery. In the end I did get the lumber and the delivery guys were extremely courteous. read more

Yesterday I went to the Meeks store in Yreka. The person behind the counter was not wearing a mask. When I asked him about it he gave me a ration of shit about how he didn't and would not wear one. If you care about your health and do not want to get the Covid-19 virus I suggest you do not shop at Meeks. Go to Home Depot instead !!!! A Person from Meeks posted a reply calling me a lier. NOVEMBER 1, 2016 - UPDATE: The folks at the Redding Meeks made things right. With a day of posting my original review here on Yelp (and on the BBB website), we were contacted by the district manager (Sam), and then our sales rep (Larry). Both were extremely apologetic and VERY interested doing whatever was needed to make things right. The next day (Friday), Larry came out to see the insulation job (which had been cleaned up by our construction friend), and collected my photos of the original poor quality work. The following Monday Larry was here with an experienced crew who installed yellow netting on the entire underside of our house - at no cost to us. (The netting ensures that the batts and plastic vapor barrier will remain firmly in place.) Meeks (Sam) agreed to give our construction friend a $400 gift certificate to compensate him for the time he spent repairing and cleaning up after the original insulation installers, etc. Both men also let us know that the department head who had treated us so poorly had been dealt with, and told us we could rest assured he would not be treating anyone else the way he had treated us. We are content. Many thanks to both of you! "WOW" NOTE Meeks finished up a week ago yesterday, and our furnace has kicked on only three times since then. It's been pouring rain and outside temps have been in the low 50s at night, 60s during the day... Yet the temperature inside our house has stayed between 70-74 degrees. It's definitely worth it to insulate the underside of your house. Talk to Larry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ORIGINAL POST We had the underside of our house insulated through the Meeks Redding store in September 2016. We were VERY unhappy with our experience. They sent out clearly untrained kids (young men who were MAYBE 21?) to do the work. * They put the lightning rods in upside down so that when you walked on the floor above the rods fell out and the batting fell down. * They left several 15 foot runs under the house completely devoid of any batting. * They left the batting hanging down loosely in a lot of places. * They didn't insulate all the way to the edge of the underside, leaving several feet next to the foundation walls completely un-insulated. * They shoved a bunch of waste paper up in one corner instead of insulation. * They installed the batts improperly around the vents for our situation. * They initially used their old junk batting on our job. Not only did they send out kids who didn't know what they were doing, the insulation department manager verged on being rude to me when I called to request he send out someone more experienced to redo the job. So we called a construction friend who knows how to do insulation and asked him to look at their work and take photos. He was appalled, saying it was the worst job of insulating he had ever seen. He talked with the department manager, who agreed to send them out to redo their work... The upshot of it all is that Meeks DID finally finish insulating the underside of our house, doing a mediocre / barely acceptable job. But now it's a month and a half later and the rods continue to fall out, and the batting is only being held up in some places by the plastic vapor barrier we had installed by someone else. If you are a senior or a woman, do NOT hire Meeks to insulate anything. read more

Only giving a one for this recent experience. Here we go. Called the Twin View store on Tuesday looking for 1/4" pegboard. Told that they had 10 sheets on order and they'd be in on Thursday. Didn't want to wait, so I called the Anderson store, said they had two sheets. I drove to the store, went to the front counter and paid. Went out to the yard, found the empty spot where it should have been. Looked around for other spots, no luck. Back to the front counter for a refund. Stopped by Twin View store today, Friday. Asked where the pegboard was at the guard shack. He said that the pegboard came it BUT if was ordered for someone. So, there was none in stock that I could have. Went inside to ask about it (and whine a little). Spoke to S., he said the a local business had ordered 21 sheets and he couldn't get it from either of his suppliers, and someone had mistakenly given 10 sheets to some already. His suppliers were back ordered for 2+ weeks. Apologized profusely for the mix up. Sent me off to Payless and Weaver Lumber. I normally get pretty good service in the lumber yard side, store side not so much. Almost like they are run as two separate business units. I never leave a negative review without providing some info on my opinion and suggestions for improvement. 1) both Anderson and Twin View's inventory didn't match quantity available for sale. I wasted two hours running around i the heat after I had called to confirm stock. 2) neither store asked if I'd like to place an order. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and courteous. Just didn't help me get what I needed. :(. read more

We needed to replace a couple of our deteriorating decks. We chose Meek's to assist us with the project. Sean their deck expert is fantastic! He directed us to the right decking material and supported us through the entire process. We would recommend that anyone needing assistance with decking to go to Meek's just to get Sean's expertise. He is so knowleageable, professional, and personable. We also enjoyed interacting with Dave (the window guy) and Daniel in the warehouse. Meek's has some great people working for them. This place is overpriced. I purchased two doors. One was never even ordered and then they sold the other one to someone else a week later. I also purchased some lumber and the guys "guarding" the gate was a complete a**hole to me when the guy helping me load the lumber was the one who grabbed the incorrect stuff. I went to Meeks this morning to place a lumber order and have it delivered. I am replacing my deck so my order is going to be pretty large and costly. The lady at the counter asks how she could help. I told her my needs and she responded with yes I can help you with that. Cool, I said, pulling out my list when two gentlemen walk past. She calls out to them how may I help you they ask for what ever and she proceeds to helping them totally ignoring me, after several minutes I left. Only then as I was leaving did she say something to me. To me that's not how you treat a paying customer. read more
