I'm familiar with this chain. This is my first time at this location. We ordered the $9.99 Rodeo burger special with fries, a drink and a burger. I also ordered a zesty chipotle chicken wrap. The burger was good. The fries stated reheated not fresh. Besides shakes and fountain sodas this location also had 4 different aguas frescas. We choose the mango lemonade agua frescas which was very refreshing. The chicken wrap was satisfying, with fresh tomato and lettuce and priced just at $2.99 Service was adequate nothing good or bad to add here. The dining areas were very clean and organized. Popped today to indulge in the $8.00 special. Got the chicken sandwich and tater tots. Staff was very friendly while I placed my order. After a good 7 mins later my name was called. Picked up my order with a smile. The chicken sandwich was juicy and had such good flavor. The tater tots were utter perfection!! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ventured to the distant hills of Hamden to sample from Wayback burgers and dine on their fares. The establishment itself was clean although mired by a stereotypical corporate ambiance. I purchased a burger and tots to sate my appetite. The burger while rich in accoutrement was lacking in substance. The meat was dry and deficient in flavor. How am I JUST finding out about Wayback Burgers????! I wasn't feeling too well so I was in need for junk food but of course, plant based and Wayback Burgers popped up for having an impossible melt. My friend and I immediately headed to Hamden to dine in on some burgers. We ordered an impassible melt with some fries and grabbed a seat by the window. The staff brought our food over and this by far was the best impossible burger I have EVER had. Even better than the ones I've had in LA. I haven't been to this chain in a long time ,so finding one near my Job on a hungry night was a good idea . They make the burger fresh right infront of you ,so you can watch it cook or have a seat while it's being made. My only issue is everything is a la carte ,so it can get pretty pricey fast. I wanted a burger, so I picked a single patty with just fried onions & ketchup . The burger was so good there's nothing like fresh beef. I had to try the fries ,so I ordered a small order and a side of fried pickles being extra hungry for no reason. Came here on a suggestion of my uncle who lives a few blocks away. Located in a strip mall, quick glancing at the establishment, I would have probably never even realized it was a food joint. Walked inside and there were a few patrons scattered around some tables. The menu and ordering style reminded me a lot of the restaurant Five Guys back home. The lady at the cash register looked very unhappy to be working and glared at each member of our party (6 + a baby) as we ordered. It's not like she had to do much regarding our order, besides press some buttons. At least slap a fake smile on your face and call it a day. The burger was alright, it wasn't anything amazing that I would tell all my friends about. But it was good. My mom got onion rings as her side and I wish I had! THOSE were delicious! My new name for this place is Jake's No Way I'm Going Back Burgers. The service here is totally ridiculous. Apparently they make the majority of their money through pickups, because they are not even remotely interested in patrons who actually walk inside to dine. According my receipt, my order was entered at 12:41. There was nothing complicated about it, and it should not have taken long to prepare. When they had filled 15 or 20 other orders, and mine was nowhere in sight, more than 10 minutes later, I inquired. I let them know that I had an appointment and needed to have my food by 1:00. They pointed to the kitchen, where I had seen a woman on her phone the entire time I was standing there, told me that Impossible Burgers take longer to cook, and told me that my order was nearly ready. Okay, not sure why a veggie burger would need more time than meat, particularly when I ordered it without the roll and just a few toppings, but, whatever. Just before 1, when I was ready to ask them to cancel my order and refund my money, I was handed a bag. I asked for a tray and got a paper box. Other customers were given metal trays, but not a big deal. At least I could place my food on something to cut it and eat it. I laid out my food and discovered that they hadn't added the cheese, even though it was on my receipt. By now, it was after 1. I couldn't wait for them to redo my order, and, quite honestly, didn't trust them to get it right anyway. I asked them to just hand me the cheese and I placed the unmelted slice on top of my food. Maybe this is the new post-COVID normal, but I haven't had this experience anywhere else. This is definitely not fine dining; it's fast food. I will bypass this place in the future and go somewhere that can accommodate both walk-in and to go customers. This is a good choice for a quick local burger. Faster than the local "chains" like TGIF and Chilis with about the same quality but a little cheaper. I agree with Rich H on the proportion size vs value but maybe we are so spoiled by Glenwood and 5Guys that we just think we should be getting more. Very average burger place. Service is pretty quick, and the place is clean and usually quiet. The shakes here are probably my favorite, the black&white is delicious. They bring the food to your table after you order which is cool. They have gotten my order wrong a few times (Ordering grilled chicken and getting fried chicken, forgetting tomato) but overall the food and general experience is what you would expect. Fresher lettuce and tomatoes on the burger but it was somehow still bland. The shake (chocolate flavor) tasted rather vanilla-y with some chocolate syrup added in. The fries were the best part of the meal but they were on the just barely done end of the frying spectrum, certainly no way near crisp. Meh. Not horrible but not good. I'd choose Wendy's over them for a burger in a slight time crunch. The gentleman who took our order and delivered our food was friendly and made an effort to point out the fresh meat, "not frozen like other places". A subtle dig? Great burgers and shakes. This is one of my favorite burgers. It's right up there with Shake shack, Prime 16, and Five guys. It's not much for atmosphere and really just feels like a fast food joint. Usually order online, and orders are ALWAYS completely correct down to the toppings and the side sauces. Food is always hot, fresh and delicious. Customer service in the store is phenomenal - always friendly, accommodating and just a warm atmosphere.
