Tried Katie's Cottage for brunch and overall the experience was average at best. It's a small local restaurant with a decent selection of food, and the atmosphere was probably the highlight for us. It has a cozy Irish pub-type vibe that was really nice and inviting. The food itself was decent, and we ended up ordering one of the brunch specials that included mimosas. Unfortunately, we were charged extra for refills even though the menu clearly stated there would be no additional charge. We didn't dispute it with the waitress or staff, but it was definitely disappointing to see reflected on the bill. Another downside was the woman behind the bar, who didn't come across as very welcoming. We noticed similar interactions with other patrons as well, which was a bit of a turnoff and affected While the setting was nice and the food was okay, nothing really stood out enough for us to want to return. Katie's Cottage is a fantastic spot for a meal! They offer a great variety of breakfast and lunch options, plus a wide selection of drinks. The highlight for me was the Bacon Burger. I ordered mine, which you can choose how well it can be, medium with over-hard eggs which I also chose, and it came perfectly prepared with fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes along with bacon. Even before the main course, they start you off with a wonderful treat: a tray of bread and sweet raisin biscuits served with butter. Katie's Cottage is a very nice place to visit with a great atmosphere. I really liked the seating arrangement; they have a mix of comfortable padded seats and standard chairs, with larger tables that are very convenient for bigger families. They even have a bar area which adds to the variety of the space. The service was very nice and welcoming. As soon as we walked in, we were instantly served a tray of bread and sweet raisin biscuits with butter, which was a great touch! It is worth noting that the drinks and the food took a mediocre amount of time to come out, so it's a better spot for a relaxed meal. The menu is pretty short for breakfast, but the quality is high. I had the Breakfast Burger (ordered medium) with over-hard eggs, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. The fries were excellent--perfectly seasoned and nice and crispy. However, be careful with the drink "offer." Although we were told it came with a free Bloody Mary or Mimosa, we ended up being charged for them on the bill even after asking about it. My friend and I came in on Friday night around 5 and it was busy at the bar but not the dining room. We were told to sit wherever we wanted. This was my first time and it was a cozy environment. The menu has everything you could think of for an Irish pub and I had heard about the wings so we decided to try them as an app. We ordered Magners ciders which were not on the menu. I had the corned beef sandwich which was perfectly cooked and the fries are fresh cut which I love. My friend had the french onion soup and spinach salad which she enjoyed. I've driven by Katie's Cottage more times than I can count, but somehow never managed to stop in--despite it being right across from the Empire Casino and Yonkers Racetrack (which, let's be honest, is hard to miss). Last Friday night, I finally decided it was time to fix that. It turned out to be trivia night, and the main room was buzzing with teams deep in thought (or maybe just deep in their second round of drinks). We were seated in a cozy side atrium, complete with a fireplace and some great vintage photos of the racetrack and horses--very charming. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, and the food hit the spot--classic pub fare, done well. I had such a good time, I actually went back two days later to meet a friend for lunch. We ended up hanging out at the bar, enjoying some appetizers while catching up on life. The bartender was fantastic--never intrusive, but always there when we needed her. It was the perfect laid-back atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon. Suffice it to say, I'll be back. Probably more than I should be. read more

We ventured there for a great burger and that is exactly what we got, along with great service and a relaxed experience. My boyfriend and I were visiting my cousin. This is my cousin's favorite place so we came here for dinner. Amazing from start to finish. Danny behind the bar took great care of us. Our drinks were never empty. I would blink, and before I knew it my drink was refilled. For a small appetizer we had beer battered onion rings. They were delicious! I had the Cajun salmon with a baked potato. The salmon was cooked and flavored perfectly! It also came with a carrot purée and sautéed spinach. Absolutely delicious! My cousin also had the salmon, but with mashed potatoes. He definitely enjoyed it! My boyfriend had the corned beef sandwich with fries. He said it was the best corned beef sandwich he's ever had. Funny, this business has been here for many, many years - hell the building (when it was other businesses') has been around since the late 70's and this is the very first time I've ever been inside. Better late than never I suppose. As mentioned, the building has been around ever since I came into the area. For locals who'd remember, it was Chunkie's and Finish Line for a little while, then it became Katie's Cottage. Guess they're doing something right, since they've been here since - which is probably 2 decades plus by now. They've even added to the building now with a new extension. Thought it was about time I came here already. It's also a local business, which I've been trying to go out of my way these days to support. Inside has a small bar and several tables to sit and eat at. This place can be very crowded at certain times - day/night - depending on the times. They're open for business with table seating now, as well as take out (which I did today). Only had interaction with the guy behind the counter, who was friendly. Everything inside from the bar itself to the tables I saw looked clean. The menu has some variety. Usually in a new place I order a bacon cheeseburger, but this time I went different with a Philly Cheesesteak and a small 'Katie's Sampler' (which consists of wings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and jalapeno poppers). Both were good - and filling. Enough to where I already decided I will order from here again. Maybe one day I'll go the full service route and sit in. They have a small parking lot. Parking on the local streets is prohibited due to the casino patrons and employees ruining it for everyone so now you can only park on the local streets with a permit. If you don't mind walking several blocks, then you have that option or the small lot. This place is directly across the street from that Empire City Casino, so you can't miss it. Based off the menu alone, I'd recommend trying this place. It's nice to have another option in the area - and for me, it was nice to finally get here after decades. Will be back. read more

I went to Katie's for my birthday with my family. There were 8 of us on a Tuesday night so the resatauant was a little quiet. We sat in the back room which is very nice and tastefully decorated for Thanksgiving. The food was amazing! My wife and I had different chicken dishes and both were delicious. The rest of the family also raved about their meals which included wraps, corned beef and French dip sandwiches and chicken curry. Hot open faced turkey sandwich with a side of mashed. Lunch specials come with a soup. The barley soup filled me up. I decided to bring the turkey dish home for supper. After coming out of the Empire Casino I was looking for a good place to eat. After driving around Yonkers for a while looking at several places I happened upon this gem of a place right across the highway from the casino. As usually the case I found an excellent spot. Excellent food and great friendly service! OMG the Shepard pie was to die for. Made with fresh ground sirloin, it wasn't greasy at all, beautifully served with a bed of fresh mashed potatoes. The pasta carbonara was absolutely delicious. Probably among the best I've had. Then the drinks! Wow the margarita was outstanding, made with real fresh squeezed lime juice, delicious. This is a place I will go back to again. They clearly care about what they are serving and about the clients they serve. read more

Placed a large order from my job. Since they don't delivery we went to pick it up . One employee ordered their "Yonkers Special Sandwich" which is Roast Beef au jus with onions and cheese.. I guess they don't sell that anymore , even though it's on their online menu and the women who took the phone order didn't realize they don't sell it anymore. They should have call us back when the realized they don't make that sandwich instead of replacing it with some nasty looking slice of chicken with a weird red/orange color sauce. When we got back to the office and notice the sandwich wasn't what we ordered we called and where told we had to bring it back for a refund or exchange. My Husband and I ordered two beers from one of the waitresses, it took literally until 7:20 to get our drinks. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees, i kid you not we didn't get our order until 8:15, the two additional beers we ordered took forever to come. We were also sat at a table full of rabid Trump enthusiasts that were incredibly loud and obnoxious but that's not the establishments fault. However that's the type of people it attracts. I've passed this place for years while going into the city. I stopped once last summer and have been back a few times. The menu is a little eclectic for an Irish Pub - the usual Shepard's Pie and such then there are Italian/American favorites, hamburgers, and daily specials. Since I drive down I can't comment on the alcoholic beverages, although there's the usual beer and mixed drinks.
