Soooo....went to McDonald's leander.....they gave me the wrong order. So I took it inside and told them. Theu said thank you,rolled it back up, and then ran it out to the correct man.....wtf. I was always told when that happens start over ,make new food,toss the old food and run it out. I was floored especially since we are in a pandemic .never going there again. Well, it's a McDonald's, so there's not too much to say because we have all been to plenty of McD's. Here what sets this one apart: -Nice, big play area. There are quite a few tables in the separate play area, so parents can sit close to their playing kids. The play area is pretty self contained, so the kids are safe inside. Lots of fun play stuff that burns lots of energy, which is why we go. There is also a separate family bathroom, with a changing table, inside the play area, so you don't have to trek through the resturant for potty breaks. -The drive thru is usually pretty fast, unless you hit it during peak times and then it is slow as all get out. Leander really only has this McD's and a Taco Bell for drive thru place in this area, so they really get crowded at regular lunch/dinner times. -Always check your order from this place. It seems to have a 50/50 shot at getting it correct. The big stuff is usually correct, but the smaller stuff like the sides or extras are usually the items that go missing. Overall, it is an ok McD's. Nothing special but not bad either. read more

It's McD's. I'm rating this on being McD's. Not comparing it to anything other than what it is......McD's. The staff has always been friendly and kind. I don't think they have ever messed up an order. Our food has also been hot and fresh (on a McD's level). My son loves the video games at the tables here. There is also a good playscape. I am not giving it a 5 start because sometimes it's a little "unkept". It's always hopping busy here, which explains it. Never a dirty feeling, but just like they could use some extra help in the dining areas keeping it all picked up and wiped down. That's all I'm going to say about that. Thanks McD's!! read more

Went through drive up (183 S, Leander) and when I pulled up to get my food, I believe she might have been one of the managers, her mask was hanging off. In front of the window, she lifted her shirt slightly so her tummy was exposed and then started to scratch it. I find this tacky given she is in the restaurant industry. What used to be a nice McDonalds is now awful! A rude Hispanic lady brought over our order without drinks or even cups for them and told me I could get the drinks "over there". My order contained 2 EMD drinks and a child's bottled water. I had to go stand in line and finally yelled at someone to give me the cups and water I had paid for. No ice in the soda dispensers. Then I went looking for ketchup and the staff was busy huddled up talking to each other. I finally spoke loud enough to get someone's attention. The manager needs to be fired along with at least half of the staff. Won't be going back there again! I would give it 0 stars if I could. read more

This is one of the fancy locations with no cashiers. That means they have found a way to hire even less qualified employees. Now you only have to talk to someone when there is an issue, but be ready for the experience of communicating with a 6 year old. Order a juice box, doesn't come out with the food. Ask about it and I told customers get their own drinks... the juice boxes are behind the counter... they repeat the answer and I proceed to walk behind the counter and help myself. I almost gave a 2nd star for the self-ordering model. For years when I would order hot mustard, I always got honey mustard. I've lived in Leander before McDonald's ever opened and I don't know if they hired new workers there but they all seem to half a$$ my order almost every I go. They either mess up the order or when I repeatedly say ask for something, I still never get it. Also this past time I went (which is why I'm writing this review) the car ahead paid with a card rather than cash, which is weird because the lady told me that they were only accepting cash. Idk if it was because it was late and she didn't feel like accepting my card but I find it ridiculous that they told me just after the first car that paid with a credit/debit card that they couldn't take my card. Some of you may wonder why I am wasting my time writing a review about a national fast food chain... well normally I wouldn't but 1 person I encountered gave me a reason to last night. I live in Leander (BFE of NW Austin). It's 10 minutes until midnight - I realize I lost track of time and forgot to eat - stomach is really grumbling. McDonald's is my last resort without driving 10 miles further in - normally it doesn't suck it's just not what I would have typically eaten if I had remembered to put substance in my belly during normal hours. So I drive the mile down to the 24 hour Mickey D's... I placed my order - the guy says drive to the last window - and once I pull up to the last window - I immediately go from "Yay, I'm eating" to "WTF was I thinking?" The girl at the window from the minute she took my money treated me like I pulled up 5 minutes before they were closing. She seemed extremely agitated I was there. I had to sit in the drive through a little longer than expected because after she handed me my bag of food, without a word, she shut the window. So I waited... she finally came back with "what?" - Uh... can I get a straw and.... (**window shut again**) She comes back and quickly sort of tosses a straw and I try to say--- Can I ge.....(**window shuts again**) so wait... a few seconds go by and she glances over, sees me looking at her, and walks out of sight - by now I should have left but it has turned into sort of a challenge/game for me. I WILL WIN So she comes back... "yeah?" - Um could I please get some napkins and Ketc....(**window closes again**) - I look back in my rear view mirror and see I have a line of cars behind me now. She reappears with napkins - KETCH......(**window closes**) Ok now I am at the "F*%$ ME" point. Because the things I am asking for are normally already in the bag... So I just start talking to the closed window using the voice of Milton (the stapler guy from Office Space) "And yes, I won't be leaving a tip, 'cause I could... I could shut this whole resort down. Sir? I'll take my traveler's checks to a competing resort. I could write a letter to your board of tourism and I could have this place condemned. I could put... I could put... strychnine in the guacamole. There was salt on the glass, BIG grains of salt." ... Here she comes - uh oh - as soon as she starts to open the window I cut her off "KETCHUP please!" - She disappears and comes back with so much ketchup the packets can't stay in her hands and a lot of it falls to the pavement... Oh good lord child - if you hate this job so much go find something else... no one is making you work here - but up until I met you I was happy there were local citizens like yourself who were willing to work through the night to provide food to those who needed a late meal on a weekend night. Worst McD's around. We used to go there once a week after my daughters Volleyball practice for a few months, before I decided I can't take it anymore. The people behind the counter are most of the times grumpy to downright rude and not one time in all those times we went, there wasn't something missing from our order. Terrible idea to go to this location, especially if you're a vegetarian. They peeled the meat off the meat-free burger my kid ordered with his happy meal. If that's not gross enough, the person at the counter laughed in my face when I took it back to the counter to ask them to make it without meat. I used to think the Mickey D's on Burnet was the worst. Ha ha, the one, just a wee way up the road from my house has debunked Burnet and become the worse Mickey D's. I don't do a whole lotta Mickey D's but my husband does. This location gets the order right about 1 in 5 times. Ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit for breakfast one morning and got a McGriddle sandwich... what the... I cannot stand maple flavored stuff (fake and bad no less) on eggs and cheese. Hubby went their one evening when he was ravenous. He placed his order and waited for his take out. Three other groups came in and got their orders. He decided to walk over to the counter to investigate and literally saw the manager throw away his receipt. My husband said, "hey" and the manager pretty much brushed him off. Hubby dumped his soda into the trash and walked out without his food. They should take many a lessons from the Taco Bell next door. They get orders right, service is fast, and friendly. read more

I ordered a shake around 1:30am, late night craving. Some caramel had dripped onto the outside of the cup, so instead of being a normal worker and getting a napkin to solve this problem, The guy at the window swipes it up with his fingers, licks them, then hands my my shake. I was in shock and didnt know what to do or say, so I left and decided to never go back for any late night cravings. The night shift sucks. I recently moved nearby, and have been here a total of three times, all three times for a snack-sized Oreo McFlurry (the heart wants what the heart wants). First time, I got soft serve with Oreo crumbles on top, not mixed at all and with no special McFlurry spoon. Second time, I got a McFlurry as it should be: special spoon, mixed in, the total package. Hooray! Third time, this morning (I work nights, 7:30a is my dessert hour), I ordered and was told, "ok, anything else?" I said, "no thank you," and the response was "hold on a second." She came back on the speaker and said the ice cream machine was being cleaned. The end. No offer of apology for the inconvenience, coupon to come back, offer to let me wait, nothing. I get it, the ice cream machine is a pain to deal with, but it is your job, and I just got off a 12 and really want a treat! I'll probably stop elsewhere for my occasional treat if I have another bad experience... I mean hitting .333 in baseball is pretty great, but for a restaurant, it's not stellar. I rather drive out of Leander to find better customer service then this McDonald's, I LITERALLY told the speaker guy I wanted three combo meals ALL regular size and to not charge me large since they just charge you LARGE AUTOMATICALLY, they are supposed to ask you medium or large, well since this McDonald's NEVER ask I tell them I want regular size and to not charge me all large like you always do because I don't want it. He rushed me out the drive thru but said okay. WELL when I got to the register I asked the lady what do you have for my order well she called the manager and he came over and did something so instead of paying 23$ he said 20$ I said well all I asked was to repeat my order so he did and I said no large right? He said no. So I pay it drive to next window and I got all large drinks and regular size fries, he charged me 40 cents more for my drinks, which I did not want. I told the girl did I pay for large drinks? She said yes, the manager walks over and I said to him I LITERALLY told you to not charge me for large and you still did. He didn't even apologize he just said go to number one and I'll take you your medium drinks. I said where is my refund? He hands me all dimes no receipt nothing so I don't even know if he gave me the right change. So I waited 5 minutes still no drinks until I sent my daughter out to grab our drinks which they were not making my drinks while they were standing around, my daughter told them it doesn't take that long to make drinks the lady just rolled her eyes. I never expected this kind of experience from Leander area but these people in here are the worse!!!! You need to put them people back in training because their customer service SUCKS!!!! I went to the drive through on Sunday 9/20/20 at 2:45 pm and neither the cashier nor person handing out food were wearing gloves. This is in violation of their company policies posted online for food safety during COVID-19. This is the 3rd time this has happened since July in the middle of a pandemic. This location always seems to be fairly clean. Food seems to be hot and fresh but my burger was slight pink inside. That doesn't bother me but I know some people it would freak them out. It does offer a large size play area for the kids to enjoy during their meal. Parking is tricky depending where you park. The drive thru line will block you in if you park on the building side so be sure fo park on the side facing the road direction! Other than that no complaints. By far the worst service and McDonalds I've ever been too. The drive thru line is always backed up and I feel like my order is almost always wrong. We went to breakfast here yesterday and ate inside. We ordered a few different things and the entire order was wrong. When I told them what we needed they said we would have to stand back in line and reorder. Very unfriendly and bad customer service. Ordered our food and bought 8 McDoubles, 4 fries and what Was supposed to be a strawberry creme pie that the cashier forgot to tell us they haven't had those in a year so was changed to an apple pie.
