Team members are friendly and professional. However, this one team member every time leaves something out of the bag. First time team member parked me and I waited about 10 minutes for my food (not a large or special order) I had to walk up to the drive thru window and ask about my order. They all looked bewildered like what order? Next time medium fries not in the bag, again looks of confusion. No in the bag, team member asks. We were like no,and show team member the bag. Mind you we are still at the pick up window where there is no time to hide fries and lie about not getting them. Third time same team member as the last two times hands over the order after verifying what was ordered and I say yes. We get home an item is missing. First two times mobile app order and third order we did not use mobile app. Everybody has a bad day but wow. DO BETTER. read more

Attempted to purchase a new $25 gift card on 5/8. Something felt off so I checked the balance using the 1800 number. I learned it had a $0 balance so I returned to the restaurant. The manager accused me of being "suspicious", spending the money elsewhere and attempting gift card fraud. Interesting part: When I returned the card to the restaurant, that same manager disappeared with it for 10 minutes. When he returned it was all scratched up, loaded with $0.50 and had transactions dating months back. There's some serious internal theft going on in this restaurant. read more

Apparently, McDonald's on Dixwell in Hamden doesn't serve breakfast foods even though they have breakfast signage and it was 10:30 when I arrived at the drive thru. Beware if you want breakfast don't go there. read more

I had a (very) late-night urge for a Big Mac, so I drove to the local McDonald's anticipating special-sauce goodness. But I was informed that this branch only serves the breakfast menu from 3-11 (contrary to what the company says on the app). I am in the area visiting, I went to McDonald's late night, have waited in line for a very long time which wasnt an issue since it was late, I ordered a happy meal, got charged for some one else's order which was $20 over, luckily noticed, had to wait until it was fixed, but the very worst part was when I got home my happy meal was empty!!!!!!!! I mean I am going to come here everyday to get my coffee regardless cause it's only 1. Beware though if you come here often and use a card even a debt card check on your mobile banking app your transaction history everyday . People here steal card numbers and use them even if it's for small / or large amounts still keep an eye out if someone has your card number . I go here everyday to get a iced coffee and used the same debt card in the drive Thru so I am not surprised someone stole my card number. Most abysmal drive though McDonalds around. Always gets the order wrong, charges extra for things not ordered. Hassle getting a refund, have to stop at pick up window to settle it. People behind me in line are morons who blow their horns... I paid extra for a honey mustard and guess what, no honey mustard at all in the bag. Cold nuggets, kids won't eat them. Woman who served ice cream cones had nails about 2" long, no gloves, ewwww. Total waste of money on crap. English is a second language for most of the workers here. I'm actually surprised the rating for McDonalds is so low. I got a bacon McDouble from the drive-thru. It was hot, prepared correctly and the whole transaction was under 5 minutes start to finish. So, skipping the fact that this is fast food, I'll explain why it's two stars. 1.) The food quality here was meh at best. My chicken sandwich felt dense and I got two sad looking excuses for pickles. 2.) Cleanliness - there are kids running all around in barefeet and socks from the playplace, staff weren't wearing hair nets, and things looked just a shade neglected. Left me feeling a bit unsettled. 3.) The drive through is nothing but a nightmare. Twice I've gone through - both times they screwed up my order. I ate in this last visit and they got it right, but had it sitting there for a few minutes before I had to walk up and ask if I was all set. Really annoyed. 4.) Horrible customer service. They might move lines quickly but they have no regard for their customers other than to get them away from the counter as fast as possible so they can get back to chatting. I wish I could give zero stars. I went through the drive through with a fairly large order. When I parked to eat, I discovered two things were missing: 4 piece chicken nuggets and a plain double cheeseburger. I went back through the drive through and told them my order was wrong and was told to drive to the second window. The young man working was very nice and gave me the chicken nuggets. When I asked about the cheeseburger, his manager came over and this is where the issue started. I was very nice about the whole thing and as someone who works at a restaurant, I understand mistakes happen. However this manager rudely asked me for my receipt. I told her i didn't get one, and she printed out a random receipt and told me I never paid for a cheeseburger. I told her I saw it on the screen when I ordered and asked her to see the receipt. She didn't give it to me and started looking through other orders. She asked me to repeat my entire order back to her and when I did, she saw the correct receipt and told me the cheeseburger would be right out. I asked her to make sure the cheeseburger was plain, and I also asked the young man working at the window to also make sure it was plain. I got my burger and when I checked it, the burger was not plain. Normally I would let these kind of things go but I was already mad because of the horrible customer service, so I decided to go back again. This time I parked and went inside. As soon as I walked in the manager saw me, gave me a look, and ordered a plain double cheeseburger. She made a comment to me about ordering my food properly. I told her I did and she made another comment about how it wasn't in the system. Im allergic to onions, so I know I ordered the cheeseburger plain and I'm lucky I didn't bite into the burger before checking it, I know I did not forget to ask for it plain. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Despite bad reviews I had never had an incorrect order before but I'm very disappointed with the attitude from the MANAGER, who was a grown woman. read more

This is the best McDonald's I go to. I eat way too much McDonald's (3-4 times per week) because I'm often on the road for work. The Hamden McDonald's has the most consistently hot and juicy burgers than any other McDonald's. I drive her from Cheshire (one town away) rather than go to my local McDonald's because the quality of food is night and day. For some reason, the Cheshire McDonald's consistently serves overcooked dried out burgers while Hamden is hot and juicy at least 95% of the time. I use the mobile app and not the drive thru, so perhaps that's why my review is much better than others, but going by just the quality of their food, they are the best in the area by far. read more

I swear everything in Hamden is the worst possible version of itself. Welcome to America's most despicable McDonalds. Roll up to the drive-thru to order a McFlurry and a shake. First they say cash only, then--after adding up our total by hand with a pen and paper, they hand us the order. A soupy, sad looking shake with no cherry or whipped cream--I had to ask...seriously? Tasted like crap on top of that. And also a McFlurry with the toppings tossed on top with no spinning...would have taken another 10 seconds. Laziest most ignorant staff on earth. Went at 12pm on a Tuesday afternoon, it's a fast food place and it should be able to handle it. WRONG. First off in the first window where you pay there were 3 employees standing there, yet it took 4 minutes to get the bill. Second off when we got to the second window where you get food we checked the bill and we had been charged for a mcdouble, a coke and fries. All we had ordered was a medium fry and a lemonade. The lady at the window took our card and told us to park and then to come in and collect our card. In the end they gave the money back and didn't charge us for anything.
