Cairjn (like barn with a C) provides an intimate tasting experience with the people that know the wine the best, the family that runs the place - one of which is the winemaker. We came in on a Saturday morning without a reservation and Michele (owner and wife to the winemaker) was happy to lead us through a tasting. She sat with us in their cozy and modern tasting room and chatted Cairjn, wine, and Paso the whole time. It was really cool hearing about all the small details that go into the wines including the different cork designs for each. We enjoyed the wines we tried and each ended up going home with a bottle of rosé. The fan favorite was an off menu pour that was sadly a wine club only wine, because I for sure would've gone home with that too. The tasting room is tucked away in an industrial area, so you might not find it unless you're visiting another tasting room over there, or happen to have it recommended to you, like we did on a previous trip to Paso.

Our visit to Cairjn Wine Cellars was simply spectacular! We opted for a 10:30 AM tasting and owner/winemaker Andy Neja was there to greet us as we entered the tasting room. Cairjn Wine Cellars is tucked away in an industrial area near the 46. There is absolutely no signage but we had been in this area before and already had a good idea where it was located. Our host for the tasting was Andy Neja who is the winemaker and owner of Cairjn. Andy is a wonderful guy, knowledgeable and outstanding winemaker. Andy treated us to a tasting of at least 9 of his wines and each wine was outstanding. Our favorites were the Albariño, the Grenache and the Syrah. All other wines were spectacular but these wines truly stood out. Tastings are very intimate. In fact we were the only ones tasting and therefore had Andy to ourselves. Cairjn Wine Cellars produces just 1,100 cases a year with plans to not exceed 2,000 cases a year. They are focused on producing quality over quantity which translates to outstanding wine, year after year. We plan to visit again in the fall and bring friends along with us. This is an easy 5 star winery. A must visit for those who appreciate fine wine.

The tour started at 10am cause it would be too hot to be outside in the afternoon. Our tour guy was very professional and knowledgeable about this massive vineyard resort. The tour took about an hour and half and finished with wine tasting in the resort tasting room. We were introduced to the entire property, history and facts about this winery. I really liked the cute goats on the ground. I was worried about them being in the heat and out in the sun. But our tour guy assured me that they made sure the animals stay in shaded areas and drink enough water to stay hydrated. The arts of this place are just fantastic. Owner is a big art collector so he covers quite a few cultures including Buddha (my faith)! All the arts are from the original countries so they are authentic. I loved the amazing art installations throughout the vineyard. My sign Virgo was on the top of the hill so we had to do a mill hike to see it. There is an art tour that we will do next time. I really want to know the details and histories of all the arts here. I was so glad that we decided to do this tour. If you ever visit Paso Robles wine country you might want to check this winery out. The prices were reasonable at $45 per person, $30 for resort guests and complimentary for members (2 people). The hours are Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at 10am. Reservations are required. Ps. I'd suggest not visit in summer, central coast summer temperatures are unbearable!

We went on a Sunday and they had live music, which was really fun. They also have a pistachio farm on site and they sell various flavors of pistachios! We grabbed a few bags to have with our wine. It was my first time trying a Viognier, it was delicious! The server described it was a "white wine for red drinkers" and I can see why. Really full-bodied, almost a creamy mouthfeel, overall delicious. Such a great time at Sculpterra, we'll be back and have recommended it to everyone we've talked to since then!

I figured we would be seated but the tasting occured standing up at the bar, which was fine. The tastings were generous, and customizable. My friend decided to do a white tasting, and I did the standard tasting. It was pretty hot, so about halfway through the tasting, we sat down at a table in the shade and walked up for the rest of our tastings but by that time, a large group had come through so the server was busier but still managed to remember where we were in the tasting. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. When we were done with our tastings, we walked around the property to look at the sculptures and the grounds. I did buy a bottle of wine and picked it up inside where they had other items for sale from local vendors, including our server who makes soap with her goat's milk.

Cass has always been our go-to spot for lunch, so while celebrating a birthday in Paso this weekend, we made a reservation for six and were really looking forward to a delicious meal. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing from start to finish. After everyone ordered food and wine, it took about 20 minutes for the first entrée to arrive. Our friend's Piggy Pig came out first, and the rest of us waited another 15 minutes for our meals, leaving their food to get cold while everyone waited. My husband ordered the Estate Burger, which has always been one of the reasons we return to Cass. This time, the patty was small, dry, and looked more like a frozen patty than the fresh, juicy, artisan-style burger we remembered. My brother-in-law and I ordered the Campanelle with chicken. The pasta was hot, but the chicken was cold, and the two identical orders were noticeably different in portion size. Because we were celebrating a birthday and didn't want to spoil the weekend, we chose not to make a big issue of it at the time. We did mention our concerns to one of the servers and asked whether the burger had changed. We were told no changes had been made and were simply advised to try the tri-tip next time, which didn't really address our concerns. Sadly, I don't think we'll be returning. Cass has been a favorite of ours for a long time, which made this experience especially disappointing. It is also one of the higher-priced dining options in Paso, so we expected the food and service to reflect that. Perhaps it was simply an off day, but unfortunately, it felt like it was at our expense.
