I go to this McDonald's every day for my break for lunch. It is in the basement. This is one of them McDonald's that it's very stingy with the fries and sauce . Flatten out the fry container to put less fries in there .Seems like they're trying to cut cost with the sauce and skimp on fries among other things .they try to charge you for everything. While there are steps going downstairs, the ADA entrance was clearly marked and easy to locate and access. It Mcworks. Being close to the zoo, it can also be a zoo. Just grateful this morning, to get a day off for chilling. Always stop here before a day at the zoo. It's busy but that's the area. As for how it works it does, and the employees are super nice. After that commuter train and metro need to relax a few. Plus feed the caffeine addiction. This is good for that. This one's a bit unusual that you go downstairs. As for cleanliness quite good . Like many other fast food restaurants, inflation plus DC taxes are what they are. These poor reviews are ridiculous. This McDonald's is one of the best. It is always extremely clean, the staff is wonderful, kind, and competent, and the food always tastes fresh. The fries are never soggy and always well salted. The fountain soda is not watered down and perfectly effervescent. The burgers are never smooshed and have the appropriate toppings. The nuggets are always crisp but not over cooked. To have such consistency at the volume of customers they have (near the zoo and next to the metro) is a feat. No, there's not a drive-thru, but most city McDonald's don't have one. I have to mention the staff again. They are so professional and clearly take pride in their jobs. I haven't found the same at other locations. Order ahead on the app if you're worried about waiting too long for your food. read more

Came here for a quick, inexpensive brekkie. The $2 sausage egg muffin was a perfect solution, but the lack of complimentary water miffed me, exacerbated by misinformation from staff. The staff who took my order, when I asked for a cup of water, pointed to the soda machine and said "you can get it over there." Seeing there's no cups or water where the staff had pointed, I asked another staff when picking up my order, and was told they don't have water and that they only have bottled water. I went there on 1/16 and ordered a quarter pounder and fires via the kiosk. After waiting for 10 minutes my had not provided. I went to the counter and was told that the kiosk orders take longer and that I would need to wait. Busy basement level McDonald's on Connecticut Avenue near my hotel in Washington D.C. In town for a week - only one visit to McDonald's, and that's because my kids forced the visit on a cold and wet Monday. I hate to give 4 stars, but this particular McDonald's over performed on this particular visit. I ordered 4 Happy Meals - 2 with chicken nuggets and 2 with cheeseburgers - a separate 10 piece chicken nugget meal, and a Southwest burger combo meal. Pour your own drinks - which I did. Cashier offered me a soda carrier for them. As for the meals, the Happy Meals had both french fries and Go-Gurt, when it's normally one or the other. Plenty of condiments and napkins in my bag. Polite and friendly service. Fast moving line and fast completion of my order upon placing it. No issues, with the exception of a couple of homeless individuals outside the upstairs door. William E. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, and accepted that we've decided to eat meal loaded with fat, grease and calories, let's evaluate the quality of said unhealthy meal. First of all, this place is clean and they keep non-customers away. Now, the service may be a bit on the slow side, but it's because they appear to make the food to order (aka it's hot). That's a good thing! When you're eating things you shouldn't, you want it to count, so the food should be hot. Also, the condiments (with cups and lids), napkins, straws, etc., are all still self-serve, a growing rarity in DC. I appreciate that as well. What can I say? It's a pretty average McDonald's in most respects. But I will mention some locational idiosyncracies. The McDonald's is in a basement below the CVS. Although there is an elevator somewhere, most of the many families and their strollers that use this particular McDonald's as basecamp before their trek to the National Zoo always have trouble finding it and end up clogging the stairs. read more

This may be the first time I have given a McDonald's four stars but I have a good reason. It is right next to the Metro, it retains the dollar menu (a lot of stores close to major attractions inflate prices) and the service is actually very good. It is located in the basement of I believe a dentist office or something but the odd location actually makes the place that much more interesting. There is remarkably a decent amount of seating considering this is a mini-location tucked underground. Save yourself a lot of money and just head over here from the Zoo to avoid overpriced Zoo food (don't worry its a downhill walk). read more

I emailed the corporate office about the restroom issue and they responded saying that there is a problem with homeless people and others causing vandalism in the restrooms, thus the reasoning for paying. They said that customers who purchase food items can obtain a key from an employee to enter without having to pay. Good to know for next time. Needed a place to grab a quick bite to eat and rest for a few moments after an epic trek involving trains, cabs, buses, and lots of walking. Alas, this place turned out to be the site of quite possibly the most lackadaisical McD's employee I've seen in my long experience with McD's locations across the country. I specifically ordered a medium frozen strawberry lemonade, but somehow that got inputted into the system as a large smoothie of some kind. When I mentioned this to the guy behind the counter, he said "It's the same price." I mentioned how that was clearly not the case ($1+ difference), but at this point he had moseyed away to ignore me by becoming fascinated with a fly on the wall. Ended up with the cheaper lemonade at the price of the smoothie. When my order was finally ready, the same dude tried to dump it off on me and break away, but I asked him for a sauce, which elicited a deep sigh. In response to my thank you for his efforts, he just rolled his eyes. I know he may have been having a bad day, but overcharging customers and then acting like a jerk is a bit too much. Sandwich was horrible - in the past the "Southern Style" chicken sandwiches meant that there was a bit of frying going on, but this tasted like they took a grilled chicken patty and added bread crumbs to it. My family and I decided to stop in to redeem fries with a survey coupon- the same surveys that are printed on McDonald's receipts across the country. Not only were we told that our coupons were not redeemable there (even though a quick call to corporate proved otherwise), not only were we laughed at by the lady behind the counter, not only were we ignored by the employees when we asked to speak to the manager, but we also had the police called on us. On Memorial Day I had to go to Kennedy Center. Since I was near the Woodley Park Metro, I stopped in here before that to grab a quick snack around 5:45 Pm. I ordered the spicy McChicken sandwich, nothing else. For some reason this took a while. After 10 minutes I was asked what I was waiting for. After the person asked me the question he went to the kitchen to see what was taking so long. I got my sandwich about 5 minutes after that.
