I wish I'd read the reviews before going in. The McDonald's brand is entirely built on consistency; customers should get the same Golden Arches experience no matter where they dine. I'd never been to this location before yesterday, but there was nothing consistent about it. The outside was completely trashed. Large boxes of food were left stacked at the back door unattended. The drive-thru was jam packed, so we went inside. There was literally one family inside and the rest of the place was empty. Trash was spilling out of the trash cans, the tables and floors were filthy, and the soft drink and condiment area was disgusting, covered with spilled drinks, trash, and food waste. I nearly turned around and left without ordering.
Behind the counter and in the kitchen I counted at least 10 employees who appeared to be in a state of mass confusion. Not a single one of them looked up, said hello, or acknowledged our presence in any way. After standing there for a minute, a teenage girl came over to the cash register and began telling us how chaotic it was behind the counter. It was an incredibly odd situation considering the entire restaurant was nearly empty except the drive-thru.
In looking behind the counter, many of the kids appeared confused and some of them were just standing around socializing loudly. It was like a bad high school movie combined with Lord of the Flies set in the dirtiest Mickey D's I've ever seen.
I hope the soft serve machine actually WAS broken (as mentioned in other reviews). It was the filthiest, most disgusting soft serve machine I've seen and looked like a health hazard. A quick check of the Riverside County Dept. of Environmental Health reveals there has been no recent inspection (http://restaurantgrading.rivcoeh.org/Results.aspx?Fac=%25Mcdonald%25&Street=%25Temecula%25&City=Temecula%25). The other McDonald's on Temecula Parkway scored a 97 in their last inspection. Why isn't RCDOEH on top of this place???
I gave this McDonald's two stars only because the facility itself is nice: it's conveniently located and very nicely decorated. It also has a playground. Some affluent franchisee obviously dumped a ton of cash into it. But they seemingly have no clue how to properly staff and manage the place to create a clean, healthy, satisfying guest experience.
McDonald's founder Ray Kroc once said, "If I had a brick for every time I've repeated the phrase QSC and V (Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value), I think I'd probably be able to bridge the Atlantic Ocean with them." The late business icon would be mortified by the blatant disregard for quality, service, and cleanliness at this location. If they had bricks that represented their commitment to these qualities, they wouldn't even cross Temecula Creek. My advice: look elsewhere until management gets this place under control and the health inspector pays a visit. read more
