Yummy Sauv Blanc. Better with cheese ?
Andrew B.

Originally I had visited MCV Wines when they were in the Morro Bay area. It had been a long time and while visiting Paso Robles and the Tin City Annex area I saw their building and made a plan to stop in. I made a reservation through their website and decided to throw in a cheese pairing to go along with the tasting. Very comfy tasting room and was greeted by our host Jason who was already setup and waiting for our group. The wine lineup was phenomenal and while MCV Wines are known for their darker wines and all it's inky goodness they also had a nice Sauv Blanc and a tasting Granache. The tasting really had a well crafted order, and SUPER enjoyed the wine and cheese pairings. There was a cheese specifically picked to go with the tastes of each wine and having many of these in the past worked well. My favorite pairing of the group was the Midnight Moon paired with MCVs flagship 1105 (Dark Blend). When the wine hit the cheese, POP!, it diffused into some amazing flavors (and texture)! My second was the Mango Stilton with the Sauv Blanc, and while I normally don't drink a lot of white wine, that is a duo that I could plan for in the future. Also had a chance to meet the owner and winemaker Matt. Was nice to chat with him about his wines and always great to meet the people behind the grapes. Overall a really nice experience and would highly recommend this tasting room when visiting Paso Robles or Tin City in the near future (and be sure to try the wine and cheese pairing). What was your favorite?

Wine tasting at MCV Wines! Absolutely delicious!

AWESOME! The wine tasting experience was amazing. Matt and Teresa gave us such a wonderful wine tasting experience. I highly recommend this winery! All the wines we tasted were delicious!

The owner and the wines were amazing. My husband and I went here for our first ever wine tasting. We were so nervous because we never went wine tasting before, and we were scared that we were going to feel out of place or embarrassed during the process due to our inexperience. The owner is hilarious, and he's so down to earth. He made the experience much less intimidating because he was so thoughtful, knowledgeable, helpful, and humble. All of the wines are produced in his own vineyard in Paso Robles. They all score very high due to the balance in their flavors. My husband is a bit of a wine noob, so his palate hasn't adjusted to wines that aren't Stella Rosa. I, on the other hand, have experimented with wines more than him, and the MCV wines are so great. He showed us a trick when it came to wine tasting. When smelling the wine, place your nose over the glass at a tilt, open your mouth slightly, and inhale. Depending on the angle of the tilt, your nose can perceive the fruit taste or the alcohol taste. We found this so fun and entertaining. Not only did we do a wine tasting, we also did a chocolate tasting that paired with the wine. Let me tell you, I am not a chocolate lover whatsoever. It's usually too sweet for my taste buds, but MCV's chocolate was to die for. There were about 5 or 6 different chocolates to taste. They all had a blend of different oils, nuts, and salts. I really wished that we had bought some chocolate to take home because MCV closed at 5 pm, and we had a boat ride that ended at 5 pm. Overall, I'd like to come back to buy some wine and chocolate when my husband and I are in the area. I appreciate the owner so much for not making us feel like idiots when tasting the wine.

Our cabana for the afternoon.

Once I heard what happened I was more sad but happy to hear the new owner wants to continue Vina Robles. I wish as a member I would have gotten notified. Went to their new location which was really convenient since we were going to other wineries near there. It's still a big location. Plenty of seating and they still offer food which we were happy about. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable which I always appreciate when it comes to wine. We started a tasting and then just tried whatever she gave us which we weren't complaining. Haha. All the wine she was giving us was really good. I was really impressed by their food. I wanted more of everything. We got their bruschetta al Fresco, hummus, monte Bianca pizza, and one other pizza. I fell in love with their bruschetta. We got there right as there kitchen closed which was a bummer because I wanted more. Overall, I still enjoy their wine. Their location is really nice. Food is delicious. I will conintue being a member and will stop by anytime I am in the area.

I booked it online and then reserved online in their website. No phone call was needed. We reserved noon on Saturday and after all of our party arrived we went upstairs to our lovely comfy leather sofas to settle in for the duration. We were given 4 pizzas of our choice and 4 salads and served buffet style so everyone could load their plate. We also added 3 orders of yummy meatballs. I cut them in half for serving. Artichoke hearts appetizer, charcuterie board and more. They provided juice boxes for the little boys in our party. The food was more than enough for Lunch. We could have fed more people and we took home a lot of pizza. The Italian sausage pizza was very good but we had the hot honey on the side as none of the group was interested in it. The wine was good, as usual. I had only whites. The rest of the group had the standard white then red tasting. The sparkling rose is also very good and upstairs you have dedicated bottle server. Service was excellent. They had live music downstairs and a market event going with vendors selling goods for the holiday season. I love this venue and will return soon. Improvement needed. Buy some large paper plates for the buffet lunch. It's a shared food event. All we had was tiny appetizer plates. We asked for larger but they had none. ** edit. Update. The manager replied and has ordered larger plates so I'm happy to hear this. We are already talking about coming back again. Dec 18, 2025 The Cesar salad had nice shaved cheese but no salad dressing.

We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Quality/Quantity - After tasting a few wines, I settled on a glass of Pinot Noir. Atmosphere - Small tasting room, bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. Plus tasting. Got lucky, as today they were bottling so we got to experience that a little. And due to the small size, they bottle via a trailer; see pictures. Plenty of Tin City parking, as we got here late and right before closing. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 5pm. Service - Emma was perfect. As usual, we were the only customers. We compared stories and wineries, etc. Lastly, she gave us a tour of the facility as the production just ended. This was unexpected and really appreciated. Price - $18 + generous tip. I just got a glass of their Pinot Noir. Tastings are $20 a person and waived with two bottle purchases. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2019. They were happy to accept us as walk-ins, and offered us our choice of seating. They have outdoor seating and indoor standing tastings at the bar, since we didn't have too much time we opted for a bar tasting with Kirsten (the wife of one of the owners). It was great learning about the wines, and the area of France that they are inspired by. The wines here are a little different than most you see in Paso, they have a lot of white wine and do a decent amount of skin contact on some of them. Some of the wines reminded me of natural wine, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I know a lot of people who love them. I ended up leaving with a bottle of their 100% Pinot Blanc, a little sweeter than something I would usually go for, but I'm excited to drink it on a nice summer day!

Being able to enjoy some of their older vintages this way makes the experience even more special for wine enthusiasts. What I appreciate most about DAOU is how they've managed to maintain a small, family-style atmosphere despite being acquired by a larger company a few years ago. The hospitality still feels personal and genuine. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the wines themselves but also about the history of the vineyard and the vision behind it. The whole visit struck that rare balance: polished without feeling formal, refined without ever feeling rushed or "in-and-out." Dennis has been with Eberle since 2017, and you can feel how much he cares about the place. He spoke about the winery with such genuine pride, and as you look around the tasting room at the rows of award ribbons from years of vintages, it hits you--this is a place with real history behind it. That sense of legacy and care is woven into the whole experience. The historic wine caves are a must, the complimentary tasting felt generous and unhurried, and the grounds have that unmistakable Paso magic--rolling hills, big oaks, golden light, and room to breathe. We even crossed paths with Gary Eberle (founder, 1979) and his sweet black poodle, Vieto--one of those authentic, only-in-wine-country moments that sums up the welcoming spirit here.
