Yummy Sauv Blanc. Better with cheese ?
    Andrew B.

Originally I had visited MCV Wines when they were in the Morro Bay area. It had been a long time and while visiting Paso Robles and the Tin City Annex area I saw their building and made a plan to stop in. I made a reservation through their website and decided to throw in a cheese pairing to go along with the tasting. Very comfy tasting room and was greeted by our host Jason who was already setup and waiting for our group. The wine lineup was phenomenal and while MCV Wines are known for their darker wines and all it's inky goodness they also had a nice Sauv Blanc and a tasting Granache. The tasting really had a well crafted order, and SUPER enjoyed the wine and cheese pairings. There was a cheese specifically picked to go with the tastes of each wine and having many of these in the past worked well. My favorite pairing of the group was the Midnight Moon paired with MCVs flagship 1105 (Dark Blend). When the wine hit the cheese, POP!, it diffused into some amazing flavors (and texture)! My second was the Mango Stilton with the Sauv Blanc, and while I normally don't drink a lot of white wine, that is a duo that I could plan for in the future. Also had a chance to meet the owner and winemaker Matt. Was nice to chat with him about his wines and always great to meet the people behind the grapes. Overall a really nice experience and would highly recommend this tasting room when visiting Paso Robles or Tin City in the near future (and be sure to try the wine and cheese pairing). What was your favorite?

AWESOME! The wine tasting experience was amazing. Matt and Teresa gave us such a wonderful wine tasting experience. I highly recommend this winery! All the wines we tasted were delicious!

The owner and the wines were amazing. My husband and I went here for our first ever wine tasting. We were so nervous because we never went wine tasting before, and we were scared that we were going to feel out of place or embarrassed during the process due to our inexperience. The owner is hilarious, and he's so down to earth. He made the experience much less intimidating because he was so thoughtful, knowledgeable, helpful, and humble. All of the wines are produced in his own vineyard in Paso Robles. They all score very high due to the balance in their flavors. My husband is a bit of a wine noob, so his palate hasn't adjusted to wines that aren't Stella Rosa. I, on the other hand, have experimented with wines more than him, and the MCV wines are so great. He showed us a trick when it came to wine tasting. When smelling the wine, place your nose over the glass at a tilt, open your mouth slightly, and inhale. Depending on the angle of the tilt, your nose can perceive the fruit taste or the alcohol taste. We found this so fun and entertaining. Not only did we do a wine tasting, we also did a chocolate tasting that paired with the wine. Let me tell you, I am not a chocolate lover whatsoever. It's usually too sweet for my taste buds, but MCV's chocolate was to die for. There were about 5 or 6 different chocolates to taste. They all had a blend of different oils, nuts, and salts. I really wished that we had bought some chocolate to take home because MCV closed at 5 pm, and we had a boat ride that ended at 5 pm. Overall, I'd like to come back to buy some wine and chocolate when my husband and I are in the area. I appreciate the owner so much for not making us feel like idiots when tasting the wine.

Today, Thursday , they have wines by the glass for $5! What an incredible deal. Since I drink only white wines, I was able to get a generous sample of 3 different wines for less than a tasting! Wines are good but not as good as I remembered before they sold the winery. We had the Diavola pizza and the Porchetta sandwich. The pizza was delicious. The sandwich was pretty good but it was a little dry. We also ended our lunch with a lovely tiramisu. The tiramisu was moist with the right amount of alcohol and cream. Just delicious. Service was great. The staff are very friendly. My son has a dairy allergy and can't have the cheese on regular pizzas. The chef was very accommodating and allowed us to bring in our specially wrapped vegan cheese to use on his pizza. Thank you for this accommodation! The eatery was very calming and was a wonderful way to spend our lunch hour. They did not rush us and we felt very welcomed. Definitely will be back here again.

Went to their new location which was really convenient since we were going to other wineries near there. It's still a big location. Plenty of seating and they still offer food which we were happy about. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable which I always appreciate when it comes to wine. We started a tasting and then just tried whatever she gave us which we weren't complaining. Haha. All the wine she was giving us was really good. I was really impressed by their food. I wanted more of everything. We got their bruschetta al Fresco, hummus, monte Bianca pizza, and one other pizza. I fell in love with their bruschetta. We got there right as there kitchen closed which was a bummer because I wanted more. Overall, I still enjoy their wine. Their location is really nice. Food is delicious. And being totally inside with no views of anything was kind of a drag. But still 5 Stars due to the wines and the atmosphere of the inside. Deena was great and sat down and explained every wine in great detail. She even let me try the Reserve Cab which was excellent. One of the whites wasn't good at all and I had to ask for a new glass so I wouldn't taint the next sample. But you're probably not going to like them all. That's the fun part! I enjoyed learning about the Austin Hope winery and its origins. I felt like they grew in popularity quickly and threw up some barns to accommodate the crowds. For example, the bathroom wasn't well constructed as when people slammed the door shut, the walls shook. I can't imagine how the walls would shake if someone had a blowout here. Even with some of the downfalls, this was my favorite winery and I wish I could get some of the wines without joining the club. The commitment is too much and shipping is also high, so it's not worth it. The GSM was my favorite and if I ever see it somewhere, Ima get me some!

We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

We compared stories and wineries, etc. Lastly, she gave us a tour of the facility as the production just ended. This was unexpected and really appreciated. Price - $18 + generous tip.
