What a rip off. I had them estimate a 30 ft dead ash tree in my backyard to be removed. Quoted me $2385.00. Then had another service give me an estimate the next day. $975 with the stump removed!! Maybe they thought they could rip me off because I have a power boat in the driveway-thinking I have money to waste. Ha jokes on you fools. Only reason I gave them two stars is because the CSR girl was polite. read more

Great customer service, I had requested a quote through Yelp and Dawson was the first to respond and had me a quote the next day! The follow up and communication was excellent and very understanding of my needs. The quote was very reasonable so we decided to go with them. I was a little hesitant not being home when the work was done but apparently our to trust them since they provided great customer service was spot on for a change. They did such a great job you couldn't see any evidence they did all our work other than all the trees where perfect! Not one stick or piece of back on the ground anywhere! The yard was spotless! Dawson's Tree Service was great! Dawson's showed up when they said they would and impressed me with a printed quote on the spot for the work I wanted done. They agreed that if I hired them, they would inspect some damage to the tree and take one of two approaches to trim and remedy the situation. They even quoted me two different prices so I knew the cost depending on the outcome of the inspection. I quickly got on Dawson's schedule for tree trimming and they came on time and completed the inspection and trimming without fuss. Dawson's offered a very fair price, especially for the tricky job of a tall tree that had some damage and overhung my house. Tree trimming - not really what a want to spend my money on but with 4 large silver maples close to our house and neighbors, it was time. $1400 to trim the 4 of them. I had several quotes from good companies and the price was similar/better than the others. As others have mentioned, the team showed up on time, worked hard, were gentle on my lawn, cleaned up meticulously, and even managed my neighbor's kid who came out to play foreman and direct "the guys" on what to do with the downed limbs. I've had a lot of work done on my house it is a such a blessing when skilled, professional people show up to do the work. I highly recommend this company. read more

They came and quoted last Friday. Seemed very reasonable at $160 to remove dead branch and have general pruning on large spruce in our front yard. Wow. The Dawson's crew was working on a neighbor's yard. We needed some work done (that had been ignored by previous hire) that was too minimal for it's own call.... so I talked to the crew and Steve (the owner?) made a special trip to our house to give us a quote on site that morning. The work was done within two hours. The crew was very friendly and professional. They were conscientious and did a great clean up job. I am so incredibly impressed with this company. Their price was less than another well known tree-trimmer, and their work was outstanding. My neighbors box elder trees were hanging over my backyard and garage, and I was nervous about the closeness to my house, garage and neighbors home. The owner did the highest tree trimming and when a branch nicked my screen window he removed it, apologized, and said he'd be back with it repaired. He was honest, polite, grateful for the work and respectful that I had a conference work call that I couldn't miss. All the debris was removed, patio furniture returned, and branches and leaves that landed on my roof were blown away. I cannot believe in this day and age such good old fashioned politeness and friendliness still exists. This is one amazing company! Used Dawsons to take down two huge oak trees. Didn't want to remove them but they were damaging my foundation. They quickly came out and provided an extremely competitive quote, remove the trees quickly, they had damaged my gutter by accident and 15 minutes after they left they had a gutter company at my house to fix it. These guys don't mess around. After getting a very reasonable quote I accepted their proposal and they said they would be by in the next 4-6 weeks. We didn't even need to be home for them to do the work, which is ideal since my husband and I both work and we just moved and have taken LOTS of time off to be home with all the other service people and technicians. What a great company! We received 3 quotes to have our 60 year old Sycamore tree removed from our corner lot. Not only was their quote very competitive, but it came in about $1000 less than we were planning to spend, and $1500 less than similar tree removal companies. John Dawson was great to work with. The process was very simple and professional from beginning to end. They started to work Saturday at 8 AM, and had the whole tree down and the stump ground by 10:30 AM. The crew was fantastic. We spoke with the crew leader, "Fonz", and had no issues with any of the 4 workers who were on our property. They had to remove a portion of our chain link fence in order to access the area, and when the re-installed it looked even better than it did before the came. Would "highly" recommend using their services. We have already started telling our friends and family to try them first before calling any other tree removal companies. read more

Dawson Tree Service is about the easiest company I have ever had to work with. After I called the office to request a quote, I had someone out the next day to evaluate an apple tree in our backyard (the tree is beautiful, but I was sick of picking up apples for an hour every week before I could even mow the lawn). Their pricing was great, and I was told they had a three-week backlog (not hard to believe, as good as the work they do is). I got a call within a few days to say they had an opening come available, and I jumped on it. When the crew arrived, they got right to work and started cutting up the tree and removing large branches quickly and efficiently. The whole process took under an hour, as they ground the stump and even raked up all the apples that had fallen (easily over a hundred pounds' worth). Apparently, John usually comes by the location after the job is done to collect payment, but he had gotten delayed. He called me to arrange payment, took my credit card over the phone, and that was that. Easy to deal with, courteous crewmembers, and efficient removal. Couldn't have asked for more! read more

I needed three trees removed from my property due to overcrowding with other trees and hanging branches over my neighbor's property. The day after I called Dawsons Tree Service Steve called me back and arranged to come out to my house. He arrived within the hour. The estimate was very reasonable. Steve called me back about a week later and told me he had an opening in the schedule the next day which was a week earlier than promised! The crew came out and completed the job quickly and professionally which was difficult due to branches over my neighbors property. The job site was left in an immaculate condition. Except for the missing trees I would not have known they were here. I had called Dawsons previously for tree trimming and my experience that time was the same. Great job! Fantastic!!! We had a large silver maple that needed a good haircut. Lots of suckers and dead branches that were very high up. We also had several branches extending over our garage and parked cars and also electric lines to our home. When the gentleman came out he was very professional, friendly, gave advice to the health of this tree and also another tree which we were concerned about. His quote was for $650. We had two quotes of a $1,000 and one $2,000. I wondered how much they would remove for the $650. But the came highly recommended. It was a fantastic job. The tree looks great, took everything and more. They did bring a bucket and removed every branch that was overhanging the electric lines and garage. They worked quickly, efficiently, they asked a question about a few branches and my wife said I would really want those branches taken down, no questions, bam, done. They raked the yard and it looked cleaner than when they arrived. Less than two hours done. This was not a little job as this tree is over 60 feet tall. A friend of mine, who does landscaping, said it looked fantastic as well. Five stars baby. Great job. Highly recommended!!!! read more

John and his team are as good as it gets. We had a very complicated tree removal done in our back yard. Sadly our 150 to 250 year old Elm tree was infected with Dutch Elm Disease. This was no normal Elm tree - based on the 6 quotes we received, everyone said this was probably the biggest Elm tree in all of Du Page County and certainly the largest in Elmhurst (the diameter of the tree was in excess of 70 inches). John was incredibly responsive from the initial phone call to the final removal. He and his team were complete pros and performed the incredibly complicated project with extreme care. While sad to lose the tree, we could not have been more happy with the service that Dawson's provided. I would highly recommend them! read more

What a wonderful experience. I called and told them what we needed. They left a proposal on my door within a day or two. I called with questions, which were cheerfully answered. I signed and mailed the proposal back to them and within 3 days the tree was gone. Our huge tree was down, ground up, yard cleaned up in about 3o minutes! Beautiful, clean equipment and nice crew. We needed to have some arborvitaes removed. This was one of the 3 companies that responded. The quote received was about 1/3 less than the other 2 companies. We were a bit leery about going with this firm because of the large price difference, but the reviews seemed good. The emails and conversations with people at this company were pleasant and productive so we chose them. A few weeks later, I get a phone call, they are ready to come out, and I say great. The next day, the guys come out, take down the trees, do some stump grinding and clean up. A section of fence needed removing to get the stump grinder into the backyard. I expected that I would have to do this, but they removed it for me, then put it back when done. Everyone I spoke to was polite and helpful. Again, the price was great and so were the crew. We would definitely contact this company again for tree work ... but we are out of trees right now. read more
