A nicely designed burger stop. Not crazy lots of seating but when we came on a Tuesday night there were only a couple other people there. The staff were really great and observant and saw that when more people arrived for our party they moved from behind the counter and moved tables together for us so we could all sit together. We ordered The Queen $16.99 on the black bun $2.99 (extra)and it was very juicy, definitely something you want to eat right away because it was rich in sauce and juice. The black bun was interesting. We also ordered sweet potato fries $5.99 (not cooked crispy enough for my liking, cactus cuts $6.99 (really crispy but tasty), and regular fries $4.99 (perfect crispy level and very lightly if anything tasted like non-salted, which I kind of liked more). I also got to taste The Colonel $10.99 - which I liked this crispy chicken burger quite a bit and this is what I'd come back and order). Friend also tried the butter chicken poutine $9.99 and commented that it wasn't too spicy even though they don't like any spice- so might even be a good kids option if your looking for one. I've heard of Meat The Bun but haven't had a reason to check it out until today. It was smaller than I expected but there were plenty of tables so that wasn't a problem. The menu is above the order counter where I was pleasently surprised to see that the prices are actually the same as on their website. The prices are very reasonable. I picked The Farmer's Feast and my guests both selected the Oilers burger. I can't say that I could see any connection between the names and the burgers but that's okay. My burger was quite tasty and tender. This was definitely not a fast food frozen beef paddy. Surprisingly it wasn't even very messy. We ordered yam fries and onion rings as well. Ambiance was non-existent but perhaps that's why the prices were so good. If you are looking for a good burger at a very good price then check out Meat The Bun. I recommend it. read more

Stopped here for late lunch Sunday around 2:30PM. 1 other couple eating. I got the Colonel again as last time it was top notch. This time very underwhelming. Chicken was smaller than I expected and less crispy. Boyfriend go the dirty jerk and I loved the flavor and a really nice big portion of chicken in it - super messy. Fries were fresh but not salty enough for me. Vanilla milkshake was more icy than creamy but it was decently thick - wouldn't get again. We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It doesn't provide much seating and nor is it inviting to stay. However, since we drove all the way from the north side, there is little point of driving the half hour back. The stuff would be cold then. Also this is just a personal thing, I generally hate having to go up to order. I do all the cooking and serving in my house so when I am out I would like to be served. Place serves only burgers, fries, and onion rings with two token dogs on the menu. However, a diverse menu and I liked how each one was quite different. I went with The Queen - Handcrafted 5oz Beef Puck, MTB Black Bun, Truffle infused Mushroom , Smoked Gouda Cheese, Arugula, Truffle Aioli, Crispy Onion Rings My kiddo went with Dirty Jerk Jamaican -Jerk Spiced Chicken, Brioche Bun, Jerk Aioli, Coleslaw. and birthday boy went with Farm Feast In House Braised Brisket, Brioche Bun, Blue Cheese, Horseradish Mustard Aioli, Arugula, Crispy Onion Rings. We all added fries and a milkshake to each one. Food came out in adequate time. The service was okay, but I can't say that they were loving thier jobs there. Food though was really great. My bun was nice and soft, and the truffle infused mushrooms paired well with patty. Loved the truffle aioli. Fries were excellent and the milkshake was decent. Kiddo liked her Dirty Jerk sandwich. I took a bite and it was quite agreeable. However she didn't like the coleslaw. Hubbys burger was excellent. The braised brisket was a pleasant surprise. It fell apart with every bite. For a first impression this place wasn't good. Service was relatively fast. Needs more seating. The ketchup was watery and it didn't have good taste (definitely not Heinz). I tried their signature butter chicken burger and was less than impressed. Bun was disintegrating and the burger was sloppy. The taste of the burger was out of harmony. This goes well with basmati and naan but not in a burger. Onion rings were refried or perhaps the oil had been hydrogenated way too much as it tasted too rancid. So glad to have this burger gem near my home. Honestly, i can have these burgers every other day. My favourites are The Whistle Pig, Swish Swish and Uptown Downtown. Their Juicy patties, delicious sauces and herbs makes them irresistible. They have nice seating arrangement and the interior of the place is nicely done for a hamburger restaurant. They have unique burger names and the staff is courteous and friendly. I would like to give their milkshakes a try on my next visit. read more

It's nice that a new burger place opened up in the city. I visited this place a few weeks after they opened. The burgers are on the pricier side but they have a unique menu. I tried The Queen and my partner tried The Oilers. The Queen tasted fresh and crispy. All the ingredients really meshed well together and I quite enjoyed the burger. My partner also thought The Oilers was delicious as well. We also orders chicken tenders as a side and it was very disappointing. For $6, there were only three pieces and they were close to being overcooked. They were definitely not worth the price. Also the wait time for the food was very long. We waited around 20-25minutes for our food which I don't think is reasonable. Hopefully their wait time has improved since my last visit. read more

Heard good things about this place. Decided to check it out on Saturday night, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed! The bun was very tasty, the patty was juicy, and had good flavour. I give 3 stars because the first time I ate here it was amazing! No complaints what so ever. Definitely can't say the same the second time around though.. beyond disappointed. Patties were over cooked and burnt on the outside which made it very dry. And they only had half a slice of bacon, not even a full slice like cmon this isn't McDonald's... and one burger wasn't wrapped properly, burger was spilling out too. The flavors were very good and the truffle poutine is amazing I would like to add. But from reading past reviews on google it appears as though the management/owner doesn't care much about making things right with customers. Too bad! That's how you lose customers. I decided to try out this place tonight since I've heard so much about it on Facebook and it's so close to home. The girl at the cash register was very friendly and told me about their most popular burgers, but I decided to build my own. First of all, for the price they charge, this is a very small burger at 5 ounces. Similar places like theirs have a 7 or 8 ounce patty for the same price, so if you are very hungry, this burger won't fill you up. When my order arrived, I noticed that the patty was overcooked to the point of being dried out and burnt. I said as much, but decided to eat it anyways. Aside from being overdone, I found the patty itself to be very bland and flavorless, needing to be enhanced by the condiments and toppings in order to make it palatable for me. For some odd reason, the ketchup they had at the table was very watery and tasted like white vinegar- perhaps they make a vinegar/ketchup mix to fill the bottles with? At any rate, I'm glad I tried this place out for myself just to see what all the hype is about, but since I was underwhelmed, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. The Burger Joint on 23 ave is far superior in every way compared to this new place, so I'll continue to give them my burger business instead. read more

A very nice little new burger joint to the city with some very interesting unique twist to burgers. The menu is small, but plenty of burger, sides and drink selections to choose from. I ended up ordering The Colonel Treat with a side of onion ring. The colonel treat is a hand breaded crispy chicken served on a brioche bun with ancho aioli, sriracha glaze, lettuce tomato, and pickle. There was a nice kick of heat to the burger, but it wasn't spicy at all. I liked that the crispy chicken was not dry, but was rather juicy and very crispy on the outside. I really liked that it was also served on a brioche bun. I don't know if the onion rings was made fresh to order, but it was alright. There's definitely some interesting burgers on the menu that I would really like to try, but that's for another day or when I'm on the Southside again. read more

Really clean, well-styled restaurant. Easy to read menu with great options and prices. Friendly staff! Fresh fries dropped for our order. Fries were great and well seasoned. Patty was cooked perfectly. The brioche bun was the best part - soft and spongy, but did not fall apart at all. I had the Oiler burger, but I feel as though it lacked sauce in the bottom of the burger - felt dry. I also only tasted bbq sauce, and am not sure if the tomato bacon jam was put on it. Would also prefer iceberg lettuce over romaine as the romaine kind of melted into the bun due to how thin it was. Iceberg lettuce would add a nice crunch for more variance in texture that I think the burger needs. Have been there with 4 person and had the Oilers Burger, Fries and each a can of coke. Paid $80 and we were very disappointed I appreciate local businesses and food made from scratch like here but the performance of this burgers was just POOR! There was so less stuff on the burger it's ridiculous for $13!! Meantime we went in the pub beside and got actually a value for the money we paid. Sorry for a bad review but it seems I am not the only one how is unhappy with their Oilers Burger . Sad but true. A piece of tomato or a leaf of lettuce and some other fillers really cost nearly nothing and you would avoid bad reviews like this. Time to improve ! Nobody wants to pay hard earned money for a burger meal to be disappointed with it! I am pretty sure you can do better, therefore 3 stars otherwise it would be only one.
