Shoyu Paitan chicken ramen
Francisca W.

Ima start by saying that, as an Asian, I'm glad that Asian cuisines have finally made it to mainstream food scene and are no longer seen as some cheap eats that one can only get from a back alley in the seedy part of town. What I appreciate is that Mecha offers various Asian culinary profiles from Japan (ramen) and Korea (gojujang pork belly bun) to Vietname (pho), Malaysia, and Singapore (Laksa). The place has a happening vibe - bright colors, clean design, upbeat music. Onto food - I can imagine the Tomahawk pho would be epic for Insta, but I would personally prefer the humble version of pho with solid broth and herbs. So of course we didn't order that, esp at that price point. We got a couple apps, two ramens, and a Laska; can't say that I was wowed in any sense. The pork belly bun came in one piece at $8, a bit overpriced, honestly. Ramen was ok, just nothing to write home about. Laska was kinda weird in the sense that the mushrooms were literally thrown in there el fresco, not even a quick blanch. To the point, I have not had raw mushroom in Laksa in Asia, the few places that I've been. Even other fixings in that Laksa seem like they just got thrown in there; there was no "marriage" in there. Ramens were ok in terms of noodle quality and broth, but part of the grievance is that there wasn't a meat/broth combo that jumped at me. The broth I like only came with chicken, and the pork chasiu only came with spicy broth. Out of all things, though, the pre-marinated chicken meat was the highlight - flavorful, tender, and not-dry. Price point is on par with what's in the area, and I appreciate that they had a liquor license so things can get interesting later at night. Mecha seems positions itself more as a "fun place to hang" with some Asian options for food. While the meal itself was not bad, I would have to admit that, as a former "FOB" (aka immigrant), I am not their target customer (and that's ok!). Personally, I would be unlikely to return "just to eat", because I know where to go for food with less fluff and more substance.

Mecha has great vibes. Best spot for a hot ramen, it was so good that I forgot to take a picture! The mushroom and red chilli oil dumplings were delicious. The staff is always friendly!

It's rare to find a spot that serves pho and ramen. This spot was a crowd pleaser. We both ate pho. I ordered the pho ga with extra greens ($3) and tofu ($2). I only received one small bok choi for my extra greens, so I took away a star. For that price I'd expect at least 2-3 bok choi. When I didn't make it to the end of my dish, the waiter thoughtfully packed it up for me separating the broth from the rice noodles.

I decided to stop here recently and had a very good experience. The staff are very friendly and guided me on what was the best things to order here.. I first ordered the Sweet & Sour Spareribs and absolutely loved it. Then ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen, which ended up being very tasty and spicy, and loved every bite of it. I look forward to coming here again.

Mecha at Legacy Place is fantastic. The location is great, the food is consistently delicious, and the service truly stands out. Manager Baron runs a wonderful operation--professional, warm, and attentive. Our server Nini was absolutely the best. My son has a disability, and she was incredibly kind and observant--helping us hang our jackets, checking in thoughtfully, and making us feel genuinely cared for. That level of attentiveness means so much to our family. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the Pho King, egg rolls, kale salad, Vietnamese coffee, and don't skip dessert--the ube dessert is a must. A place that delivers great food and true hospitality. We'll definitely be back.

Delayed review from March. The place has an interesting vibe and we did not need to wait long for a table. We had the Spicy Beef Ramen, Kimchi fried rice and a KFC bao. We were very happy to see Kimchi fried rice on the menu, and ended up bringing some of it home. It tasted just as good the next day.

Checking in.

Everything went smoothly. The food was excellent. The music was at just the right volume with a great vibe. Service was attentive without being intrusive. I never felt the need to flag anyone down. The staff checked in several times to make sure everything was going well. The rest rooms are "single serve" as I call it (single occupancy). Clean. Felt sophisticated. Despite it being cold outside. In-store was comfortably warm regarding temperature.

Skip this place. Deceptive BEFORE THEY EVEN OPENED! Told people to secure tickets online for their grand opening to ensure they'd be one of the first 100 customers and get a gift card. But it turns out the tickets mean nothing so people who would have otherwise showed up sooner won't get anything. Really poor way to make a first impression with customers, but hey, at least it's clear from the get-go that they don't care about their potential customers, just drumming up business.

Ochi Sushi & Ramen - Mango ice cream mochi - delicious!

Ochi Sushi & Ramen

Ochi is an excellent example of a high quality, local Japanese restaurant and bar. It's not…read morecomparable to authentic Tokyo, NY, LA, or Boston, so it doesn't warrant 5 stars globally, but it does deserve 5-stars for a dependable, flavorful suburban Japanese eatery. The food quality is above average, the execution is high, and the service is attentive. The space is clean and efficient, but lacks warmth. We visited the day after a large 1-2 foot snowstorm, and Ochi was one of the only restaurants open in town. I've eaten at Ochi 4x since it opened in 2023, although there's a lot more to explore on its expansive and prolific menu. On this visit, we tried a Tuna Poke Bowl, a Salmon Pome Bowl, a Katsu Ramen, a Mango Salad, and a Mochi desert. Regarding the Tuna Poke Bowl, Ochi took the liberty of substituting more expensive fatty tuna (Toro), for regular tuna (Maguro), a generous and appreciated gift as a thanks for dining on a very slow night due to the storm. Hence, I would recommend everything we tried: the Mango Salad, any of the Sushi, Sashimi and Maki choices, the Poke bowls and Ramen (especially the Spicy Miso Ramen, the chicken Katsu Ramen, and any of the traditional pork or beef Ramen choices). In addition, the deserts are especially worth trying, and are all well orchestrated. You can't really go wrong at Ochi.

Location is great, there were able 2 employees working the front. Not really sociable with us but very chatty with each other. Pricing is a bit on the higher end for the quality for sure, out of 7 dishes between a group of 4 and 2 were for sure pre-made items only 2 dishes were ok. As for the food itself, I can say it's more on a "cleaner" side vs the extra flavor and oily texture you'd get from a fast food chain. The ramen broth was subtle, the noodle perfect, but the flavor wasn't there. The Chef special roll was way over priced for what you get, especially only having 1 piece being the best out of the "assorted" fish. The hibachi wasn't good in my opinion, good portion though. Would not order that again. The chicken teriyaki flavor was great, chicken texture was more like grilled on a pan vs over flame. Loved the veggies though. The gyoza and takoyaki were good as well as the strawberry mochi icecream. Wish they were more friendly though, making us feel like we were inconvenient for them was a major turn off.

We came here last night for a holiday work dinner, with a reservation for 12 people. The set up of…read morethe grills made the seating awkward as we filled the chairs around the grill (8) but then had 4 people in a row taking over a little of the other one (even though it was not in use). We started by ordering drinks and 3 rolls of sushi. I didn't get their names since we just told them to bring out their best ones, which I think they interpreted as best sellers. All were very delicious, and the presentation was lovely. We all chose to do the hibachi; with some combination of filet mignon, chicken, steak, shrimp, or scallops. They started with making the rice, followed by the noodles (optional but $4 more per person), then the meat, and later the vegetables. They got everyone's order correctly and did a fantastic job of rationing the portions so that everyone got about the same. They also performed all the tricks including the eggs toss, the onion volcano /train, and tossing food / liquids into people's mouths. I found that because they make everything separate, my rice and noodles were cold by the time my meat and veggies were ready. It's a blessing and curse that you can see them cook in front of you. Blessing because you know how your food is being handled and can see the freshness of it, but a curse because you realize all your food is being cooked with the same "seasonings"/sauces. I personally thought it was a bit bland, but everything tasted fresh. The yum yum sauce was initially sweet, but after that, I couldn't pin point the flavor. Overall, it was a good time. Food quality I would say 3 stars, but ambiance and service is 4.5 stars. I think it's a good setting for corporate events. We didn't get any, but upon request it seems like they were blowing up little reindeer antler head bands. When we paid, they also gave us a gift card to use at a future visit which was nice.

This rude staff member told my niece she had a party of 10 at the bar who was waiting for this table so we should go, and then proceeded to hand everyone a takeout box! No one was offered another drink or allowed to finish eating. She stacked new plates onto our area so she could set the table! Our bill with tip was $850 plus we tipped both chefs $50 each!!! I am disgusted! They knew it was a special birthday and she was plain nasty!!!
