So I'm always underwhelmed by this place. I will never understand how ibis brand continues to grow. Not being a fan of their burgers, today I tried the BLT. It arrived 2 minutes later with nice hot fries. After a bite, I realized the bacon was refrigerator cold Bacon is a protein that needs to be served hot or warm at best. If it cools, the fat hardens and it leaves a nasty mouth feel. I brought it to the counter and was told that's how they make the sandwich and the bacon is cooked in the AM and never heated afterwards. They kindly remade my sandwich and were nice about it but cold bacon- very strange. Anyway, the new sandwich was still mostly cold. However good this place used to be, it's not. The place is always a MESS and the staff can't wait to get rid of you. At around dinner time like 6pm they were closing up tables and turning off lights! So dark in there we could hardly see. Even made people move so they didn't have to clean certain tables again (long braids, tall, wearing a bandanna, female) It takes forever to get your food and it's served so sloppy. First time eating at a Shake Shack so I didn't know what to expect. When we got there there wasn't many customers so was easy to order. Liked how there were mushroom options for veggie folks but I opted for a truffle beef burger with fries and rose cans. Burger was delicious so I'll give them that. Fries were fine. The ambiance of this spot is nice and modern. Lots of table or booths for your preference and decent people watching spot. The big negative.... There was a CONSTANT flow of middle and a high school age kids that came in to just get cups of water or to plug into the outlets. I wouldn't have a problem with a couple kids just quietly doing that but was groups loudly coming in that our conversation halted because it was distracting. Right around the corner from the theater, and we appreciated that they were open after a Sunday matinee. Yummy shakes, we got cookies and cream and it was delicious. Hearing that there might be a Shake Shack around the corner from my new job was pretty good news I like the food there and it's easy to walk to in New haven near the green. You can even sit inside and people watch from its big window . You can get a speedy order by ordering on the tablets or the cashier is available. Today I used the tablet and chose away. So many options I just went with something I know I'd enjoy . Fries with cheese sauce on side , a bourbon burger with onion straws with a phenomenal sauce ontop. They cook the burgers just right and it stayed together nicely. I would definitely order this meal again. Generally I try really hard not to do any overly negative reviews but I didn't experience anything positive with this shake shack visit. Once we arrived, we ordered. My friend ordered one of their draft beers but no one came for her ID at all, we were left standing for a solid 5 minutes until she kinda just gave up on it. We ordered food. Me and my boyfriend ordered first, before our other friends and our food came last, with a 20 minute wait. I ordered the spicy chicken and it was $10, I got a highschool lunch slider with a teaspoon of slaw and 2 pickles (I asked for extra). The ranch fries came with a small, shallow ranch dip and the cheese sauce was conservatively dolloped on top. Not only this, but 3 out of 4 people in our group (including me) experienced belly aches and non pleasant times in the bathroom from this. I stopped in early in the week for a Yelp event. I must say as far as fast food the restaurant is way more upscale than your normal fast food joint. Definitely cleaner than most I have visited. As far as the food I honestly don't think it is all that. For the prices you are paying you would think the food/burgers would be better but I could not find anything noticeably different than the regular mom and pop burger joint I frequent. It is an ok place to visit if you are with a group of friends but you will pay quite a sum for doing so. Personally I don't think I will be back for a second visit. I originally confused Shack Shack with another fast food place, which left me crawling home with a low-grade illness. But after seeing Shake Shack's everywhere fancy things are sold I decided to try it again. It's a budget tier above most fast food (for example, the Taco Bell Cantina just down the street) but the food is quite good for what it's trying to be. This is the way to eat fast food in one's 30's, where portions are smaller, the extra grease is poured off the food before plating, and the quality of ingredients is higher. First, the shakes are especially good. If you're a salted caramel fan, this is one of the most saline shakes I've ever had, and that's a good thing. The burgers are also quite good, packing intense nuggets of flavor into the toppings (ex. fried shallot chips) or into the delicate browning of the meat which gives it a crispy, semi-burnt texture and rich flavor. Even the side items are tasty. We tried the (and I hate to say this out loud) Shack-Cago dog, and while it's a dollar or two more than what it should be from a proper dog joint in the Windy City, the ingredients taste fresh, the relish is unnaturally green, and the bun has poppy seeds. The Shackmeister Ale is a good pairing with the food, but probably not worth drinking on its own, and the wine is good too, though will inflate your total bill pretty quickly. And this location has a few entertainment odds and ends. Like so many other places in New England, there's a well sanded shuffleboard, plus a foosball table. No doubt patrons take pucks and balls home on a regular basis, but they always seem to have the parts to play. And there's a fireplace for those brutal winter days when you're trudging in from the bitter cold to get a moderate portion of great tasting food. read more

Their sauce definitely adds the extra umph to the burger along with their bun. They both stand out and make the burger tasty. I can now understand why people love it. I like it too! I've been obsessed with Shake Shack from my very first bite, many many moons ago. I've most frequently visited locations around NYC, but have also tried the Shake Shack in Newton, MA. Recently I visited the New Haven location for the firs time. I was there on a frigid Wednesday night, and it was probably the shortest line I've ever experienced at a Shake Shack. I saw a sign for free fries with your order between certain hours on Wednesday evenings (we were there a bit too early to participate), and it seemed like a really cool draw for one of their slower nights to get more customers through the door. I bet this is a huge college hangout for Yale students. I saw lots of students there while we dined. One of my favorite things about this location is that they have a Shake Shack themed shuffleboard game and foosball table. This was the first time I had seen anything like that at a Shake Shack! As always, the food is delicious. I love the burgers and the cheese fries are sublime. I really can't get enough, and wish they would open a location closer to my home in RI. Until then, I'm happy to know there is a Shake Shack in New Haven that can satisfy my cravings the next time I'm in the area. read more

I tried this place on a Sunday about 4 PM. Ordered on the app which was quite easy. You have to go inside to pick it up at this location. Parking here is very spotty and can be next to impossible but I got lucky and found a spot very near the front door. It's all on street or parking garage parking. The speed of service was not great but reasonable I suppose, about 15 Minutes from when I ordered. The food was pretty good, I just had the shack burger. The patty was pretty well done, which is not perfect but it tasted good with the condiments and was a good sized burger. The staff person was very nice and friendly. They are all over NYC with lines going out the door every day. We have just 2 in Connecticut - one in Westport and the one we visited today in the shadows of Yale in New Haven. From what I read, this one is packed during the week, what with the combination of office workers and Yalies looking for a cheap lunch. Today (Black Friday) it was fairly empty and we had just a ten minute wait to order. Being unfamiliar with the menu, I took advantage of the time to see what they offered. The food menu is rather limited. They have hamburgers, dogs, and a veggie burger with all kinds of toppings, and regular fries or cheese fries. The real attraction here is the shakes and frozen desserts - cups, cones, frozen custards, concretes. Plus beer, wine, and doggie treats. I had a Shack-cago dog - a very good split grilled hotdog served with relish, onion, cuke, pickle, tomato, hot pepper and mustard for just $4. The crinkle cut fries for $2.70 were excellent. I sampled a caramel shake and a cup of frozen custard and they were great. Its a fun place to visit, with delicious and reasonably priced food. Yay, I'm a fan! read more

The only reason to ever give a Shake Shack 3 stars or lower is if you happened to get a lazy employee and you got some bad service on one occasion. Otherwise, the burgers are great, the crinkle cut fries are perfect (ok, maybe 3 stars is warranted if you go to one of the NY locations with the terrible new fries), and the concretes are seriously some of the best possible desserts ever. I always feel the need to visit all of the Shake Shacks I see to try at least one of the signature concrete combinations unique to that location. I also like when I happen upon one on a different day of the week, as I like to substitute the custard of the day from the current Custard Calendar instead of the plain vanilla or chocolate that most normally come with. The concrete I tried here was one of the best ever: the Skull & Cones. Normally consisting of a mix of chocolate and vanilla custard, I subbed in the Saturday flavor of Pretzel Caramel, which was as genius as it sounds. It also consists of crushed up sugar cone pieces, peanut butter sauce, and best of all, generous amounts of chocolate truffle cookie dough. I happened to walk happily up to the C-Line, with nobody in front of me, ordered an amazing Concrete, got served in 2 minutes, and left nice and happy. There was definitely a huge line waiting for regular food, but it looked to be moving quickly, and this location has a ton of seating in a nice, open airy room. Unless you are a burger snob and feel the need to try Louis' Lunch at least once, just come here instead for what is probably the best burger in town, and what is definitely the best dessert. read more
