I came here earlier today and got some cool lunch. A colleague from work had previously ordered balsamic chicken greens with grain salad, and it motivated me to come here and get one for myself. It basically consisted of romaine lettuce, as well as, mixed greens, and a whole bunch of vegetables. The grilled chicken was white meat, and I could tell that they prepared the grilled chicken today. My salad also had avocados and feta cheese, which made it even more delicious. The restaurant was pretty busy and it seemed like most of the people who work around the area come here for lunch. The had plenty of workers preparing food, so I didn't wait long. There was also a large group of teenagers in the back section, and they were a little loud. I took my salad with me to go, and I headed right back to the office. It was an awesome salad! read more

I haven't been to Panera in a while, but I had a craving so I went out of my way to visit. I was excited to see the little kiosk that allowed me to skip the line. Unfortunately, the kiosk wouldn't accept my Panera gift card. I ordered a broccoli and cheddar bread bowl with chips. The soup was delicious as always but the bread bowl was a bit of a bust. They didn't properly cut out the center of the bread bowl so my soup only had about a half inch divot to sit in so I had to pull out the bread manually. I also didn't get my chips which I was looking forward to as an afternoon snack. It always sucks when you get your food to go an there is something missing. It's become our routine to stop for a soufflé at a Panera before we drive out of town. This is the 2nd time I've been to this location and both times, they didn't have any soufflés. Today, it was because they were still cooking it and it would take another 10 mins. In a rush to get on the road and starving, I order the next thing that looks good on the menu - a steak and egg breakfast sandwich. I wouldn't have given this place such a poor review except that employees were yapping away about their social lives while several of us were waiting for our orders ... I saw a sandwich waiting on the food counter for a dine in customer but knew I had ordered mine to go. After a few more minutes of waiting, and having learned about the employees' weekend plans inadvertently from their loud conversations, I ask about my order. Turns out that the sandwich sitting on the counter, getting cold, was mine. Again, even after realizing they had not packed up my order correctly, they take their precious time as they continue to talk amongst themselves. Just stopped here for a quick muffin and an iced coffee before I headed to a nearby meeting. There wasn't too much of a line around 8 am on a weekday and it moved very quickly. Iced coffee was fine but the setup is a bit odd since you serve yourself but the iced coffee/sugar are located across the restaurant from the milk/cream so it was a bit confusing. The muffin was oddly a bit hard/stale even that early in the morning so not sure what's up with that. There's little one can say about a chain, but this is a very welcome addition to Tenleytown, where the many students now have a fairly healthy and affordable option to add to the pizza and Chinese joints in the area. Especially with the fairly new Tenleytown Library across the street, I like how the Tenleytown area is shaping up. It's super cold in here, so bring a sweater or cardigan if you're planning to park yourself here for a study session. I also had some trouble picking up a 3G signal in the rear end of the restaurant, so sit in the front if you're a Verizon user. They do have free wireless, but I kept getting kicked out of the connection on my phone and needed to reconnect every time my phone dozed off. read more

I did not feel safe today. First, they have removed the option for ordering from your table. This meant that if i wanted to eat outside I would have to go in or order takeout, wasting packaging. I find that most Panera's are terribly run -- there are so many errors with orders not to mention they are never ready when they promise. At this Panera in Tenleytown today I placed an online order for 10 sandwiches. So i have my online receipt via email confirming the exact order and time. The order said it would take one hour, so I show up at the designated time and they simply tell me they didn't get the order, i show them the email with confirmation but still I'm given a shoulder shrug. They tell me it will take ten minutes to prepare but I have an Uber waiting outside so I say I have to go and they'll deliver it. Mid-delivery they call to say, God knows why, that 80% of the order had actually already been made but they didn't have the right bread for the rest. Why they wouldn't call when they ran out of the right bread during preparation, why they don't communicate to managers there's a problem with an order so that one doesn't leave empty-handed is baffling. Whatever you think about Starbucks, the efficiency and customer-service is a million times better. read more

Ok, where normally this Panera is pretty on point I experienced something is worth mentioning. I personally love the treatment I get when I visit this place. I do I quite frequently because it is across the street from my place of work. However, today the person making my order selected 'dine in' instead of 'carry out'. This is a simple fix, no problem and definitely not why I am leaving a review. It seems that she came over to assist with the food distribution then noticed and tried to fix it. The lead cook/ food technician kept harping on her mistake while I was standing there. Not once twice but three times, and made the lady who took my order visibly uncomfortable along with myself. That was very unprofessional and it almost made me want to dine in just to stop the comments. I have been very happy with service up until today... still a great place but that has to stop. I came in for breakfast to eat in this morning. I normally get my food to go as I work across the street. The food is usually decent although not always consistent. However, I ate in the dining room since I was early for work. The line manager this morning was so rude to his staff in the kitchen. I was there at approximately 1030AM for about 45 minutes, and he was loudly yelling to ask his line cook why there was so many eggs being cooked. He then screamed he was going to take out the cost of his eggs of his paycheck. I also heard him loudly chastising him for other things as well. Clearly, he was learning, or the manager is a poor teacher (or both). His interactions the entire time I was in the cafe was loud, overbearing and unnecessary. It was very disheartening to listen to people being treated like that, and it was clean the other patrons were bothered as well. I felt bad for the line cook. I used to eat here a few times a week. Now it seems like something always goes wrong with my order and/or I have to deal with awful customer service just to get my overpriced food out the door. Because of this, I have vowed not to spend another dollar here and have been telling all my coworkers in the neighborhood about why they should do the same. One night after walking to panera in the pouring rain and having my sandwich missing most ingredients, I finally got my order that was supposed to be right. I walked up to the pick up counter to get my food and check the sandwich. Right after I walked up to the counter and started checking my food, I was asked to move by an associated on the floor. I figured she needed to just get around me, so I got even closer to the counter so she could move around me (there wasn't anything or anyone behind me). She just kept staring at me and then asked me again to move because she needed the entire counter for who knows what. What?!?!?!? It's more than 4 feet long....why can't I use a small portion of that to double check the accuracy of my previously messed up order?!?! There wasn't even anything else on the counter besides my sandwich. Whenever I've asked to talk to a manager about the experiences I've had, it often takes 15+ minutes for an associate to find one to talk to me. They've been just dandy at addressing the situations or refunding my money, but waiting 15+ minutes over a situation I'm already mad about really doesn't help the situation. The final straw was another time when my sandwich was really messed up and I asked for it to be redone. An associated named Tanya began derogatorily talking about me with profanity behind the counter - loudly enough that I could hear it word for word.
