The table was not clean when we arrived. The server did not clean it so we had to do it ourselves. This is a casuial place next to a golf course. Eight men drinking beer and nobody was eating when we arrived. The menu is a plain letter size white printed one pager. Menu: eight kinds of burgers and eight kinds of salads. The food was fine. Water comes in a plastic cup. This is a place that does not deserve more than 10% tips for their service. I was going to give it 3 stars but ultimately gave 4 because the price is affordable. read more

I had such a nice lunch here. The waitresses are fabulous, very nice and efficient. I ordered a patty melt which was tasty, really crispy and delicious. My friend ordered the Asian salad which was beautiful to look at, and had an extremely tasty peanut dressing, sliced oranges, Red cabbage and delicious tender strips of chicken. my Malibu Baybreeze was delicious and strong! it was a peaceful lunch as we sat back and watched the golfers putting. We were invited to hear music by a friend's band this past Saturday night and decided to come early for dinner at 7pm before the band went on at 8:45pm. We didn't have a reservation, and were greeted by a women who simply said "We don't have any tables..." and then just looked at me. It was the most bizarre encounter from someone who is supposed to represent the establishment. There was no "Unfortunately, it's Saturday night and we're just super busy. Sorry" Or "There will be a 30 minute wait" Nothing! Perhaps she was new at 'working the door', but it's a shame she wasn't versed in the skills of pleasantry, and so we departed with a bad taste in our mouths, ironically not even having tasted their food :) *She could probably learn a thing or two from the greeters at the North Street Tavern. We enjoyed a nice dinner in Mamaroneck, but what a bummer. Hopefully, we can try the Saxon Grill again in the near future. #FirstImpressions read more

I came in after playing 9 holes of golf and was mightily parched. The frosty Diet Coke and water was most appreciated! Service was slightly sluggish but ok. The nachos we're great. Served piping hot with perfect proportions of chili, cheese and chips! They were crispy too not soggy. Plentiful portions too!!! I was by myself and was super lucky to snag a seat by the outdoor patio TV. I played 9 holes of golf and was embarrassingly bad BUT--guess what? Since I snagged the twilight special, I got a 10 dollar voucher and my entire meal--sans tip, was $3.00. Check out picture. A peaceful spot out of the city and close to the road. We ate outdoors with golfers warming up as our view. Quiet and peaceful. The hamburgers are juicy and fresh. Totally recommend. Saxon Grill is located at the Saxon Woods Golf Course which is open to the public all year. It's been quite a few years since I've been going there, usually right after a round of golf for a burger and some beers. I have seen this place evolve into a fine casual establishment with no attitude. Phil, the main man, will welcome you with open arms, because that's the kind of guy he is. Saxon Grill was recently renovated, the interior, to give it an updated look and to lure in the golf widows for a nice meal, and it's also safe for kids! On the weekends you will always see families hanging out outside next to the putting green, relaxing, having a meal, getting together with friends, even in large groups sometimes. You don't need to play golf to spend time here. If you don't have a putter you can get one from the pro shop. During the summers, on Thursdays, and some Saturdays, Saxon Grill comes alive with a BBQ and live music. The band is always really good. If you're into live music and some dancing under the stars, be sure to make it down to a Thursday night soiree. The food is good too and there's enough for low cal and vegetarians along with burgers, dogs, and ribs. $20 for all you can eat and $5 if you just want to get drinks. This is also one of the best places to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the Golf course and there's ample parking. Another reason I like this place is the food. No matter what I get, i'm never disappointed. It's straight forward and simple. I usually go for chicken fingers or a burger, and you can get it any way you like it. The steak specials are also quite nice. And if you're into some nice cocktails or martinis, they wont shy away from it either. Apart from a decent beer choice on tap you have the usual bottle choices. Saxon Grill has always been my go to place in the neighborhood if I want some good food, service and a no hassle time while not worrying about the cost. It has a casual pub type atmosphere which is perfect for either friends who want to have a few drinks or families looking to have a low key meal. The best part is that you can sit outside and watch all the ill dressed golfers when the weather is nice. The breakfast menu is pretty concise, so mornings are not the best time to stop in with picky eaters; they basically have eggs, pancakes and coffee. The lunch and dinner menu is far more expansive. They serve burgers, pizza, pastas, etc. and the quality is always good. Pricing is fair for Scarsdale. I was here on a warm, not quite Summer, evening because a friend's band had a gig. We sat outside on the patio, listening to music and eating and drinking (I was NOT driving home so it was more like drinking and eating!). I opted for the Patty Melt, which some some unknown reason, always appeals to me. This one came with fries which were surprisingly good for a golf course. Now that I think about it, so was the burger. As the night went on, it seemed like the service got a little spotty, but overall I was pleasantly surprised by the evening, from the venue to the food to the overall experience. We were the only customers when we first arrived, so we didn't have to worry about social distancing. However, staff was wearing their masks down on their necks; even when standing at our table to take our order. Another person than sat with the owner/supervisor (unsure of her exact role) started smoking a few tables away from us, and the kitchen staff was also seen without masks on. The owner/supervisor walked by to greet another person that sat after us and said "she was over these masks". We changed our order "to go" and left. This place is definitely a hidden gem since it's hidden in the Saxon Woods golf course. I've eaten here a bunch times after a round of golf. I've also gone here a bunch of times just for lunch or dinner. The food is consistently very good! Keep in mind it's a grill at a golf course and not a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and you should have the same experience. The grilled chicken Caesar salad is awesome and their sandwiches and burgers kick a**. Saxon Grill also has a great deal on Thursday nights during the summer. They have what they call a "BBQ" but i don't think that label does the event justice. Every Thursday evening during the summer they have a $20pp all you can eat feast. I say BBQ isn't the right label because along with the normal burgers, dogs, sausage, steak, chicken, and salads that you would expect from a BBQ, they also have food such baked ziti, chicken scarp, clams, mussels, chicken francese, etc. All that, all you can eat for $20 and it's legitimately good food, is an absolute steal! I'm not sure what that dude that gave a 1 star rating is talking about. It must have been an anomaly. Laura has waited on my family and I a number of times and our experiences couldn't have been more opposite than what was described. All of the staff there are awesome and they are a big part of why I've given the rating I have. When you add up all the things you look for in a solid restaurant, reasonably priced, consistently good food, friendly and helpful staff, clean dining area, overall nice place, Saxon Grill hits on all of them. read more

We recently had out end of the year school party there. Due to the weather we were forced to be inside. Toni made it look great with the table cloths and buffet table. The food was great and lots of it. The service was terrific. There was not one thing that they could have done differently. Everyone had fun and we can't wait to go back. I am very surprised reading the review by Jaques. I have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years an have been a loyal patron. I have been served countless times in the summer by Laura who is never anything if not polite, charming and prompt in her service- as are all of the waitresses and staff from Terry and Steve to chef Larry and owner Phil. Saxon Grill is family friendly, fun and the food is always spot on and relatively inexpensive. I don't even play golf, but enjoy the atmosphere immensely and love the new look and renovation. The service varied as one waitress was friendly and attentive and the other waitress seemed annoyed I seated myself (even though I asked around and was told to seat myself). The bartenders are rude. In particular, the one who's had "19 years of bartending experience," blonde, with chicken legs next to the inside bar. While standing waiting for a drink, having a pleasant conversation with my friends, she turned to us with a tissue in her hand and loudly played her nasal trumpet in our face. My friends and I must have had a look of shock on our faces because she wanted to know "what our problem was" and said "was it because you had to wait a couple minutes for a drink" with an attitude. I ordered my drink, I gave her a tip, and continued talking. She further asked the man I was with what he would like to drink and gave him his beer for free, obviously out of spite, and said "it's on me" with a cutsie little smirk. He turned to me and said "should I go to the bathroom and wash it before I drink it." LOL. By the time I got back to my table, my friends were hysterically laughing about the story with a new drink waiting for me. Stopped here because it was the closest to the highway. The golf courses atmosphere was casual but quiet. We sat out on the patio, as was everyone else. My mom and I shared the cobb salad and my dad ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Our waitress brought us our drinks and food, the salad already split on two plates. The salad was very good and reasonably priced for the size, the ingredients seemed fresh. The burger, was ordered medium rare and the cook did a good job making it so. Rarely had such an unpleasant dining experience. Was poorly greeted by waitress/bartender who sat us outside on the terrace beautifully over looking the club grounds. The view made us quickly forget the initial bad impression. Minutes later, she came back to take our order; 1 appetizer and 2 different picks from their specialty salads; a calamari salad and a Gilled (chicken) salad. Before leaving, she even read back out loud our order in a very loud tone. Once the food came, it turned out she brought us 2 calamari salads. Once I told her she made a mistake, she confronted me and still put the plate in front of me. I had to insist that it was the wrong order and after a few seconds of argumentative conversation and attitude, she shrugged her shoulder off and walked away with the order. Asked her later for some butter for our bread, which never came. She never apologized nor did we ever see her again at our table. The check was brought to us by another (young and polite) waitress. We asked about what happened to our waitress and about her name (Laura) and why she had not come back. The waitress tried politely to make up excuses but it was very obvious there was no reason but pure rudeness by her fellow waitress.
