Absolutely horrible experience today. I ordered through GrubHub and it said 25 to 35 minutes for delivery. I called when it had been 50 minutes and was told that they didn't know when the delivery person would be back to pick up my order and bring it to me. I went in and ordered at the counter. It took AN HOUR to get my food (a couple burgers and a wrap). This is unacceptable for diner food. They even had to look in the menu to tell the cook what was in a dish. The only reason I gave two stars is because the food tasted decent; not great just decent. Mclean Corner cafe is located in a very Irish neighbourhood. I visit this diner a few times when I am in this area. It is under new management my experience here in my last two visits has being very good, the food is good and the staff are very nice. But the main reason I decided to write this is that in both occasion I have been there the new owner (Alex) stop by my table to check and make sure I was happy with everything, as he did to all the customers. I have ordered from this place many times. Each time I order from this place there is always a problem. The food is always cold, wrong order and they all have bad attitudes. The main guy that usually answers the phone for deliveries doesn't give you a chance to even get a single word out without getting upset. I've personally had them tell me that I have to be more specific on whether I want a bacon egg and cheese with bread or no bread. Doesn't make sense. They need new people. A girl in that restaurant doesn't even understand English. She has gotten my orders and my address wrong multiple times. The delivery service is horrible. Found this hair in my coleslaw. When I contacted Grubhub to let them know, the restaurant offered to refund me $3 on an over $30 order. The complaint wasn't to actually get a refund nor food replacement, but this restaurant is really losing the quality of food they are selling. Horrible service. Ordered a BACON cheeseburger and guess what they forgot? *Eye roll* not only that the food was cold, the fries were soggy, and the two slices of cheese looked like plastic. Called them to rectify it, they say they can make a new burger only after I send back the first. Are you serious? I need to wait for the driver to come back to my house pick up the incorrect burger, drive back to their place, wait for them to cook up a new one and then still have to drive back? Under new management but hasn't really improved. First off, the order took an hour to deliver which I think is too long. And then, they got the order half wrong and then had the nerve to overcharge us. My co-worker ordered a club sandwich and I ordered a wrap, both with fries. Instead we got one wrap with under-cooked fries and one salad with an extra order of more under-cooked fries. The food is delicious but the customer service aspect needs to be worked on. The servers came across as unfriendly & I also felt snubbed & ignored. Examples: A) I had to signal them every time I needed something, & there were very few customers in there, so why did I have to do that? B) They didn't smile, say hello to me, or make me feel welcome either! And then one of the waitresses is talking on her cell phone in the bathroom, when I have to use it! C) When I asked this same waitress a question at the counter, she kind of came across as "inconvienced" when I asked her to please go and check if this restaurant will deliver to my home or not. (Why did I ask her to check? Well I certainly wasn't going to just accept no for an answer, even if she wasn't sure! Oh & FYI-Example C had occured AFTER I had paid for my meal!) What did I say or do to get such shabby treatment?! Was it because I was alone? If I was with somebody, would I have gotten treated better? And then when I call back, there is no Manager or Supervisor to speak with, and then I have to pratically beg to a different server on the phone to please go over the bill with me! Longer Delivery times than expected. My order was not correct, I ordered extra meat for the lumberjack and I got 1 extra piece of bacon, wrong toast. Did not even bother with my instructions Don't order the extra meat not worth it. I did order canadian bacon on the side and that was ok. So if you do order from them don't add it to the meal order is an extra side dish or they'll screw it up. I ordered over easy and I got over medium almost medium well. The new owners really try but it doesn't come together with the service. The food is fair the service is bad... No enthusiasm from the staff and very slow... I am writing this for my sister because she is too tired to do so. I am her witness. After getting up at 2:30 am for a flight back from Quebec City to NYC, all she wanted was some breakfast after arriving home. So, this place was called at 9:30 for delivery. Steak and eggs with a side of grits was ordered. 10:30 rolls up. Still no food delivered. Give the place a call and the lady on the phone says "Oh he is leaving now". Mind you, this place is literally 3 blocks from our house. Patiently waiting and the delivery guy doesn't show up until another half hour later. Yay! Time to eat. Open the bag and guess what? There's no steak with the steak and eggs! A call is placed and the lady on the phone says he will bring it back. Well, only the Lord knows how long that will take. So, my sister opts to walk it back herself and collect a refund. The lady asks her, "Well, were the grits in there"? As if something was accomplished. When you first walk in, you are not greeted by anyone and just stand there awkwardly until you grab an employees attetion and ask to be seated. They will probably pick one of the worst tables first to see if you except it. The place was pretty busy so it probably affected the service. Just wasn't sure who are server was because it changed time to time. The food was good but took a bit longer then expected. It seemed as though only half the staff was working as I had to track somebody down to pay my bill. I think it being under new management the diner was experiencing growing pains. I liked this place so much better when it was Kozy Korner! The service is mediocre, the food is okay, and the prices are higher than they should be. I've been disappointed the few times I've eaten there in the last couple years.....Also, I don't think this place qualifies as Irish in the way that the other businesses in the area clearly do. If anything, I'm pretty sure this diner is owned and operated by Hispanic, Albanian, or Greek people. We can't order from here anymore though because they keep ringing the bell of the 85 year old women with a walker and a broken knee that lives downstairs, yep they actually replace my customer info from grubhub with a neighbor's last name. Called about it again this morning and the woman that answered the phone needs to learn how to speak to a customer.Told me I gave the wrong info and it was MY fault. Really? Horrible service and food , ordered at 9:30 and had to call back several times before the driver decided to show up at 11:38 exact with our breakfast for the order to be wrong , so when we called back they said they can give us the bacon to each one of our platters that they were missing but it would b about another hour , so we decided we were going to cancel the order the young lady in the phone said no problem I'll send the driver back a hour later goes by I call back to see where the driver is and the young lady passes the phone off to another lady named Laura who basically told us that the other girl said we didn't order bacon to our platters after she spoke with us about THEIR misunderstanding prior to this call back and now tried to blame us for their mistake and tells us she's not sure when the driver can come back due to his deliveries after already having us wait for over two hrs just for the food to be wrong when it arrived. When asked to speak to a manger we were told that they weren't in at the time, and the time is now 12:38 and I'm currently still waiting as I type this post , I hope this makes them get it together over there , either way I will never waste my money or time again (3hrs from the time we ordered to be exact) YOU GUYS NEED TO TAKE THE TWO FEMALES THAT ANSWER THE PHONE AND SWITCH THEM TO DISHES SERIOUSLY THEY'RE THE WORSE !
