The other guys will bring you seasoned firewood at best, and that has plenty of bugs and pests that will then be entering your home. Seasoned firewood can also have termites or termite nests in it and should never be located near your home. KILN DRIED firewood has none of that, has no moisture, burns cleaner, hotter, and better, and starts much easier. Seriously it is worth paying a little bit more for quality and to protect the inside and outside of your home and chimney. And then the service----Patrick was amazing to deal with and made the entire delivery process and stacking process simple, fast, easy. I just received by wood yesterday. 1) the driver was easy to deal with and courteous and fast to get all the wood off truck . 2) I paid a little more than other seasoned wood places . Contacted Holy Smoke last week to schedule a Friday morning delivery. Received confirmation a week in advance for delivery by 10 am. Text them today as no driver contact by 9:45. Reply from them indicated we were put on for afternoon delivery between noon and 4pm. Bought from them 4 other times over the past 2 years...but now this feels like dealing with the cable company. They promised clean kiln dried wood- and that's what I got. I requested a call prior to delivery- got it! I asked that they drop it in a particular spot- got it Is their price a little higher than some of the others- yes- but all wood doesn't burn the same. I bought wood from Holy Smoke for the first time a couple of weeks ago, because all my other local suppliers were out. I was hesitant, because I like to pick wood up, rather than get delivery because of cost, and they do not offer pickup. To my surprise, their delivery price was pretty much the same as the pick up price elsewhere. It was delivered on time, and I could buy more than my truck can hold. I will be getting wood from them for the foreseeable future. The quality of wood is very high. I use the wood for an outdoor oven, and moisture content greatly affects performance. I was able to save over an hour of preheat time for my oven, and it burned with less ash than I was used too, eliminating the need to clean out the ash mid cook. read more

I've purchase wood from Holy Smoke for three years now. The wood is excellent. It burns clean and is very dry. But while the wood is great, the stacking service provided is outstanding. I just ordered two face cords. I wasn't home when they arrived, but they stacked the wood tight and sturdy, and even set up a tarp I had laying on the ground on top when they were done. In 2004 I installed a wood burning stove in my house and spent the next three winters trying to find a good, local supplier of quality firewood. Well my luck was so bad that after three tries, I decided to purchase a gas powered log splitter and cut my own firewood from logs I got from a local tree service. Flash forward a decade into the future, I'm ten years older and no longer have the time, ambition, or energy to process the amount of wood I burn every heating season. So once again, I rolled the dice and tried my luck with Holy Smokes Firewood. My first impression was that I hit the jackpot with them. Their firewood was clean, well seasoned, and of high quality heat value species. Oak and Hickory. With all that being said, you must be scratching your head and wondering why I'm giving such a low review. Well, here's why. Two days before the delivery, Patrick, the one and only person I spoke to about my order, called me and asked me if I wanted "restaurant wood" or "fireplace wood". I've never heard those terms used before, so I asked what he meant by that. Apparently, the only difference is that "restaurant wood" is split into smaller sized pieces to burn more evenly in a restaurant's brick oven. Since I heat my house with wood, I chose the larger sized fireplace wood. After the wood was delivered and I stacked it all, I noticed that a significant portion (20%-25%) of the wood fit his description of "restaurant wood". I called him back on August 27, 2018 the next business day after delivery to discuss the possibility that I may have received the wrong. Patrick assured me that I got the correct order, but admitted that I received an unreasonable amount of small pieces. In an attempt to make things right, HE offered to deliver, for FREE, an additional half face cord to make up for the high amount of small pieces. I was very pleased. Well, it's two months later, and I still haven't received that delivery. On October 15, 2018 I called him to remind him of HIS offer. No response. On October 16, I called again. No response. On October 17, I called and politely reminded him of his offer and I told him I would post a negative review on Yelp if I didn't hear back from him by the end of the week. Within three minutes, I got a reply text message saying they would deliver the wood "by the end of next week". Well, that time frame has come and gone, and still no delivery. I just wanted to share this information, and leave the decision to you, if you want to do business with Holy Smokes. If you do, pray that everything goes right on the first try. Their product is excellent, but if there is a problem, my personal experience shows that they will say they will make things right, but don't. I have been waiting for two months now. It's a real shame. If Patrick sticks to his word, I would, WITHOUT HESITATION, place another $700 order with them next year. But right now, with this empty promise, I will have to continue my search for another vendor next season. I give his product 5 stars, but customer service 0 stars. Remember, HE was the one who made the offer. I never asked for it. And if we didn't have the restaurant vs. fireplace wood conversation, I would have never thought of calling him after the delivery. And is HE didn't make the promise to deliver the additional wood as compensation, I definitely wouldn't be writing this negative review. Thank you for taking the time to read this. The wood is dried - so that is a plus. However, a large percentage of the wood does not meet the requirement of being 16" in length to be a 1/3rd cord (or face cord). It seems the average is around 14-15", some pieces are as short as 12". A small amount does reach 16". The stacking work was good. It was neatly and tightly stacked on my rack to 4x8 - no more than that though. They are much more expensive than a number of other providers who deliver "seasoned" but not kiln dried wood. (almost double in cost) Sure, you can add wood to my purchase. The location is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thanks. Based on another reviewers comments, I didn't think they would come back out. I got a call from Patrick who apologized and indicated that a new guy did short cut a few loads of wood and he would more than make up for it -- which they did. read more

Super expensive & when we asked the delivery guy for a receipt he got pissed and went mute also proceeding to leave out gate open so that we had to go close it ourselves. The wood was great in my smoker. Smells amazing and seasoned right (I don't own a moisture meter but it looked and burned good) I sent Holy Smoke an email after business hours asking if I could buy some oak and have it delivered to my house. Next morning I get a call, we talk about what I'm trying to do, seasoned vs green wood, smaller splits or regular size. I wanted seasoned oak and was planning on using it to smoke meat and fish. Immediately, I could tell they care about the quality of their firewood and gave me a few ideas. By noon that day I had a nice stack of firewood and was all set. Delivery person was friendly and pointed out a few of the different types of trees the wood came from before he left. This was my first time using an offset smoker. I read Franklin's BBQ book and was expecting to have an unpleasant time finding quality firewood. He has stories in there about green wood sold as seasoned and a lot of cruddy stacks where the firewood dealer jips you out of a full cord or whatever you ordered. Extremely prompt delivery. Terrific stack. There is however noticeable hissing when burning this wood, and some partially-burnt pieces generally remain. (I'm pleased I bought extra so that it will spend the summer drying more.) I also find the wood to be cut shorter in length compared to another company I've used, meaning in essence less wood per cord.
