I was not looking for anything fancy but this place has a good home town feel to it, with friendly and helpful staff both bartenders/ waiters who work well together ! I had the McDuff's Pepperoni Pizza and enjoyed several IPA's from their many draft options. I would recommend trying them out for a nice casual meal and hangout. read more

I was on my to Ottawa from Brooklyn. The service was excellent. Extremely friendly bar staff. The food was very fresh and served hot. A very nice variation of food. My wife and I there when we were visiting Clarkson. It was the middle of the afternoon on Saturday and we were the only people there. Nice place with a large bar and it was clean which is always a pleasant surprise. Two bartenders on duty that were super pleasant to talk to. Pleasantly surprised. We started with nachos. My family said they were awesome. Loaded with guacamole, sour cream, beans, tomatoes , and chicken and cheese. We also had a couple beers. I had a blue moon and my husband had a local brew that he really enjoyed. My daughter had a spicy chicken stuffed grilled cheese sandwich with an arugula salad. She was on cloud 9. My husband and son said their burgers were really good. (A little too well done but that happens sometimes.) I had a roast beef au jus and they topped it with mushrooms. Really good. And the fries were great. Thick cut skin on and crispy. The waitstaff was really friendly. I would come here again the next time we visit my son at college. read more

We continue to go here and found that they had a new menu and a new chef. I always like the black bean burger so I was apprehensive about trying this new vegetarian burger. The new black bean burger is better than the old black bean burger which is hard to believe... It has a beet catchup that is out of this world. The Cobb salad still is the bomb and they still have great cold beers on tap. Good service too! read more

Cute little bar on the main drag of Potsdam. Late evenings often has music or a band playing. The grilled cheese there is insanely good; they even have a grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with mac and cheese; it's like stuffing comfort food with comfort food! The bathrooms are a bit cramped though and one of the stalls in the women's bathroom is missing a panel on its door, which is extremely disconcerting. I'd give it four stars otherwise, but that panel really needs to be fixed! read more

An old guard dive bar that has been upgraded with decent TVs and a better beer/liquor selection than you'd expect. Plenty of dartboards and a pool table. Basement has a greasy DJ booth/dance area that is popular when students are in town. They've even added a "cocktail menu" but I'd recommend sticking to beers or mixed drinks. They do serve food and it is actually pretty good for bar food, I've had the wings a couple times and they exceeded my expectations. Bear in mind that the crowd in this place will be very different on popular college bar nights (Thurs-Sat) than at all other times. At the end of the day, this is a dive bar which has compromised/upgraded on a few areas to better cater to the college crowd, and with that compromise it doesn't do anything all that great. read more

The staff is always friendly and the down east cider and cran mango cider are both seriously so good. Also, the inside is really nice, I love the wooden tables and decor. Wow! New Duff's is great- renouned bartender Dave Riley' signature "Dave's Dick in the Dirt" is one of Potsdam's greatest treasures. Great staff, great food & great selection of beer. Nick's grilled cheese(Mac&cheese grilled cheese), duck poutine, and the Jameson honey garlic wings are some of my faves. NOT TO MENTION the homemade salad dressings & homemade blue cheese. A college hangout bar, and of recently, teenage club since they went 18+. The inside is typical dive bar...filthy sticky carpet, beer signs and a few tables off in the corner. This place is open for lunch and dinner but both times I was there the place was deserted, not hard to see why. One time tried their "famous" wings, which were small, greasy, and coated in what tasted like a mixture of kraft bbq sauce and cheap whiskey. Gross. Next time tried one of their burgers which was equally terrible. Beef was overcooked, dry, and flavorless. The bun was hard as a rock....and it cost $10. Somehow they royally screwed up even the most basic bar food. Both times the draft beer was warm and had that skunky taste that tells you the taps are rarely if ever cleaned. When confronted about the warm beer the bartender offered to pour another..which was equally warm. Service was slow and employees were milling about freely pouring drinks from the bar. OK, everyone goes here to party I get it. Theres a bar upstairs and a smaller one downstairs in the party room. Good thing its dark down there so nobody notices the exposed wiring hanging off the ceiling and overall nasty atmosphere. They fail at even being an underage low rent party...the sound system has waaaaay too much bass and sounds like crap. The beers are warm and the drinks watery... The bartender was putting about a 1 count pour in, if that on the basic mixed drinks offered. There was no perceptible taste of alcohol whatsoever in my ice,coke, and dash of rum. Theres really no redeeming factor. The place is a dump even by dive bar standards, the food is awful and overpriced, and the nightime "club" scene is flat out gross....go watch girls that have a fake just to be 18 grind on frat boys and sometimes the sketchy looking businessman who wanders in wearing a tie... hoping to take one back to his place in that pimp 5 year old Chevy Cobalt he parks across the street, swigging back warm $3 bottles of coors light. Sound like your kind of place? Me neither. Should be called McJailbait's. Figure they pour the drinks so weak so the 16 year olds theyre being bought for dont stumble out drunk and get the place busted by the popo car that drives by every 30 seconds. Skip. The waitress brought out our wings, and then asked if we wanted blue cheese or ranch for dipping, not mentioning there would be an additional up charge for two tbsp of dressing of an additional buck. Check out the menu and make your decision - the food is hot and delicious. Hand-cut fries as sides or alone- Plump Chicken wings , oh so good . My favorite was the Grilled Cheese ( with macaroni and cheese inside, no kidding) but then I tried the Chicken Sandwich with the cheese and mushrooms and bacon and OH MY Goodness -I love them both ! The Price is right too. If you are a drinker and enjoy a Happy Hour--- happy hours abound in this place - Like to dance - DJ in the club downstairs - Something for everyone . My family and I just went for dinner. The server was lovely, but the meal was not what we expected. It looked great, but had absolutely no flavor. My son and I ordered the Mcduff burgers, and there was no salt or pepper or any seasoning to speak of. Even the bacon in the burger was flavorless. The "pickle" on top of the burger was a cucumber half (again flavorless). My other son and husband said their French fries were raw. We ate the burgers because we were starved, and picked around the raw fries. I did not enjoy my meal, and will not be going back again. read more
