Mike came on time for the estimate and we arranged a date for Meca to do the work. They came on time with plenty of men well prepared to get things done safely and quickly. They trimmed 3 old crabapples in our front yard, and removed 5 dead/dying arborvitae trees in our back yard and replaced them with new arborvitaes (that we supplied). They spaced them out further and replaced the surrounding soil to give them better growing conditions. I recently bought a home and wanted to replace the old chain link fence that predates my neighbors with a nicer wood fence. They were thrilled about the plan but we needed two trees on the fence line in their yard to come down so I could finish the fence on that side. One of these was a Boysenberry tree. It's just a mess once the fruit starts to fall - staining the concrete, attracting flies and rodents. One of my dogs was also dodging me to devour the fallen berries like they're candy and that (of course) gave her indigestion. Other companies said I should get a fence guy to take the fence down for them first so they could grind the tree down. Meca got it done without my needing to do all of that. The quote was admittedly pricey (67% higher than the lowest quote in fact and a third higher than the others), but it was still a 5 star experience for these reasons: 1. Unlike everyone else, they called beforehand to confirm a time to look at the job and offer a quote. Others came unannounced (and then complained that I was not home), said they were too busy or were just flat out unresponsive. 2. Similarly, dispatch called day-of to let me know when the crew was on its way. 3. The work was completed FAST. They came 2 days later with 8 guys (hence the cost, I'm sure). It took *maybe* 2 hours to cut two trees down. No need to bother with ComEd about the power lines, which they navigated safely. 4. Much better than other companies at problem solving and working around things (fence, passage dimensions, power lines) to get the job done. 5. The clean-up was excellent. Really well done. Wow, Meca did a phenomenal job trimming an old Chinese elm in our backyard that was impinging on the house and some power lines. In the estimate phase, he listened to what I wanted (including keeping the backyard shaded) and then used a laser pointer to show me exactly which limbs they'd take down. Today, he reviewed everything with me before the job began. I can't say enough about the crew, who scrambled expertly among the branches and seemed to have a good time doing it. My son had this tree service take down a mulberry tree that was on the property line between his residence and his neighbor's. The arborists were experts in their trade, taking extra care to make sure the enormous tree did not damage nor harm any of the two residences by erecting protective plywood against my son's residence and his neighbors home (see pictures). It was incredible and entertaining to watch these guys work as they dismantled the tree, limb by limb and sectioned the trunk perfectly to prevent damage to the two properties. After the tree was removed in its entirety, they ground the stump away, then they cleaned up after themselves, both my son's property and the neighbor's (see pictures). During the process of removing the tree, the neighbor's phone line was removed from his home to prevent damage, the workers then reattached the line to the house and secured it. They brought a crew of nine (9) people to work on our trees and they were surgical and meticulous in their cuts. In other words they didn't just hack at the trees they took their time and made sure that they were making the right cuts. Serious tree damage from recent July 15 Chicagoland storms. Same day in person estimate. Fair price and tree removed 2 days later. They removed a 65+ foot silver maple that was extremely close to the house in just 4 hours including stump grinding and clean up. They were very careful of my and my close neighbors property, nothing was damaged in the removal of this monster tree. Great experience overall very professional and punctual. They kept me updated on arrival times and walked me through the whole process. I was dreading going through this but Meca made this very easy for me to arrange. Communication on timing for the job was pretty messy but they did show up the day they said, but outside of the time they quoted. I've had trees cut down before but not since moving into the city. Spring 2023: We've hired Meca before and we were very happy with the work they did. We had them come out for an estimate on trimming up a large tree. Meca is always on time for appointments and extremely knowledgeable about trees. We were informed that we would need to wait until fall to trim the tree because otherwise we would risk killing or causing harm/disease to the tree (I believe that's what he said). Update Nov 2023: Now in the fall. Meca's crew is amazing and he runs a smooth team. Living in the city with buildings so close to each other the only option is from the men to climb the trees. It is so exciting and amazing to watch them. We live on a single lane one way street. They collected the branches at the end of the driveway and once they were done trimming they temporarily blocked the street at the top as they had to move their wood chipper truck down which blocked the street. They were very speedy to get all the branches in and unblock the street. For our side of the tree there were about 6-7 guys and the trimming itself took about 30 minutes and tree chipper/cleaning another 20min. Our neighbor also trimmed their side of the tree and an even taller tree and there were about 8-9 guys on that day. Again, very smooth and time efficient project/process. They clean everything up very well too. I highly recommend Meca and his crew. Also, he said it should be about 5yrs before it needs another trimming to keep the tree off of the building.
