We live in the west suburbs of chicago and have a heavily wooded lot. We have relied on Dawson's multiple times to remove large trees over the years. Most recently they removed an 80'+ tall "V" shaped tree that was damaged during a rain storm. Part of the tree fell and the other part that was still over 80' tall was compromised and had to be taken down immediately. I called Dawson's first thing on the morning of the 4th of July. Despite it being a holiday, they immediately responded and sent their arborist out to evaluate and mobilize the correct course of action. Within days they remedied the situation and removed all parts of tree. This particular tree was in a very tricky spot of of yard wedged very close to a neighbors house and part having over this house. Amazing work they did. As the owner of a small business, I can appreciate the highest level of customer service. This was exactly that. I will always use this company in the future and give them my highest recommendation. They responded lightning fast and the tree removal team was respectful and courtesy will the entire process.HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Steve Sims team were amazing. I had very large tree hanging over my home. Planted maybe 50 years ago it had grown into the upstairs balcony and over the roof. It started to lean last year and my homeowner's insurance said get it removed. The team of 4 Dawson tree engineers safely took the tree a part. It was great to watch. read more

Quick and easy (for me at least). I had multiple tree limbs crossing the power lines that run to my house. I got my estimate AND the trimming done within 2 weeks of reaching out (though it seems I was lucky that they were already in the area for other services). The job itself looks great and they left no mess. read more

Dawson's for the win!! Took both of these trees down a week after the proposal. Family owned, they were the most economical & included stump grounding. Here at 1 pm, gone at 2. Highly recommend!! read more

We had trees and shrubs trimmed this morning and everything went very well. Steve was with his crew to supervise. He was knowledgeable about the health of the trees and when was the correct time to trim them. All the trees are nicely shaped and looking healthy. The clean up was complete. We have used Dawson Trees service for years and would recommend them to others. read more

Requested a quote through their website. Steve was out the next day with a quote. I was very happy with it, but wanted to do my due diligence by getting some other quotes. I called 2 others, who said they'd stop by and look at it. I never heard back from them. I called Steve back and gave him the go-ahead. Less than a week later, my diseased dead tree was gone and the stump was all ground up. The guys arrived promptly. They were very friendly and organized. It was a relatively small tree and they were able to make fast work of it...About 35 minutes from start to finish. They did a great job of cleaning up and blowing away debris. Now I won't have to get poked and duck while mowing the yard. :-) I would definitely recommend them in a heart beat! read more

Called for someone to come out and give me an estimate. It has been over a month and no one has come out even though the lady who took phone call said within a week. And I even told her I had used them about 4 years ago. read more

This company is terrific and always use them. Fair prices, trees look great and they respect and clean up your property. We wouldn't use anyone else. read more

Stellar! We just moved into this house, and received a handful of tree contractors to estimate what needed to be done, and Dawsons was the only one that not only took the time to explain why they knew what trees were in bad shape (showed us pictures of what they should look like, etc.), but also whose conclusions ended up matching what we felt was most sensible to do for each tree (removing the irreparable ones, trimming down the challenged ones to give them a chance and reassess next year). That was 2 trees to remove and a handful others to work on. I didn't know how long it'd take, but I assumed it would be pretty involved. They showed up at 7.30am, a crew of about 4, and got it all done basically that morning. Wow! They cleaned up the place real well too. All that was left was like 3 sticks on the roof, and some small sticks here and there in the grass. Everything else was removed and taken care of. read more

I had a huge maple that needed pruning and several stumps that needed grinding. Crew was early, and did a great job pruning and cleaning up. read more

These guys are very reliable and good. I've used their service several times over the past few years. I only use this company for my tree and shrub work. They have reasonable prices. They get the job done within a timely period and they work quickly when they are here. I docked one star because this summer we ran into the problem of calling them several times and having no one answer and no answering machine to leave a message. We eventually got through but I don't understand why at the very least I did not reach an answering machine. read more

I have used Dawson Tree for annual trimming of BIG trees for about 5 years and any storm damage removal. But it was time for one of BIG trees to be taken down for safety's sake it has been dropping limbs during wind storms the past two years. I am soooo impressed with Dawson, always prompt, and professional. My tree base circumference was 93" and I estimate about 55' or more tall. It sits on my backyard which is on a 45 degree decline and is totally fenced in. However, nothing deters Steve and John and the crew. Veronica is great on scheduling and prompt and courteous replies. They are all amazing! Had to use a crane and a crew of 5 total and temporarily remove a piece of my wrought iron fence. Took 3 1/2 hours and some of the maneuvers were a sight to behold... neighbors came out and watched as they flew through the sky on a crane wire and then large portions of the tree also flew thru the sky to the trucks at the street. Very happy with their services. Very professional! Cleaned up nicely and very careful not to damage the grass with the heavy equipment. read more

We needed 2 medium sized bushes removed from our backyard and had the added worry of a gas line near the dig site. Dawson's took care of everything. Prompt, fair estimate, contacted JULIE to mark utilities and were out within a week to do the work. They did a great job, were efficient and cleaned up their mess. Something even better was that they accept Apple Pay for payments so you can pay online, right away. Great company, great work, highly recommended. read more

Dawsons Tree Service - Tree Services Near Me

Have used Dawsons for several years and as usual the work was excellent. After a tornado set down near our home we lost a tree in our back yard. John was out the same day I called and his crew arrived the next day to remove the tree and stump. My yard was cleaned up and other then the area where the stump was you could not tell if a tree had been there. read more

Reached out and took forever to get someone out to get a quote. In the time it took Dawsons to come out I'd already had two other companies come out within 24 hours of reaching out for a quote and offer dates to complete the project. Before I said yes to one of the other companies I waited to get someone out from Dawsons (bc of other positive reviews) and once I got someone it then took at least a week to get the quote (even though upon walking the property I was told I'd get a quote within the next two days). Once I got the quote the price was DOUBLE (yes, double) what I was quoted from another company for the exact same work. I'd say, do your research and get multiple quotes before booking with them. read more

We had a large BlueSpruce removed today. These folks were amazing besides our neighbors watching the removal the workers were friendly and very hard working. They gave me a very fair price. They cleaned up as if no one had even been there. Great job and Great folks to deal with. I would highly recommend. read more

When I reached out to Dawsons's to quote out a small job, they did exactly as they said they would. They came out in a timely fashion, quoted the job and left the estimate in my mailbox so that I didn't have to be home. This gave me the freedom to call them back at my convenience without being pushy. I received two other estimates (one from a supposed tree service out of Addison that I also found on Yelp- the other from my landscaper who didn't carry the right coverages for insurance in order to help). Yes, they were both significantly less expensive. However, climbing trees requires the right coverages on the business side of things. My landscaper didn't have it, and the other company didn't bother to return my phone call in a timely fashion AND cancelled my original appointment the night before and again didn't follow up to reschedule. That's certainly not how you do business in this competitive day and age. If they did get back to me as they should have, maybe I could have verified all was good and they would have likely "stole" the business from Dawson's. I realize now that would have been a mistake. Dawson's did GREAT work, came out when they said they would, returned two phone calls promptly, and gave me the confidence to refer my business clients to them as well with how they treated me. I was also appreciative that John (owner) took my call and tried to help me with pricing to be slightly more competitive to eventually earn the business. Keep up the great work Dawson's! read more

Can't recommend Dawson's enough! We had two trees cut down and stumps removed - a Maple and a Magnolia. They were prompt, quick, cleaned up very nicely, and have great pricing. We're sad to see our trees go, but were so happy with their service! read more

Quick and easy to work with Dawsons Tree Service. Also very affordable. It was easy to pay my bill online.

We had 6 trees removed behind our house ( no easy access) Dawson's came and did an excellent and professional job, for a great price! These guys are awesome! Would definitely use them again. read more

I had an overgrown maple tree in my front yard. Its shallow roots and heavy shade combined to kill a large portion on the lawn. Called Dawson's to get an opinion on options. Steve came over a few days later to assess. He said that pruning by itself would not help to regrow the grass. I asked about root pruning, and he said it would only be a temporary solution. So I decided to take the tree down. The crew came over a few days later to do the job. They worked very efficiently and professionally, and removed and tree and cleaned up in about an hour. Pricing was very reasonable and lower than a couple other quotes I got. Would definitely recommend Dawson's. read more

Dawson Tree Service is great. They responded quickly and came out to do the work quite soon after. And they do excellent work!

During the summer scheduled trimming of a Oak tree for the fall. We were out of town when they came. Just got home the tree looks great

Did a wonderful job trimming 6 trees and removing several stumps and they're insured. Will be using them again.

They took down a large River Birch, a smaller evergreen, and trimmed ginko and maple branches overlapping the powerline. And the aerial circus was something to see! An arboreal Cirque du Soleil in our backyard! The cleanup was superb! And there was no damage to any nearby vegetation. Highly recommend! read more

Due to the tornado that came through the area I needed three trees cut down. I called Dawson's and they came out and gave me a quote. I was very happy with the quote and it was extremely competitive with other quotes that I got. We agreed on a date and they came on the agreed date. The employees that they have did an outstanding job. They cut all the trees down and got rid of the stumps and cleaned everything up. I am extremely happy with the job they did and highly recommend them. read more

We had a great experience with Dawsons Tree Service. They were quick to come out for an estimate, and offered a reasonable price for maintenance on three trees in our back yard and two in the front. They also hung a children's tree swing for us. The crew arrived on time and were very polite and respectively throughout the job. They did a great job on the trees and the swing, and left the property cleaned of all debris. All in all, we were very impressed by how smoothly everything went through the whole process and by the quality of the work. We would definitely use Dawsons again for tree service. read more

These people have no compassion and apparently no insurance. They were happy to take cash payments and all these referrals from us, but didn't lock or close our gate and our dog almost died because of it! We were very considerate to them and kind considering the circumstances and all they wanted to do was blame anyone but their business. Typical. Now we have thousands of dollars in recovery for our pet and fines and everything because of their lack of attention not finishing their job. Never again with this "business". If you have kids and or pets beware and double check their work because they don't do that part of their job themselves. Such a shame. Luckily we were not gone or we would probably not have our pup today god forbid! Happy my dog is alive and in recovery, disappointed that this happened and they did not want to help us in any way whatsoever. read more

We have a large River Birch that overlooks our garage roof and driveway. It had some broken limbs and lots of small, messy branches. The Dawson's Tree Service crew of four literally sculpted the tree. One member constantly was raking up the debris, the others were either trimming the tree or grinding up the branches. The process was quick and efficient. When they left there the site was totally clean. We are very pleased with the results. read more
