Best spot for hot pot meats. Service is always great and prices are reasonable. Will be coming here from now on.

This was definitely huge sticker shock for me because I'm usd to getting mine from Safeway or Costco where they are less than half the price, but at least we were supporting a local business. They had a good selection of other meats including different seasoned bacons, marinated chickens, sausage, among other stuff. Again, pretty pricey, but it's an old school deli in Los Altos, so not too surprised by most of the pricing. Enjoyed the corned beef and bacon we got!

It usually takes me two and a half hours but hey I get to see my friends and drop in on Dittmer's. I usually buy the smoked ham hocks because I am addicted to a Cuban black bean soup. I have tried smoked ham hocks from other sources, but the results were so bad that I threw out the soup. The only place I have found that has true smoked ham hocks is Dittmer's. I noticed the price of ham hocks has gone up. But many of the other prices have held steady. The store remains neatly organized and is spic and span. It's kind of what you would expect from a German shop. Carlo's black bean soup from All around the world cookbook by Sheila Lukins. Totally worth a 2.5 hour drive. 2 pounds of black beans Quarter cup olive oil 3 cups, diced onions Eight cloves of garlic, bruised and peeled. One smoked ham hock 6 quarts water 2 tablespoons +1 teaspoons ground cumin 1 tablespoon dried oregano Three bay leaves. 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper Pinch of cayenne 6 tablespoons chopped flat leaf parsley 6 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves. 1 teaspoon salt Two medium red bell peppers, diced reserve a quarter of a cup for the garnish Quarter cup dry sherry 1 tablespoon pack of brown sugar 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice. One cup of crème fraîche or sour cream. Soak the beans overnight, drain and rinse. Heat the oil over low heat and sweat the onions and garlic, about 10 minutes. Add the beans with the ham and the water to a large pot. Stir in the 2 tablespoons cumin, the oregano, bay leaves, black pepper, cayenne, and 2 tablespoons each of the parsley in cilantro. Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered until the beans are very tender and the liquid is reduced by about 3/4. This will take about one and a half to two hours. Transfer the bone to a plate and let it cool slightly. shred the meat and return it to the pot. Stir in the remaining 4 tablespoons parsley, 2 tablespoons cilantro, salt, and all except 1/4 of a cup of the bell peppers, the remaining 1 tablespoon cumin, the sherry, brown sugar and, lime juice. Simmer another 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Adjust the seasoning and serve hot. Garnish with a dollop of crème fraîche and a sprinkling of the diced peppers and chopped cilantro. Eight large servings or 12 small portions.

The brisket was some of the best brisket we've had a kbbq. Most places serve it much thinner than here but we liked it here a lot. The beef tongue was perfect with the truffle salt. And the A5 wagyu was the perfect fattiness to end the meal with the bibimbap. We'd definitely come back since everything, even the banchan was delicious. Definitely make a reservation though, since the wait can be a little long!

We had reservations but still had to wait a little while as we had a party of 8. We were seated in 2 separate but adjoining tables. KBBQ Meat - Not just any meat, but high quality and highly graded meat. We ordered 5 out of the 10 cuts and they were all delicious. I also learned they are called 10 Butchers because of the 10 different cuts from the cow. Green Onion Pancake - This served as a good meat palate cleanser. However, if I had known beforehand that they served similar mini pancakes as a side small plate, I wouldn't have ordered this as an appetizer. Wagyu Dumplings with Rice Cake - This was also good to have aside from the KBBQ. The flavor was simple yet comforting. One order is good for 4 people. Banchan - All were great! My personal fave was the yellow dried squid or fish with black sesame seeds. And that mashed purple yam thing was also good. I just wish they told us what each dish was. Like I didn't know what to do with the bowl with apple water? Service - As someone who has been fortunate enough to experience KBBQ in Seoul, this was the closest to it. Having the restaurant staff cook the bbq for you ensures the meat is cooked to your desired doneness.

I've also tried their indoor seating where you can order the food off the menu. I love the appetizers, the main dishes and I always finish my dinner with cold baklava and a Turkish coffee. I love the interior design, with the images of popular Turkish places like Istanbul and others, you feel like you are in Turkey. The staff is the kindest there is in the service industry. Everyone is polite, welcoming and work quickly even when there's a rush of customers. This place is a must try!

My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.

It's worth the time and effort for high quality meats; here it's Japanese style meat and bbq aka yakiniku. The service is wonderful too, the owner and staff are always very personable and eager to please each time we visit for the past three years. The place is warm and clean, I appreciate the overhead vents at each table. They are able to confidently accommodate large parties to two person groups. They can get busy and full on the weekends though, so consider making reservations. My friends and I don't gorge on meat as much as we used to, but when we do, Meat Time is high on the rotation due to the high quality meats and cuts, plus Japanese style bbq. We always order the premium selection of the all you can eat menu which is $68/person. You choose the cuts you want and the servers will bring them to you for you to grill at your table. They have extra premium wagyu cuts that are priced ala carte and worth it every time. As someone who just visited Japan a few times this past year, this place is as close as you will get to authentic Japanese wagyu in the greater San Jose/Milpitas area.
