This was a total blessing after I had spent the larger part of a month trying to get an appointment in at other local body shops. While waiting briefly in the office, the mechanic, the assistant and I had a great conversation and before I knew it -- my car was fixed *perfectly* and I was out of there with time to spare before arriving to work. Assembly and putting bolts and pins back in, optional. And spraying paint, you're better off having a two year old spray with a rattle can. My new go to mechanic!…read more I had been going to Ventrice Auto for years but unfortunately the owner Rocky passed away and the service hasn't been the same since so I decided to give my local Mr Tire a try. I was not pleased with them either as they recommended work that wasn't needed and their prices where high for the work provided and not to mention, items were stolen out of my car while it was there so I desperately needed a new mechanic! My wife was referred to Kalven by a good family friend. Her car needed a state inspection and some brake work done. We made an appointment and dropped her car off. Kalven promised that her car would be done later that same day as she would need it for work the following day and it was! He showed us the condition of the old rotors and pads compared to the new ones. I was so impressed with his work that I decided to let him work on my car as well. I needed brakes as well and was told by Mr Tire that I needed a new wheel hub as I had a strong vibration when I would brake heavily. Kalven let me know that it was my brake caliper as it was rubbing against my rotor. He said he would try to fix it instead of just putting on a whole new caliper to try to save me some money. When's the last time a mechanic tried to save you some money? He was able to repair it without having to change out the brake caliper! I also had Kalven do some suspension work on my car as well. It now drives even better than the day I bought it! Kalven is a very smart man as he has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He has even given me a discount on work he has done multiple times! He is a honest and ethical mechanic and does not try to up sell you on work that you don't need! It was nice talking to him about his family and life while he finished up my paperwork. If your are in need of a good and honest mechanic I highly recommend him! Kalven and the guys at Pitt Stop will be the only ones working on my and my wife's cars from now on!
