My husband used to live a block from here when we were dating, and I've spent many a night at the bar - but somehow had NEVER eaten here! We met some friends to cross off our pub pass beer for dinner. We were seated quickly for a weekend which was surprising. Service was as you would expect, I wouldn't call them out as fantastic but they got the job done. My husband got the Cajun pasta and I got a cheeseburger. They were both good food. I wouldn't say out of this world, but higher quality than most chain restaurants. I would definitely eat here again. Great spot in the middle of Soulard for a bite and a beer. And fantastic music! read more

Rude and unaccommodating. Wanted a disassembled Ruben because I was traveling with it and was told they would do this, when they did not I brought it back and was told they didn't have time to mess with a CUSTOMER request. Asked then for corned beef sandwich with bread in the side, again was told they couldn't be bothered to do this. Ended up having to get a meal that wasn't wanted and stop and get the fixings for a Rueben at the grocery store. Why did I come to a restaurant? Will NEVER be back. read more

Delicious food. Huge steak for a great price. Couldn't finish it. Live music was top. Friendly service. Definitely will be back!! read more

McGurk's - Pubs Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

Really nice local neighborhood place with solid service, drink options and food. A local friend pointed in the direction of McGurks and we all ended up loving it. The place was somewhat busy in a couple of the rooms/areas, but as we had a decent sized group we ended up back in one of the other rooms mostly by ourselves. The server was around often enough and took good care of us. I ended up with a chicken sandwich and a couple sides. the potato casserole (or something similar) was incredible.. the sandwich was also awesome. It was raining outside but we took a look at the outdoor area and it looked like a great spot to hang out on a nice day. read more

Came on a beautiful day, the 1st of June. Saturday in the beer garden after a trip to the Soulard market, I was getting New Orleans vibes. The outdoor bars are definitely the place to be. Last time I was here there was just one bar so it's been a while. Had a carbomb and enjoyed the weather and company. Stop in and enjoy yourself. Bartenders are attentive. read more

McGurk's - 6/1/24 - Pubs Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

One of my favorite patios and strangely one of my favorite salads in St. Louis. No real complaints about the sandwiches I've tried, but the southwest chicken salad always hit the best. You can yet the chicken tenders fried or grilled and the ranch dressing has just the right kick. Also appreciate their draft beer list - there's definitely something for everybody here. read more

We've come in several times mainly late night for drinks. Always been a pretty busy bar but cool Irish pub ambiance. We came in earlier around dinner time and were surprised to find many tables and chairs, even around the bar area. We ordered some apps and drinks. Service was good. We ubered there, but I think parking is mainly street parking. - Wings appetizer, 8 count (4.5/5): great flavor, LOTS of sauce which I love. Buffalo flavor definitely hit the spot. Tasted freshly made. - Baked potato skins (4.5/5): also a great appetizer, skins were crispy and not too chewy. Did not taste frozen, which some potato skins tend to. Lots of flavor and perfect for sharing. read more

Would have been 5 stars if not for the terrible food, but I feel 4 is fair given that McGurk's should be treated as a bar and not a place to eat. The good: The Irish band was great and made this place worth coming to. The drinks are reasonably priced and our waitress was attentive and kept checking on us. The bad: Toasted ravioli were def frozen. They had broken corners like the ones you get in the bag at Costco. Pretty tough and dry. The Irish stew was bland and probably reheated from frozen to serve. The bread was super dry. Ok so only one star off because it's my bad for expecting a crazy busy Irish pub to have good or even decent food. It was edible and we didn't get sick...so I guess that's a win. Have dinner then come here for the party. read more

Great food, great service, and great ambiance! Loved the quaint bar! We even had a good Irish band play music! Wonderful experience!

So I went here with friends and family and handed the bouncer my ID. He said he wouldn't take it and started shoving me out (literally)... i was the last one of everyone to try and get in.. it was a reunion with 20 or so of my classmates/friends. My family came in town for the weekend. I'd been coming here for 1-2 yrs now being a student in STL and I just moved into soulard a couple blocks away. With that being said this place has the most beautiful patio and Irish car bomb culture. Had nothing but great experiences here. But.. bouncer that looks like Santa is on one. Went to talk with a manager next day she didn't give af (respect tbh) TLDR- Santa bouncer angry. Things at home make him sad read more

Good service - helpful staff. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp (very good!) and spinach artichoke ravioli (also good) as appetizers. Dinner was a little different. Guinness Stew was good but took a while to come out a d the veg was underdone. Fish and chips was really fish cakes and actual potato chips - best to skip these if you go. The pub is nice and they had live music tonight, so that was nice. Just stick with appetizers or sandwiches if you want to eat. Anything more complex might be a stretch. read more

Great place for great live music, drinks and food. We stopped in after a wedding and they had an Irish duo playing for Halloween. The bartenders were attentive and kept the crowd lively. McGurks has one of the best patios in STL whether you're looking to have a meal or go out at night. I love their homemade chips with a side of ranch for a little afternoon snack. McGurk's might be the perfect bar. The Guinness is always poured correctly and they've perfected bar food. The service is always great. I love their wings and potato skins, but everything on the menu is done well. It's even better when the weather is nice and the patio is open. read more

McGurk's is the perfect spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It is open seating because of the crowds, and we were able to secure a table after a wait. I was not expecting a delicious sandwich because I assumed the kitchen was swamped. My Reuben sandwich was outstanding. The sandwich was stuffed with tender corned beef, and toasted to perfection. Our waitress was attentive and the food was prepared quickly despite the overflowing crowd of St. Pat's partiers. read more

This is the best summer patio spot in Soulard! There are tons of seating options, and I love the fountains and water features. This visit we got drinks and apps. The star appetizer was the spinach artichoke dip - the fried pita it's served with was so delicious, we ended up using them to scoop up the sauces from all other appetizers we ordered. We had a couple issues getting our bills right, but our waitress was great about making sure it all got sorted out quickly. Our food came out fast, and our waitress was very attentive on making sure any refills or extra drinks were brought out quickly. read more

I have been here many times before and every time I come here I feel that it gets bigger and bigger and they keep adding new things to this place. The potato soup is delicious! The service at the outside bar was less than desirable. The 2 bartenders were more interested in each other than serving the bar. They had their backs to us, talking and flirting the entire time. We moved to the bar in the shade and got great service! read more

4 stars with the caveat that we stopped by only for a quick bite and I definitely want to return! The indoor was very cool wooden bar vibes and the outdoor garden with a view of the church across the street was beautiful on a sunny day. The food, I thought, was average, but perhaps hits the spot for a salty, greasy bite to go with beer. The only disappointment was their house irish stout on draft--I'd pass that up and go with Guinness. Definitely will be back to give it another go, though! read more

Let's start with that patio. It's definitely patio season so make sure to grab a cozy spot if you can find one! Everyone working is super nice, polite & helpful. The food you can't go wrong with. McGurk's is a fun hangout spot. They've got like 4 or 5 different bars in the place and the gardens are really nice to look at while you slam shots. I met up with a few girlfriends for drinks and a good time. We hung out at the bar in the back and ordered appetizers which were good. Our drinks were okay, not the best. The only one I really liked was the Long Island. Everything else was either too sweet or just not quite mixed right. Anyway the bartenders were nice. It also gets super crowded with college kids so be prepared for that later in the evening. read more

Beautiful place, and not my first time here. The service was great and there was no wait time to be seated. We ordered draft beer, which was incredibly flat. The food was overpriced and ok, but not that great. The fish and chips were three small pieces (like half pieces) of fish and some potato chips. It was more like a kids meal, and not worth the $16.95 we paid. The potato soup was ok, but nothing fancy. I expected better food quality for the prices charged and this bar's reputation. Sad experience. read more

Great Irish pub in St. Louis! Multiple levels and separated rooms with at least three bars throughout. Apparently the outdoor area is beautiful but we did not check it out during our dinning experience. To put it succinctly - the service was great and the food was delicious! We started with the potato soup bowel which I would certainly recommend and is a good amount to split between two! The spinach artichoke dip was a generous serving so we certainly had to take some home - I'm personally a fan of hard corn chips for this type of dip but the fried pita chips had a crisp exterior and soft interior making for an enjoyable bite. The corned beef reuben was amazing is exactly what you would hope for when coming to an authentic Irish pub! The corned beef dinner looked great as well! The chicken dish had stuffed spinach and cheese inside with some mild heat that made for a delicious dish. The risotto tasted as if some fish-based stock was used and it was delightful. The chicken dish may have been a little out of place in the menu but is a great option for the poultry lover! Will certainly bring others here if in the mood for some Irish food! The 4-hands nitro stout originally brewed for McGurks restaurant is worth a taste for those who are fans of Guinness! read more

Shared with me as a "staple St. Louis Irish pub", it lives up to the hype. They have a great range of food and drinks, super kind service, and an environment like none other. Had lunch on a cold Saturday with a large group. Our waitress did a great job of getting our orders straight and getting our food out at the same time. I had the fish and chips and the fish came out perfectly. I really enjoyed the pub chips. My husband had the hamburger and loved it. I'm kind of wary about ordering a salad in a pub, but my friends' salads looked great! Portion sizes were ample but not overwhelming. It was a good lunch. Was down in STL for a baseball game and decided to stop here on a Friday. My boyfriend said it was his favorite childhood restaurant growing up so i was very excited to try it. Upon arrival we waited about 30min for a table. And it's also important to note that we checked in with the host to see how much longer it would take, and she did mention their iPads were running slow and not updating the list fast enough, but she seated us soon after. We got seated in the patio by the water fountain and it was a beautiful view to enjoy our food. All the plants and trees make it look very whimsical. Our server was also very sweet an attentive. It was clearly very busy that day but she made sure to constantly check on us. We got the Reuben sandwich with potato chips, Ravioli, and spinach and artichoke dip with homemade pita chips. The serving for the Artichoke dip was phenomenal and so cheesy and delicious! Overall a great first experience and I'm happy my boyfriend was able to relive his childhood memories :) read more

So we needed St. Louis to redeem itself after our previous meal. A friend of my brother's recommended this place and it was worth the trip. We tried several apps and the St. Louis favorite of toasted ravioli. I did enjoy that one the best. The spinach and artichoke dip was heavy on the artichoke and needed just a little more salt. The potato skins were okay. The bacon made it worth it. We tried the pasta with the cream sauce and with the tomato sauce. The tomato based one had some spice to it which was a nice surprise. Our friend has a cheeseburger which is one of his go-to selections. We shared the special dessert which was a peanut butter gooey butter cake. I actually really like gooey butter cake but I had never tried it with peanut butter. It also has a strawberry sauce we got on the side. I'll probably never try it again with peanut butter because it just tastes like peanut butter cake to me and I just prefer the taste of the plain butter cake. It wasn't bad. We had the vanilla bean ice cream to wash it down. It came with chocolate syrup which I didn't realize. We would've asked for it to be plain. I'd go back and try some other options if I'm back in St. Louis. Our server was really very kind and accommodating to helping ensure we had a good food experience while we were there. read more

The patio/beer garden at McGurk's is worth a visit in itself. Like for real for real, you gotta go JUST so you can sit in this extraordinary, beautiful, tranquil space.... ESPECIALLY when the weather is beautiful. Order a few ice-cold beers, have a delicious lunch, and take in all of the beauty around you. Let yourself VIBE! If you want a well-executed, juicy burger with crispy edges, this is your spot. If you want super soft, butter-y corned beef that straight-up melts in your mouth, this is your spot. And--surprisingly-- if you want some amazing salads, this is your spot!!! The mixed green salad comes with a garlic vinegarette that literally was to-die for! If someone from McGurks is reading this right now, puh-LEAZE bottle that dressing and sell it so I can stock up for life. McGurks's inside space is also super HUGE and very-much the authentic Irish pub of your dreams. Really cool to even walk through and look at everything. Dark furniture, Irish decor, lots of room to dance and enjoy the Irish bands that come through. I ordered the corned beef sandwich, and it was good, but perhaps a bit forgettable. I asked for no butter on the bread, but still received butter on my bread.... and a lot of it, which made the sandwich too greasy for my personal preference. Also, *I* am not usually a fried seafood person, BUT if YOU are, then I would definitely recommend you to try the fish 'n chips. This meal is NEVER appealing to me, but I seriously couldn't stop oogling over every plate that passed by. Tons of folks were there for that dish, and I could see why. It looked absolutely outstanding. I'll definitely be back for the patio ambiance, and I'll definitely swing by when they have the Irish bands back in the future! read more

Service is never 100% amazing but they're always so busy so I understand why! The chicken fingers are my favorite ever I compare every other place to theirs I got onion rings this time but I highly recommend their homemade chips instead.
