It hurt me to eat here--metaphorically because I have so many fond memories of both the early childhood and drunken teenage varieties of this building's former incarnation as the Kozy Korner, but more importantly physically, in that each of the two times I've dined here, I have not felt quite right afterwards.   The first time was an OK burger, didn't really make the connection/wasn't sure if it  was the dinner or just me. This last time, though, grabbed breakfast while waiting for someone at a nearby doctor's appointment, and pretty much as soon as I finished I was wondering if I should ask to switch spots and report right to the doctors.   I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs-- figured that's a good diner staple, and in an Irish neighborhood to boot.  Unfortunately it tasted bad as it went down, and it sat even worse.  Eggs were ok, but he hash was burnt, had more potatoes in it than actual meat, and whatever chemical product masquerading as butter was on top of the toast tasted horrible.  Didn't enjoy my meal, and by the time I was paying my check, I was bolting out of here in digestive distress. There are a lot of great breakfast spots and Irish cafes in this area--I'll be sticking to those instead going forward myself. read more

I was looking for a diner near me where I can go have breakfast on the weekends. I found this spot and was a bit apprehensive due to all the negative reviews. But after coming here for the last 4+ months I can gladly say I have never had a bad experience here. I'm not too sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. Service is always friendly, even when they are busy. They are very on top of things like coffee refills and checking if you need anything. It's a nice ambiance, its never too loud in there. My food has always been great! I even ask for some specific meal requests and they always accommodate no problem. The only negative thing I have to say is that I personally did not enjoy their shrimp or their tacos. However all their breakfast items, bagels, sandwiches and even the chicken parm is great! I have been coming here consistently for over 4 months and will continue to do so. Give them a shot. read more

I ordered a chicken club sandwich from this place and what I received wasn't even close. I got some chopped up chicken fingers with cheese in a pita bread wrap and it took over an hour for delivery. I've passed this place many times, this was my first time. They must have new owners or staff. It was a Friday morning and the place was pretty empty. We ordered a Spanish omelet with no mushrooms in it and bacon and eggs with rye toast. For some reason it took quite a long time for the food to come out. The Spanish omelet had mushrooms in the sauce on top. My friend gave them to me. The toast seemed very dry and barely buttered. I don't recall if it came with juice. But it didn't come with the meal. So when we could catch the lone waiter's attention we asked for more butter. The portions were sufficient and for the two of us it came to $16. Most waitstaff usually come around asking how the meal is? Or if the customer wants their coffee, topped off. We were almost finished when the waiter asked if we wanted more coffee. Too late, now. I would not recommend this diner at all. The service and quality of food has gone way down when compared to 10+ years ago. I used go to this diner almost every Sunday and when COVID-19 hit I stopped going. 3years after COVID-19 I decided to pay them a visit and I truly regret. I was excited to try their Mexican menu and tried the Steak Fajita platter. This is truly an insult to the Woodlawn community, this platter looked nothing like a Steak fajita; it was smothered in a watery red sauce with soggy tomatoes, diced Jalapeños and onions, the steak did not have any flavor at all. The tortillas were brought in waxed paper wrap and they obviously warmed it up in the microwave, the rice was yellow uncle ben's rice and the black beans were canned, lentil tasting beans seasoned with chicken bouillon. I've had authentic Mexican food and this was nothing like it, no guacamole, no crema, no cheese....what a rip off. read more

I also live close by and walk to pick up or dine in - so i can't relate to those with delivery issues. Their staff is super nice and the food is good. A few good options to try are their Greek Salads, the McLean Corner Special Panini, House Wrap, and Te-Mex panini anything on their breakfast menu! read more

This used to be a great spot to eat. I know management has changed. I can tell by the service. In two visit within the week, I will say that I won't be eating here again.. Sunday they never bought the bill over so I went to the cash register to cash out.. Wednesday, I order steak eggs and grits.. she never bought me butter that I asked for, no jelly for toast nor steak sauce for the steak. Grits got Luke warm by the time I did receive butter the steak was hard and not to mention something floating in the tea, I just chalked it up as remnants of tea from the the tea box... I didn't eat it all it grew nasty after ever bite. If I could it a half if a star I would.. the little triangle in the star.. oh and this time I'm not tripping on the tax I'm tipping before the tax. Truly awful service and flavorless food. The fact that I've been here more than once only speaks to the dearth of good diners in the area and is not in any way an endorsement. They've only gotten worse and I've officially given up on coming here. Breakfast on the weekend is an hours long affair as you must wait for one of the 2 waitresses working (if you are lucky; at times there is only 1). Then, once you've placed your order, there's no guarantee that you'll actually get what you've ordered. My scrambled eggs and home fries came out as a bacon and egg sandwich. When I pointed out the error, the waitress took the plate back. Time passed, my dining companions had nearly finished their breakfasts, and I still had not received my correct order. Were they going to the farm to get new eggs? No, after all that time, I was brought a plate of cold eggs that had clearly been taken off the 1st roll I was brought (they were sliced in half as the sandwich had been) alongside underdone and tasteless potatoes. I considered sending it back again, but I was starving and not about to wait another 20 minutes without the promise of actually getting what I ordered. So, no, I will not be back. It's been nearly 2 years since my first review and NOTHING has changed. These people do not know how to run a diner. My simple request of "no croutons in my French onion soup" went in one ear and out the other. My friend asked what was in the chicken soup and the waitress said "some vegetables and the twist pasta". Not that it made a big difference but soup had rice, not pasta. The egg salad was tasteless and the portion was small. The size of their ceramic coffee/tea cup is ridiculously small. Soda is only sold in cans....but they do have fountain machines from the last owner. (Do they not know that fountain soda cost them about six cents per serving!) I've eaten here a few times since my 1st review. Haven't left happy once. (Outgoing/delivery orders always half wrong) This really stinks for me since I live so close and it's so convenient. I've read all of the other reviews here and any positive ones must be Fake! Check out the Barbie Doll size of OJ that comes with your breakfast. What a joke!! read more

McLean's staff at it again- forgot to put in my bacon- I called to say my order was wrong- girl starts screaming at me that I didn't order it- the only reason I order breakfast was because I wanted the bacon- trash customer service- and the manager never seems to be there- that explains why the girl who takes the orders on Monday mornings- feels free to scream at customers, when she is the one who got it wrong- how are you going to tell someone they didn't order what they wanted- it's unreal!!! I can't imagine why this place doesn't rate higher. I had a pastrami reuben sandwich that had to be eaten open faced because it was so large. Just the way I like it. Fresh and delicious. I could actually knock the review down one star because the restaurant looked like it was out of 1970 but I won't as the place was absolutely spotless. My wife went to the ladies room before we left and said she hasn't been in too many restrooms that were as clean as this one. Please give this place a shot. read more

This place has gone down hill unfortunately. And it's mainly because of the service. The waitress that was there this morning basically ignored me for ten minutes and there were only 2 other people dining at the time. She was on her phone instead of taking my order. Then when she took my order and it came out, I mentioned that my order was wrong and then she told me that's what I ordered when I knew it wasn't. The food is just ok, nothing to write home about. Nice small diner in the Irish section of Yonkers. They do Irish breakfast which is delicious as long as you don't ask what the meat is. The regular breakfast is really good. I had pancakes, eggs and sausage. The pancakes were cooked light, fluffy and delicious. The eggs were done just like I like them and the sausage was delicious. The bottomless coffee was good as well. Clean, bright diner with friendly staff. There is a counter and both tables and booths. Good food and regular diner value. read more

I'm giving three stars because my panini was not halfbad but the wait staff is completely clueless. I know waiting tables is not anyone's dream job but just one iota of personality would've make my visit more pleasant. Nobody ever checked back on me after the food was served nor to see if I needed a refill or how I enjoyed the meal or whether I wanted dessert. Now I'm no waiter but those are just the basics, right? Anyway, there was no further interaction until I had to track them down for the bill. Oh and there were about two other patrons in the joint so it's not like they were overwhelmed. Ok so this is a update to my previous review, cause I really don't know how to delete the old one. Lol. I finally got in contact with someone from the restaurant and he was so nice about the whole situation. He offered to have the salsa and guacamole sent right over and even offered to give me a discount on my next order. There is something to be said about great customer service and making your customers happy. I really appreciate it as I work in the service industry as well and know how easy it is to alienate customers with bad service. Great job guy on the phone (didn't get his name), I am a satisfied customer. Old review: I placed an order through grubhub for a Deluxe Mexican burger, with specifications that the fries be well done and extra crispy. I was so surprised that my order came 30 mins earlier than the predicted time of delivery, and that my fries were done exactly the way I wanted them. However, my burger was definitely not Mexican. There was not guacamole or salsa as the menu promised. I got a regular ole over done burger patty, on a way to soft bun with cheese. I tried calling them to inform them of the mix up, but was unsuccessful in getting in contact with them. I am really disappointed because I read all the wonderful reviews and expected a way better experience. Definitely won't be order from there again read more

Went yesterday with my husband. Staff was pleasant and we were seated immediately. Within seconds we were asked for our drinks. We were given time to look over the menu. My husband ordered the omelet with fries and it looked delicious. He was very pleased. I had the challah French toast and bacon. The bacon was meh! But I survived. Our only complaint is the plastic cup given for the OJ carton had lipstick on it. Waiter immediately took it back and provided a clean cup. Overall, a good experience. read more

Have been here at least twice to 3 times a month for sit in and a lot for coffee to go as it's the only diner close by my job, but every time I go which is mostly at lunch the service sucks! On my LAST EVER visit after dealing with the slow service yet again and no one coming back to check on me (too busy hanging out at the counter) I went up to pay the bill as I couldn't get there attention to bring the check AND the guy waiter told me $15!!!! Now haven ate here numerous times I know the price of a burger and soda, so I asked him for a receipt he looked frazzled as he couldn't add anything to make the bill $15 even so he gave me the receipt it was just under $12 REALLY he wanted to steal $3 when he know's I always tip good, I even leave a dollar if I stop by to grab a small coffee to go on my way to work......so disappointed and if you are doing it to me your probably doing it to more people!!!! Maybe that's why they are too busy to bring you the bill because if you pay at the counter you don't know what the cost should be!! Horrible!
