WATCH OUT FOR THEIR INACCURATE WEBSITE!!!As a medical user with significant health issues after a brain injury, I already didn't love this place. Their set-up makes it clear they value recreational users way more than medical users. Unfortunately, that seems true everywhere I've gone (other than GreenGate, but now they are a Zen Leaf dispensary like this place, which was MedMen and is now Zen Leaf too). On my last visit here, in my preorder, I picked two products according to their website description: - Innocent 1:1:1 Dark Chocolate Cherries (which I've purchased many times at GreenGate, and are supposed to be 1:1:1 THC:CBD:CBN. This is important for me as I am trying to have the benefit of THC without the high of THC, and both CBD and CBN reduce THC's "high" feeling and CBN also helps with sleep, which I need. I even discussed with my bud tender how excited I was about the cherries, including discussing the CBN they had) - Sky Walker Live Sugar Wax (which I picked because the strain is excellent for nerve pain, and because it was a wax, I can lack coordination and always pick thicker, more solid concentrates so I'm able to break it apart and use it without spilling or wasting it) But instead of the items the website said I was purchasing, I got THC only cherries, and a Live Resin Sugar which is soupy and impossible for me to use. I even let them know my issue with the wax before I left (as soon as I realized it, which I found out from the bud tender as soon as I paid). The manager was completely unapologetic for the mislabeling and only offered to discount me if I wanted to buy something else (um, no, I'm not rewarding their f-up by giving them more money, thanks). I didn't realize the issue with the Cherries until I got home, wrote them an email and sent pictures and have heard... nothing. Wow. I just spent almost $300 at this place (which is a big order for me and needed to last a while), and tipped the bud tender $20 before I realized I'd been screwed. I now have $93 of product that won't work for my medical needs, and they can't even be bothered to respond. So now IDPH has received an email to alert them to multiple mislabeled products at this dispensary. Hoping that will get this place to do a better job, not that I'll ever spend another dime there. Including January 1st, I have been to MedMen in Evanston 7 times so this is long over due... My experience so far has been great, from a knowledgeable and friendly staff to quality products. I have purchased flower, cartridges, disposable pens, an assortment of edibles & drinks, and a pain relief lotion. I have recommended this shop to others and will continue to do so. My onIy bit of criticism is, I think it would better suit the customers to have the available menu accessible the night before online, rather then printed out the morning of. read more

I've never felt so ripped off buying weed. Over priced crap that does not match the online description. Taxes not included with the price and no mention or estimate given before showing up. I believe I had the honor of the GM herself checking me out, I recognised a natural born leader in her from the experience. She was a veteran when it came to knowledge and giving me the right answers to my questions. When I received a coupon for 20% off my order over $50, I decided to make a special trip since I prefer MedMen, but they would not honor it. Said it was for MedMen only. I purchased through the MedMen website, my receipt and products all say MedMen on them, in fact on my products it seems like another name is covered up by a MedMen sticker. Recreational client experience: I arrived a few minutes before 10am opening. Rec sales are limited from 10-2 to give priority to medical patients, as it should be. It was a 2 hour process. They have you line up in the parking garage. After 90 minutes my part of the line had moved indoors where they scan your ID and give out paper menus. From here you weave in another line where your order is taken and you are given a ticket with your order number. Finally, you move into the room where you retrieve your order and pay. THEY ONLY HAD 4 OPERATING REGISTERS. No wonder the lines are so long. Very poor selection of flower, only 2, both 2/3 CBD. Both from labs, not farms. I am no pot expert, but it's pretty cool that you can pick the type of pot you want and the type of high you want, and the employees can help with that. I tried two different kinds the first time, "layer cakes" & "lavender something" & was super happy. Went back for more of the same. The employee explained that things sell out and then they never get them again so I need to move on to something else. She was young and I'm not sure I completely believe her or if it was the convenient thing to say to sell something else. Could that really be true???? I asked her for help picking something calm & cheerful. She was nice but they had very few options in general. There were only three types of joints available. She was explaining that whenever there is a calm and happy well priced pot it sells out immediately because the Northwesten students buy it all up. We wound up settling on something that was so strong 2 small puffs made my head feel like it was doing somersaults. That was "Verano Swift Lifts" - and - never again. I switched over to this dispensary when my regular place closed down unexpectedly - aka they saved my ass! The associates were extremely kind, knowledgeable and patient despite it always being busy there. I have stopped by twice in the past week as a medical patient and was immediately helped. I even emailed beforehand to ask for a menu and received a reply very quickly with all the info I needed. I love that this place takes debit cards (saves me a trip to the ATM), and that you can do online pickups as a medical patient. That being said, if you leave a bad review here because you're mad you had to wait in line for recreational... Rude! That's your own fault for not getting there early. I waited in line for hours here the first day rec was legal (before I got my MMJ card), and the staff was STILL just as friendly and patient as they were today. I would like to say I walked into this dispensary not certain about how it would go, but I'm here to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The store was clean and I only had to wait like 30 minutes to be serviced. The location is a little wonky but they have a parking garage right next door. Parking garage price: less than an hr is FREE, 2-3 hrs is $3.00 and I think 4-5 hrs is something like $5 or $6. They were great and I DO recommend this place and I WILL go back again. Don't forget 10% off your first purchase as long as you register your email on their website. Also keep in mind: they do not have a large flower selection. Only two types. But they have a large assortment of cartridges and edibles. All carts are either disposable or half gram. read more

Conventional wisdom says that if you are planning on buying recreational marijuana products in the Chicago area, your best bet is to go to the suburbs. Conventional wisdom has served me well as MedMen Evanston is everything I wanted and then some. This particular branch is located in Evanston, Illinois. It's close enough to the city that makes it convenient to get to via transit but far enough to avoid the crowds. To give y'all a sense of the efficiency of this place, I paid for 1 hour of parking outside but was in-and-out within 20 minutes. Once you enter, you'll be led to a line and handed a sheet of paper of the daily offerings. Prices are a bit high (~$55 for 1/8th of an ounce, ~$30-40 for 10pc gummies), but that is more by regulatory design and taxes more than anything else. Only complaint I have is the number of times I was asked to show my ID. Once was by the front-door security, one by the guy handing us the paper in line, one by the person that took our order, and the last by the cashier when I paid. But I understand the amount of precaution that these places must operate under. Overall, still a great experience. 5/5. Fast & efficient. Lots of offerings. Will be back. read more

It's as good as it can be with such high demand and low supply. The people there were very nice!! I've been twice. It's a streamlined operation which is good. The law In IL doesn't allow for people to interact with the product before buying it. In CO you can smell the flower or see the edibles before you buy. IL dispensaries can't control that at this point, which is too bad. read more

There should be a change in management at this location. My friend and I wanted to pick up some medicinal marijuana. We were told by security we needed to order from leafly and have a pickup window. We ordered at 12:01, then waited for an hour, and finally on leafly it said our order was ready. We went to the first entrance line where you wait in a corridor, then security will then send you to another entrance and wait in another line, we showed the manger to that second entrance that our order was ready for pickup. He said did you receive a text when your pickup window is we said no we never got a text. Can we just go in we've been waiting for an hour now. He said to come back in 20 minutes to see if he can get us in. We come back to the second line and he said I checked and your pickup window is 4:15 pm. We never received a text can you just serve us that's a 4 hour wait to be out there. I get it the long wait it due to pandemic but a gentleman came up while arguing with the manager and said he just ordered, Management (guy in the white beard and blond hair, short and stocky) asked him what time is your pickup window and the man replied I didn't get a text. Management let him in anyway in front of us! Unbelieveable. We asked the management why the guy got special treatment and the manager said because he has "stellar" management skills. That was so unethical of manager to let some guy just walk up, not wait in line, mind you he was a white gentleman we we are both asian females. I sense some discrimination here. Management would not let us in to get our order and he said we weren't allowed in the store. We ordered in the Oak Park Madmen location but Evanston management is mismanaged, unprofessional, combative, and just plain out right rude. Gave Medmen 3 visits. Each time disappointed. Plan to spend your entire day waiting in line and don't expect what you want is in stock there. First time was 1 month after recreational was legalized and found the waiting line was 200 people going outside into the parking garage. Second time was 15 people in line but they had no flower in stock. Third time was during pandemic where Medmen insists you place your order online prior to arrival and they text you later with only a 45-minute window for pick up. When I arrived, there were over 100 people in line and was impossible to make a pick up with an their tight 45 minute time window. I also saw several Medmen employees outside standing around on break outside of lunch with so many waiting customers. Probably a number of reasons why a simple pick up & pay for an order already placed could take an entire day of your time. But it doesn't make sense that their pick up window is 45 minutes when customers are spending several hours in line and will never make it in time. Very inefficient business. It seems easier to buy illegally. read more

The staff was very friendly, however I have to give one star because they forgot to put 1 of my items in my bag and I was charged for it. If people are going to come and wait patiently in line, their order should be correct. I even left a $27 tip. So all in all I'm out $25 bucks and no edibles. STAY AWAY! If I could give zero stars I would. In fact, I'm not even a Yelp user but created an account just to give my horrible experience here. This was my first time trying to use this place (recreational) and will also be my last. Pathetic service is a bit of an understatement. Placed an order this morning at 10:36am. At 12:23pm I get a text saying "your order is ready" and gives a pickup window from 2:45-3:15. I called them to see if I could swing by earlier, no, they're strict on the times. No problem. Show up right at 2:45 and there's about 20 people in line ahead of me. Wait 30 min to get to the front. Get to the register and the guy, with a bag in his hand and receipt stapled to it, says unfortunately they're out of what I ordered, but they have a CBD flower product (that's already sitting in my bag he's holding). Definitely not what I want, ordered, or willing to buy. I asked why I wasn't notified, and was told it's first come first serve. Somehow I guess I'm confused as to how "your order is ready for pickup" text really means "maybe when you get here and wait 30 minutes we'll tell you that your 'order' is neither an order, nor reservation." What a joke. Talked to the guy at the front door on the way out, but just more shoulder shrugging and the half-hearted "we're doing our best". He told me I had a pretty late pickup time, as if I was the one who picked it and showed up late. Lmao. We're not talking Amazon levels of inventory management. It's pretty much basic counting but apparently that is too much of an expectation for a company operating in 2020. Maybe they need to lay off the product and learn how to run a business. I will not be going back and will do whatever I can to ensure that nobody I know does either. Other observations: Guy in line in front of me was turned away at the front of the line for some issue with his confirmation text, after waiting 30 min. Note: I am a medical patient, so keep in mind your experience may vary. Medmen Evanston gets a lot of hate here on yelp for problems with their recreational sales, and I agree some of that is warranted. But, people need to understand that our state legalized recreational cannabis out of nowhere; there isn't enough supply and only 50 or so dispensaries in the whole state. (Not to mention, there's an oligopoly of 7 or 8 firms that control all 21 growing facilities in Illinois that keep prices high. Also, the prices are further inflated by Illinois stringent seed to sale tracking requirements.) So I agree there are problems, but they are mostly out of Medmen's control. So, then why did I give Medmen 5 stars? In short, it's because they do the things they can control correctly: their staff is friendly and knowledgeable; the store is always clean, and they always ensure that there is supply for their medical patients. My only real complaint is actually that Medmen is still open for recreational sales. With Coronavirus affecting nearly every other business, it seems counterintuitive to have the large crowds that recreational marijuana brings. Many of Medmen's medical patients are old, and many are immunocompromised. Not to mention, the employees are all over each other during recreational hours as they try to cope with the demand. I don't see how proper social distancing can be practiced during recreational hours, and I'm worried for the staff as well as many of their patients. So, Medmen certainly isn't perfect, but they do their best, treat their customers and patients well, and have the best products. read more

I loved MedMen when they first opened up. Very friendly staff who always remembered me and a decent product selection. However there was no rewards points system until apparently today when I saw that I gained a whopping 8 points from a 35.00 purchase. The kicker is you have to get 200 points to get $5 off a purchase. $5?!?! That's the best they can do? I highly suggest going to greenhouse in Skokie. Better prices, selection and way better points system! They even offer double points days and good sales that are actually worth your while. MedMen is gonna have to step it up... read more

My name is Homer, I'm a medical patient and I've been at this location since I got my medical cannabis card ( the beginning of the second week of legal medical cannabis use). Now I understand and accept their "new" practice of limiting the amount of product that a medical patient can purchase. Here is where my issue begins, almost all medical patients receive a monthly state approved allotment of 5oz and they pay the state a annual renewal card fee but me on the other hand I pay double the amount for 10oz monthly. Shouldn't I be allowed to purchase double the limit that applies to the medical patients that are allotted 5oz and pay half as much annually for their medical cannabis card? Does it seem fair for Medmen to have me on the same limit or am I being unreasonable? read more

Medmen Evanston is amazing. They are extremely organized and very efficient Since everything has been so crazy and strict with COVID , Medmen states open and changed to ordering online and then giving us a pickup window. This has been such a great and refreshing change. There are no longer long lines to wait in. You are literally in and out in under 20 minutes. That's with parking the car as well. Shopping online for sale day pickup is easy and much more relaxing and laid back. I love this way and I certainly hope that when we go back to some normalcy, you will keep this model. They give you a 45 minute window to show up -- never consistent post order when that 45 minute window will be so you have to block off hours of your day to be ready. I got there in the 45 minute window and continue to ask the purpose of the window and they say to limit foot traffic. For starters they guard this place like it was Fort Knox and they interrogate you just to get in there. You really better be ready to lose your dignity to shop at this overpriced, unfriendly, place if you want to do business with them.
