The portion is enormous, too! While I was there, I learned that the Cozy Cottage location we all know and love on Conner Street is no longer open. Instead, they are now operating out of the Sangria Cafe location. Yesterday was their first day of service in the new space, with breakfast and lunch starting at 6:00 a.m. I snapped a photo of the menu and wanted to share it with everyone. I'm sure the industrial area around the old Conner Street location will miss having Cozy Cottage so close by, but this move should make things much more convenient when it comes to parking and accessibility. I get a little fixated on foods I like, so I had honestly been craving that sandwich ever since. 3/14 SECOND VISIT: I decided to come back on March 14 specifically hoping to order the chicken salad sandwich again. It was much busier due to St. Patrick's weekend,I was alone, I was seated in a booth in the back. I was given the dinner menu, so I asked the server about the chicken salad sandwich I had previously ordered. She didn't recognize the sandwich but offered to ask the kitchen after I showed her a photo and the menu from my previous visit. Unfortunately she came back and said they couldn't make it. She suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, but I declined since I'm not really a fan of grilled chicken. I ended up ordering the turkey sandwich and asked for a few modifications (no stuffing or cranberry mayo, just regular mayo on a ciabatta). When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn't turkey. I waited until the server came back and asked her to confirm what meat was on the sandwich. She initially told me it was turkey. After taking it apart & having a few bites I knew it wasn't turkey. I winded up eating the fries and asking for the bill. I decided to show her the inside of the sandwich again and asked her to double check with the kitchen, she returned and confirmed it was actually ham, even though the ticket showed that she ordered turkey. She did offer to remake the sandwich, but it would have taken another 10-15 minutes and at that point I was already over it. I ended up just paying, and leaving. I completely understand that menus change and servers can't memorize every item. I just wish the sandwich had been confirmed with the kitchen sooner when I questioned it the first time. Overall, my first visit was great, and that chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. I just wish the second visit had gone a little smoother.

Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. He finally walks by and goes directly to a register and then says loudly from the register that he's busy and has a lot to do. He'll be right with me. Mind you, he's not at my table saying this he's saying this loudly from the register and everyone hears him. I say nicely, I just wanted to remind you to bring the salad before the entree. I had already told him to do this when he took the order. Don't know if he said the following to make up for being loud and rude but then he says, Well he's the one that has to make it so it will take some time but just know that he is going to get it. I said ok and wondered why he's giving me all this information. Don't Also When he takes the order he doesn't even greet me elderly mom. We wait a long time again as he's walking all the diner. Goes in the kitchen several times and still no salad and then I remember about the parasite stomach virus so I rush toward the counter where the kitchen is to cancel or change the salad by then he's walking out and says loudly you were coming over here to complain right. I just wanted to have a nice brunch with my mom. Another worker who knows me from eating there often came over to ask how I and my mom were doing. I said not so good. I just want a different waiter. I then call over the manager and explained to him what was happening after the waiter brought out the smaller salad. As I'm explaining to him the waiter comes over to that same register as though he's eavesdropping and then he walks over and loudly says so What's happening? What's happening? Talk to me. Talk to me. By then, I'm so frustrated I tell him to back away from the table. My mom is just sitting there like what is going on. I would have gotten up and moved to another table to have a different waiter or waitress, but my mother uses a cane and she moves very slowly. I received no apology from the waiter or the manager but the manager did go over to the waiter and say something to him and then he started speaking in Spanish from there on the waiter was polite as we were getting ready to exit because I did tell him to back away. I did not want to speak to him. I just wanted to finish my meal and enjoy my time with my mom and get out of there. The only reason I rated a 4 star because I truly love going to this diner and have never had this happen before. It's such a family/community diner but that waiter needs serious customer service training or he needs to lose his job because if he stays there they're definitely going to lose more customers. I don't know what his problem was. I remember him waiting on me and my mom several months ago. Maybe he didn't get the tip he wanted. Maybe if you don't tip this guy 30%, he's going to treat you like trash. Concerned customer.
