We very much enjoyed Eileen's Country Kitchen. Everything was "A" okay. The place was quite full on the day that I attended, yet the hostess was genuinely courteous and respectful. She was right on target with the menus, the water glasses and the food. She returned on occasion to check that everything was fine. The place was well kept, and the bathrooms were clean. The people coming in and out were happily wishing each other and myself a happy new year. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was festive and happy. To my surprise they even had a small band singing and playing music. It seemed to be a neighborhood favorite because everyone was so friendly with one another. And, people were relaxed and chatted cheerfully while they sipped on their coffee and drank at the bar. I will definitely find my way back there again. The servers here are so kind and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. They bake their bread fresh everyday. Their Irish soda bread is an absolute must! I'm a foodie, and wow - this was hands-down the best breakfast experience we've had in a long time. We stopped in after an appointment completely by chance, and now it's officially going to be our weekly breakfast spot. The pancakes and home fries were outstanding - honestly, everything we ordered was delicious. Whoever is back there cooking deserves major praise! Eileens kitchen is a welcome relaxing get away from the hustle and bustle of the area. The bathrooms are clean and it is a spacious location. They have all sorts of items on the menu too. The corned beef on rye was dry but the chipotle chicken sandwich looked delicious. I also got a side of onion rings and they werent bad albeit a little oily. The irish soda bread that comes out to start was good and an authentic addition to the menu. 3 stars is a fair score. read more

Went here for our occasional family's brunch . I found the waiting staff to be very friendly and attentive . Jocelyn was waiting on us and she was very polite ,patient ,graceful & knowledgeable about the menu and the questions we had and we had a lot . For the record, they were quite a few of the staff members that touched on our table, and they all seem to all work together as a team, which to me is the sign of well oiled machine & tells me that the manager or the owner knows what they're doing to get a staff like this together. I thought the food was OK and that's not a negative. There is nothing that I tried on this particular visit that I found outstanding, but I think the service made up for it. Also for me when you go into a bathroom and it's this well kept it tells me something about the establishment and scores a lot of points for me personally . I also think the value of the menu prices were of fair to good value . I also appreciated that there was a mixture of ethnicities dining, not just an all Irish customer base which I think scores extra points . Snuck out for lunch a bit early to come here and dine in. A bit confused when I parked my car, I could not locate the place. It is attached to a sports bar so beware. Super welcoming upon entering and was seated right away. It was pretty busy on Friday morning. The waitress is extremely nice and didn't rush me as I was indecisive on what I wanted. Now to the food, I got the garden omelet with American bacon and French fries. Great portions and the fries were crispy. The veggies were super fresh and the put a great amount of bacon in the omelet. I would give 5 stars but.... It was very pricey for an omelet. I get it egg prices are up but $24 (with tax and tip) for an omelet is not what I was expecting to pay for breakfast. Would def come back tho. Horrible experience! My mom LOVES this place so I made a reservation for her 85th birthday for lunch for the family. 25 people including 7 kids. I confirmed the day before. With emphasis that it was for EILEEN's not the Heritage. 1) I chose Eileen's because it is one of my mom's favorite places, we had a big group and we wanted a quiet place, we alo did NOT want a bar enviroment AT ALL! When we arrivedEilee wa locked for a party at 4. We were set up in the back room. We were crammed in like Sardines, so much so, my nephews back were preed agait te wall oce eated, my mom ad oly oe optio to it at te ed becae e cold walk arod te table, if oe of watedto go talk to another family member, we had to walk out to other room to walk around. The servers had to pass our plates to us to pass around to people sitting on the other side of the room. The owner gave an insincere apology & some free apps but really was not a good experience. My family has been supporting both of these establiments for many years and quiet a few of them drove a very long way on Sunday to be crammed in a hot, noisey room meant for half the amount of people. It was my first time visiting Eileen's Country House restaurant for a private birthday party. Since I was traveling from Queens it took me about 1 hour to reach Woodlawn on a Sunday via the 4 train and a short bus ride. Honestly the commute was not bad. Eileen is located in the Irish neighborhood in Yonkers that's literally filled with bars, restaurants and cafes so with that said it's a lively area. Eileen restaurant has a huge bar and lots of seating areas both inside and outside of the restaurant. They also have a huge private room where you can rent out to celebrate an event/special milestone in your life. I came here for a birthday party and the whole thing lasted about 4 hours or so. We had an open bar, buffet and a DJ, but keep in mind I'm pretty sure you can be creative and customize your party theme as desired. I'm a sucker for their pasta, fried chicken, chicken Parmesan and steamed vegetables. The staff treated us with the utmost respect and attended to all of our needs. First off Buttermilk Pancakes made with bacon grease?!?!? Simply delicious! My friend and I hoped on in here for a quick brunch before heading to a seminar. Place was decently busy but we still managed to get our food within 10minutes. Cute atmosphere dressed up in spring indoors. Definitely reminded me of my times eating in the South. The waitress was both personable and very nice. We had the buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips: delicious. I had the Challah Bread French Toast which was both greasy and tasteful. Excellent and homey feel for breakfast! I usually find a cute little spot to eat breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays; today was Eileen's Country Kitchen. First when you arrive it will read Heritage Bar on the outside, it will NOT look like the pictures from OUTSIDE. When you walk in,go to your right, this is where they get dinged on a star. It is confusing to know if you are in the right spot; but let's suppose you actually venture into the sports bar, and find, you are in fact, in the right spot...You are not greeted by anyone. The hostess landing is in the back of the restaurant. There is no sign or direction... "Please wait, we will be with you shortly" or "Feel free to seat yourself anywhere" would be a great alternative to someone walking in and not being greeted. Now, to the service, once we got the "no welcoming" debacle out of the way, it was smooth sailing. I was told to sit anywhere, and a super friendly waitress took my order, and even helped me to decide. Ughh, it slipped my mind to get her name, but she was fantastic, I will check my receipts and update if it on there. She helped me to choose between the pancakes and French Toast. I ended up ordering the French Toast, turkey bacon, and eggs. EVERYTHING was delicious. A nice hearty breakfast for 18 bucks! The food is great, I was expecting diner food, but this food was cooked with LOVE! I will return. If I wasn't going out of town this weekend, I would be back this upcoming weekend. Expect to see me back soon. Please fix the welcoming issue, this is really a cozy five star place. It really started to kick up around 10am on Sunday, so if you do go, be sure to get there early. As others have stated, the parking is treacherous, but that is Yonkers Ave/ McClean in general, and I know the restaurants can't help that--there is metered parking on the side streets as well, as an FYI. I am guessing there are "usuals" that come there. There was a gentleman shmoozing with a few people, he seemed to be the manager and stopped by a few tables to check in as well. So my best friend lives in Yonkers and we usually go eat in other towns, but we decided to try something different and find a place in Yonkers that has great French toast. After doing some digging on Yelp, I found this place and decided to give it a try. This place has amazing food and a great concept for the seating. Half of the restaurant is a pub style and the other side looks like you are sitting in someone's homey dining room. The food tastes homemade and large portions for great prices. My best friend ordered the French toast and she raves about it all through breakfast. I decided to do a sampling lol and ordered the pancakes and eggs with home fries. The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful and the eggs were made to my liking while the potatoes were seasoned just right. I was so happy we came to this place and we will definitely be back! One thing I wasn't to happy on was how long we had waited to order our food. As soon as we sat down they drool our drink order and gave us our drinks quickly, but then no one came back for like 10min and that is because I had to stop one of the waitresses and asked if we can order. We had several people walk past our table and look at our stacked menus and did nothing about it. So that is why the 3-stars, the food and atmosphere saved this review cause the service wasn't the best. **The parking is terrible, so give yourself 10min to find parking if you have a reservation. read more

Was seated right away and asked if I wanted anything to drink (a mimosa!) which I really appreciated. This was honestly the best mimosa I've had. I think real clementines or oranges were used because the flavor tasted so fresh! I order the steak and eggs which were cooked PERFECTLY. The steak was so savory. I happen to be in the area, so I search Yelp for some restaurants nearby. The awning from the outside does not say Eileen's so be careful not to miss it. Their menu and food is authentic Irish, the place seems family owned and very busy. I ordered the full Irish aka Eggs, sausage, bacon, and home fries. I don't eat pork so I subbed the pork bacon for turkey bacon. They gave me extra bacon to sub for the pork sausage. I also swapped the home fries for corn beef hash. All this was paired with a Cofee Moca. So! Everything was fresh and tasted awesome. The staff is friendly and periodically checked if everything was to your liking. The food was actually quite good (despite the soup arriving a bit disheveled in the bowl) and the service was nice (patrons not so much but they can't pay the price for that). Only reason I'm giving a 3 star rating is because of how long we waited to be seated. We talked to 3 people and waited 15-20 min to be seated, a process that probably would've taken 5 min but they were quite disorganized. It didn't seem as though they had enough servers for a holiday weekend morning so the poor waiters and the incredibly kind cleaning lady Maria had to rush through the process of disinfecting tables and giving us our food. I loved it here at Eileen's. My friend, who lives in the Bronx, and I were looking for a hearty brunch and Ellies hit the spot. On a Sunday morning this place was bustling but we were quickly seated. The menu has all of the brunch all stars: irish breakfast, omelets, steak and eggs, and breakfast burritos. I chose the garden omelet with a side of bacon. My friend is vegetarian and he had an easy time picking the breakfast croissant. The plating is well done and the portions are generous. They have some of the best looking and tasting homefries, and my omelets was light and cheesy. My friend's sandwich was stuffed with egg, cheese and avo and loved that their was a hashbrown in his breakfast croissant. Extra morning potatoes are always welcome. The service here is awesome! I came here because my sister is going to attend College of Mount Saint Vincent in the fall for college in Riverdale. We were looking for some place to get good breakfast and we found this place on yelp. It is a cute little cafe with Irish breakfast specialities. Our waitress name was Aine and she was so sweet. They gave irish soda bread to start. Prices are decent and the cafe is very inviting. I ordered the mclean ave sandwich which came with french fries. So tasty and worth the money. The other side of the cafe is the bar. I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the Yonkers area looking for places to eat. read more

I love this little Irish neighborhood diner. They offer non-pork meats which are always a plus in my book. You feel like you're walking into your grandma's kitchen for brekkie. All the staff welcomes patrons with lovely warm baskets of Soda Bread and butter. The coffee is always on point and their food is fresh prepared. I was here spring/summer of 2014. Came in one beautiful morning on a Saturday just to scope out something new in the hood. I don't recall all the details but here is what I do remember: 1. Waitresses Irish accent. At first I thought was a nice "authentic" touch until I noticed she was just another smug and crappy waitress. 2. I was the only "non-white" person in the whole Restaraunt(until like we were about to leave), which made me uncomfortable, not because I'm hyper aware of this but because it just had this unwelcoming vibe from most people there. (Please don't spit in my food) Chocolate girl walks in with vanilla boy...no no no. 3. Hubs had the silver dollar pancakes, which WERE DELICIOUS... a year and a half later he keeps begging me for us to go back but due to the poor service I refuse to. I don't remember what I had, but it wasn't exciting because I don't remember. 4. Being VERY non Irish I didn't understand half the stuff on the menu (blood sausages???) and God-forbid I ask the miserable terrible waitress. Eileen's is a good choice for breakfast and lunch in the area. I like that you can get nearly anything off the menu like a diner, but it has homier decor. These guys will bang out your eggs and bacon exactly how you want it. Perfect sunny side up, over easy, an omelette that's been "cooked to death - burn it" and it's always made to order. Here's where I get shirty. Westchester magazine gave these guys Best Irish Breakfast and I don't think it's that great. I suspect it's because they cook it up in advance and then throw it on the grill to reheat it. That's the MO in the area. I think Irish Coffee Shop's down the street is marginally better. I might be picky, it might be personal preference, you decide. If you come here and you like the Irish Breakfast, go across the street to Dee's Deli & Cafe and buy yourself a package of sausages and some puddings and rashers. When you cook it up yourself at home, you'll know what it's supposed to taste like. I digress. Service is quick here. I like to get the bacon and American cheese omelette and I think they have excellent home fries. It depends what you like, but they are very tasty lumps of soft potato with small bits of pepper and onions. I have attached pics for people that take their homefries seriously. Just found out this morning that Eileen's is closed. They've been boarded up for a while and I happened to be in Artuso's across the street and asked the staff if they knew what was happening. One of the people said the owner actually owns Heritage as well. They closed Eileen's and expanded Heritage. Too bad because it was always good whenever I've eaten there. read more
