We both had salads..I ordered the normal salad with ginger vinaigrette and my husband had the Caesar. Both excellent! Our waitress, Ali, was great. I wanted to write something nice. Ok, the only good part of my meal was the Cranberry Sangria. I get it... it is low staffed and probably not gourmet chefs cooking but our meals were awful. It took an hour for a brisket eggs Benedict and egg skillet. The potatoes were black and even the server was embarrassed to serve them but did. They remade my American fries but not my husband's skillet which was also black. It was weird. When they remade them, they went from burning my potatoes to serving me raw potatoes. Gross. I chose not to eat my meal. The poached eggs were hard and I dont think they could of made the meal any worse. It was gross. We didn't ask (times are tough, we understand) but they comped our meals. We didn't really eat the meals and left to go eat at the Rock. Lots of waiting for a gross meal in look and taste. I do have advice for owner. If you are going to have a limited staff, consider a limited menu. The cooks are cooking basic food terribly. Our meals should of not left the kitchen in the condition they came to us. Late lunch at Medici today. Food was decent but I remember it being better. I had the shrimp and prosciutto appetizer. A little salty. I ordered the Pork tomatillo which was supposed to be a pork ribeye with tomatillo salsa. It was pork but not the thick cut I was expecting. It was almost like they pounded out a tenderloin and brined it. Tasted pretty good. I think it had the same spice rub the shrimp had. And they put about a teaspoon of salsa on it. Really liked this place! My husband and I came here for dinner and drinks. The service was great, food was delicious, and they have a good drink selection. I ordered the seafood linguine, my husband had the short ribs, and we also had the pretzel and dip appetizer. It was all really good. The menu was limited but everything looked and sounded great. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside. They have an upstairs area which includes an outside patio/roof top area. The only thing I didn't like was the lighting was kind f dim. If I could give it zero stars I would. Just finished my 11am reservation and the service there was the worst I have ever experienced. The server at this establishment literally threw the the check at me. Also I was ignored the entire time while the server was talking to one of his work buddies right next to me. Show my review of Miti is a little mixed. I've been there three or four times now and a few times the food has been exceptional, a few times the food has been OK, with the exception of the orange crème brûlée which is always amazing, and the service is sometimes exceptional and sometimes just OK. I'm not sure what determines whether the food or the service is going to be exceptional or OK, I'm still working on that one. The last time I was there I had the short ribs which were absolutely amazing! So tender and delicious! I did end up taking a little bit of it home there was quite a lot, and finishing at the next day for breakfast lol and again the range crème brûlée is always wonderful. However, the evening that I had the short ribs and the orange crème brûlée, the service was really nothing short of awful. I know it was late when we arrived but they were still several full tables of folks who had also just arrived so I knew there was time for dinner and I've made a point to ask if we were too late or not. They assured us that we were not too late for dinner and to please have a seat. The person who set us and the person who took our order was someone different and the person who brought our food was a third person and we never saw our initial waitress or the one that brought us our food, again. No one stopped to see if we needed more water or wanted something to drink and when I had been sitting for a while and dessert had not come, I had to walk up to the kitchen and ask someone to help me. it then arrived with no spoons and I finally just walked up to the service area and got my own spoon. Now at that point there was still a very very large table of people having dinner so I knew that getting a spoon should not have been that big a problem. My first trip to Medici was in February when I came here to purchase a house for our move. We were taken there by our real estate agent, and again the food was good, not to die for, and the orange crème brûlée was fantastic, it was a very busy night and our service was still good, not great, but good. I think for the prices, and the reputation it seems like they're trying to achieve, but they could do a better job with service and training. I've worked in many restaurants and I have worked customer service for more than half my life, and some people are great at it and some people are not. Those who are not can sometimes be trying to be great at it, but if you get someone who just doesn't care, no matter what you do, customer service is just not gonna be for them and they shouldn't be waiting tables. And when you have to walk up and get your own dessert and your own spoon, and there were very few people in the restaurant, someone should notice... no one did. Or at least no one said anything, like sorry, or here let me get that, or anything for that matter... and then finally I went up and got my own to go box to take my leftovers home in. i'll go back a few more times, try a few more things, and give it another chance, if for no other reason than it's one of a handful of restaurants in the area at that caliber. But if I have to get my own dessert and spoon again, that may be my last visit. read more

I loved my dinner at Medici's! Been scared by its price for a long time, I finally visited it last weekend on my birthday. I love the patio seating near the street side, so romantic with excellent moon views! The food was also impressive. We had the mango glazed tuna burger and the jambalaya. Both are delicious with a huge portion! The pickle fries and guac mac &cheese. They have a good drinking menu. Some of the names very playful-I had a "safe sex with chuck" lol. It's a great option for a night out or an occasion, given the overall pricey food. Came here for lunch while dropping off my sister at ISU after winter break. The places looks pretty decent and has a bar with smaller tvs. They had a bloodymarys bar set up in the corner too. My sister and her roommate got their 2eggs and bacon, can't mess that up. I didn't want anything big so I ordered their Mac and cheese appetizer. The menu said it was made with smoked Gouda but honestly it was probably the least flavorful Mac I've had...boxed Mac probably has more flavor. And the balsamic drizzle on it was kind of odd. I don't know how this place isn't rated higher. My friends and I came here once and liked it so much we came back. First night was for dinner. We all loved our drinks, entrees, and dessert. The mule and mai tai were particular favorites. My scallops were to die for and everything about that dish was perfect. The stroganoff was stroganoff but it was good. The creme brûlée was the fave of the desserts. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were both good, just nothing out of the ordinary. We came back for brunch and mimosas were good. I got the seafood lasagna and it was so good and my leftover reheated really well. The vodka sauce was great and the seafood was plentiful. My friends French toast was very good, tho our waitress recommended having it brought out immediately because she said it's the best if it's fresh. Other foods were breakfast pizza, breakfast skillet, and chicken chilaquiles and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Staff was always great. Came here on Valentine's day and enjoyed a yummy dinner. We ordered the truffle fries (not on the menu) and Korean lettuce wraps for appetizers. We had the individual 4 cheese pizza and ribeye for dinner. The pizza was good and a good portion for 1 person. The ribeye was delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked. We had the cookie dessert (forgot what its called) - it's a fresh baked cookie in a castiron skillet topped with ice ceam. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. This is probably my favorite restaurant in the Blo/No area. We've been here a few times and everytime the experience is wonderful. This time I had the Salmon Brulee and it was AMAZING. I eat a ton of salmon and this was probably the best salmon dish I've ever had. It paired perfectly with the parmesan risotto. My partner had the steak tacos and to quote him "they were so good, I completely forgot to offer you a bite". He has not stopped talking about them. The service was fabulous, our waiter did a great job of being caring even though we were outside. TERRIBLE! I can't believe we went here when we were thinking of going somehwere else instead; but decided to give this another chance after the last time we went here for breakfast the chef could not poach an egg to save his life. The first egg had hard yolks and the second egg was still as if it had just been cracked. Anyway this second try was a HUGE mistake. This was wrong from the start after going upstairs and realizing that this was unbelievably loud. I mean seriously, to the point where I could not hear my husband across the table from me over the volume of noise in there. It's not like we're old we don't need a quiet place and knew that this place would have Saturday night life but this was ridiculous. Then came the wine glass, which finally got to the table chipped. I had to wait to try to get the server's attention, which was difficult over the aforementioned roar, to finally get my wine Iglass to the table. We ordered the lettuce wraps and while the feeling was actually pretty good you should have seen the lettuce that came with it. I include a photo since I don't think you would believe me. It came with 3 pieces of lettuce that were rotted and mealy. Unbelievable! do you know how long lettuce has to sit for it to get this way? I cannot believe the chef, if that's what you want to call him, had the audacity to plate this. At this point you can imagine that I did not hold much hope for my Medici wedge, which was of course also using their lettuce. When it arrived thankfully it was not too gross, but it did have pink parts on the edges; which again would have to mean that this sat somewhere for awhile. My husband's ribeye. was actually wonderful had very good flavor but by then all I wanted to do was get out of there. I would have loved to express these comments to the manager in the hopes that this place would improve given their wonderful location and great beer menu, but of course a manager was nowhere to be found. Our party of 4 ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich, the Brisket Sandwich, the Medici Burger, and Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos. All were great! The sweet potato tots were delicious! The truffle fries were also good. We all split the jalapeno popper appetizer and it was a little pricey at $7 for 4 total (we all got one) but the sauce and flavor was great! The main entrees seemed a little overpriced, but all the sandwich and pizza options looked very reasonably priced if you are looking to spend a little less. Great atmosphere.
