This restaurant is aesthetically beautiful on both the outside and inside. Brick exterior at the entrance, surrounded by numerous outdoor tables. The inside is also stunning and gives an upscale diner vibe. It's bright with lots of windows, open and has plants. I got the Body count sandwich on a French toast bagel - the bagel was recommended by the staff, I believe his name was Frank. He was helpful, friendly and recommended this sandwich which did not disappoint. Food came out fairly quick. I also got an iced chai latte. The latte was refreshing. The body count came with ham, sausage, AND bacon plus scrambled eggs, apricot jam and American cheese. The combination of flavors melded together so beautifully and kept me full well into the afternoon. I'm definitely looking forward to going back!

We sat down while waiting for our sandwiches to be ready and they kicked us of our seats while the restaurant was maybe at quarter capacity, and took back our waters. I had questions because it was my first time getting actual food there and most of the people at the register seemed irritated and upset about me inquiring. But something was different when I went in the other day because all that completely changed. Thanks to Chi Chi and Rell (there was also another guy there with glasses whose name I didn't get)! But they were the BEST! The best customer service I've had there since I started going. First off as soon as I walked in Chi Chi greeted me with the biggest smile and positive welcomed energy! I was shocked because no one EVER speaks when I go in, so that was really refreshing! She's was so nice and sweet and patient with me and all the other guest! I placed my order and Rell took care of it. I usually have a few modifications with my sandwich and for most of the other employees that seems to be a problem or bring extreme frustration. Rell didn't have a problem at all! Usually it's a lot of eye rolling and deep breaths, and it'll be over something small like asking for sub roll instead of regular bread. So it was nice to order my food and not get attitude from staff for how I want to eat my food. I feel like as long as Rell and Chi Chi are there the vibes are going to VIBE!! The food was moving out quick. The place felt and looked clean. They had no problem answering the questions I had about the shop and what they sold. Shout out to them forreal because I was prepared to leave a not so pleasant review about my experience but I'm glad they changed that because I'll definitely be back more often than not! Thanks Chi Chi and Rell, not only providing great customer service but just for being a vibe!

Today we all got the family sized meat lover pizza that included several types of meat toppings. Here a few that I know of- pepperoni, sausage, ham, and Italian Sausage. I'd like to review this better, but when you have to take into account service and atmosphere, I…read morejust can't. Not even close. After so many great reviews, we tried it while in DC and are glad others had a better experience than we did. This Jewish-owned kosher burger joint was a refreshing treat from any franchise place we refuse to eat at while on vacation. This place is small and not great for big parties from what I could tell. Mostly four-top and two-top tables. We sat at the bar so we could sit immediately, and that's where our experience started. I can't prove it, but I feel like the bartender either got called into work or isn't used to bartending under the pressure of a full house. He had zero interest in serving us and felt like every request was like asking a middle schooler. He had to clear some papers for us to sit, and that was clearly very inconvenient for him. SOMEWHAT in his defense, it was very busy, and he was filling orders the whole visit but could have at least said "bear with me," and we would have extended all the empathy in the world. We ended up ordering two burgers since that's what we were there for. The Hickory burger was cooked well on a brioche bun and included brisket on top. The brisket was a bit greasy, but the burger was cooked great and overall was great! We also ordered a California burger that had avocado (I believe) and a house-made (I think) Thousand Island. Fries were typical and fine, but we weren't even offered dessert. At the end of the day, I can understand people have bad days, and I know Char Bar has more great reviews than bad ones, but I'll skip it next time in DC and go the extra block to Founding Fathers.

We had heard that Char Bar had changed chefs and revamped their menu, and were curious to see the changes. I am happy to report that Char Bar is much improved, going from a place where I wouldn't want to go to a solid restaurant. We were seated immediately at our scheduled reservation time, and the service was phenomenal all evening (the biggest surprise). Our food came out quickly and our server conveyed our requested dish modifications to the kitchen. The ambiance even improved-nothing spectacular, but still cleaner and neater than a couple years ago. We each got the Yemenite chicken soup, which was fine. The cost and portion size was reasonable, and onions provided a good crunch. The matza ball was a bit heavy and the soup became a little bland towards the end. However, there was a good amount of chicken and vegetables, and crucially, the soup wasn't too salty. We shared the brisket nachos and the mixed grill for our mains. The brisket was perfectly cooked, shredded, and juicy, and full of flavor. The chips were crunchy, and the guac and salsa added a nice fresh element. Char Bar was out of lamb for the mixed grill, so we got steak as a replacement. The steak was delicious and cooked well, although it could have used more sauce. The vegetables were nicely grilled and flavorful. I thought the merguez was OK but not great. The chicken was dry and badly needed a sauce and/or more moisture. I would recommend Char Bar if you are looking for a solid night out at a kosher meat restaurant.

Unlike most other coffee shops, they also have full service for folks who are dining in, so you can order from the QR code on your table instead of at the counter, and they'll bring your order out to you. I visited Bluestone around 4 PM in the afternoon, so it was a bit too late for coffee, but I love that they offer a wide selection of non-coffee drinks. I got their golden latte, which includes turmeric, almond milk, and a few other spices; it feels warm (both literally and figuratively) and is a lovely caffeine-free drink that helps me feel healthy as the weather gets colder. And to counterbalance any potential health benefits I might have gotten from the golden latte, I also got their chocolate chip cookie, which was massive -- almost the size of the plate they served it on. It was a solid cookie, slightly chewy but with a nice crust, although it was a bit lacking in chocolate chips. Bluestone is undoubtedly a rather pricey cafe, but I do love how quiet it is, so I'm sure I'll be making another visit the next time I need to be super productive.
