This place is my go to after I finish at the gym. Food is consistently delicious and healthy and the staff is friendly. I love that most of the ingredients they use are organic. Also, their guac is some of the best around. I don't enjoy the flavor and consistency of their sofritas, but I still make vegan bowls here all the time. In case you didn't know, you can get a discount on your bowl if you only have three plant based ingredients in it (but guac doesn't count). It's called a "veggie 3-pointer." This chipotle never seems to disappoint. Four years ago I offered it two stars. Somehow I keep going back. Tonight, I was hungry and tired and just needed a meal. The amount of food provided was small. The beans were less than a ladle full scooped out of a bin which was all liquid. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any chipotle. The young man serving didn't even speak to me, didn't ask me what I wanted just stood there dead silent, no smile, nothing! Even after I said "hello." It was so obvious how much he hates being there. I finally said "are you ready to take my order?" He still didn't say a word to me. The entire time I was there none of the people filling order's spoke to me. They just slopped on the spoonfuls of food and shoved the bowl down the line. It was pretty sad to see. I was originally a little uneasy about going to this location given all the reviews, but my experience couldn't have been better. I had a free entree promo code to use, so I decided on the Hamden location. I ordered a sofritas bowl with all plant-based add-ons because I needed it to be fully vegan. I placed my order online to beat the line in the restaurant, but I knew that would come with a risk because I wouldn't actually physically see what got put into my bowl. When I got to chipotle, my order was already ready even though I arrived 10 minutes early and the Sunday night crowd was big. I opened up the bowl at home and it was probably the most well-made bowl I've gotten from Chipotle. There was a lot of each add-on, and none of my choices were messed up. Everything tasted great. Will definitely be making Hamden my go-to Chipotle. read more

I almost never give 1 star reviews, but this has to be one of the worst Chipotles I've been to in life, and I've been eating at Chipotle for 15+ years. This place is a shining example of what not to do for customer service and food preparation and I'm surprised they even had any customers here unless everyone was a first time customer and had never experienced the rudeness and poor quality of the things here. I got a chicken burrito with black beans and they were basically out of both when they were making mine, so I just got a bunch of chicken juice and bean water in my burrito. I was surprised that they ran out of both of these (my Mom was ordering after me and they didn't have any more chicken or black beans for her - they hadn't replenished more or offered to, even when she wanted both) since these seem to be the most popular options people get. When I accidentally forgot to order the fajita vegetables at the same time as the meat, and then asked to have them added, I got the hugest huff from the employee, who looked at me as if I had asked her to go into a garden, pick some vegetables and grill them herself, all while standing on her head. I know it was a little out of order, but it was a mistake, they weren't busy and I was apologetic, and the employee looked like she wanted to kill me and was so rude. My Mom had gotten a bowl without guacamole, but then when they rang us up, they charged us for guac because the person who was making the bowl told the cashier we had gotten chicken + guac. When I asked the person who made the bowl if she had charged us for something we didn't get, she told me she didn't charge me for anything and pointed at the cashier, stating she was the one who charged us incorrectly. I'll still go to Chipotle, but not to this one again unless all other food options in its radius was closed and this was the only choice. The staff here was immensely rude and the quality of the food was just so-so for all the hassle we went through, and they barely had enough of the staples and then ran out. I have been here a few times sometimes to get takeout or eat in. I stopped in yesterday 12/17/22...I actually was a couple customers behind a very difficult customer in line who just wasn't satisfied, reaching over the glass etc. This employee handled himself very professionally facial expressions and all. He was very friendly and did a great job with my order. I had to do a review and let his employer as well s other yelpers know what a great job Elijah did and how professional he was. My worst experience at a Chipotle location. I've been to at least 6 different Chipotles (mostly in CA) and I have never had a subpar experience until today. My order is usually a chicken fajita bowl with mild salsa on the side. When I stepped up for my turn, I told the worker the rice, beans, etc. and that I'd wait for the fresh fajitas to come out rather than getting the stale green, mushy-looking, overcooked fajita (I REALLY LIKE MY SEMI-CRUNCHY, FRESH-LOOKING FAJITAS). She ignored my request, went to put some of the mushy fajita on, and passed on my bowl to the next worker. I immediately mentioned to her again that I didn't want the old fajitas, but would rather wait. She told her cook and her cook said for me to wait 5 mins. I said ok and the original worker rolled her eyes at me. Obviously, she wanted me to finish my order and be done with. Finally, the fresh fajitas were added on and the second worker looked upset when I mentioned I wanted mild salsa on the side. Is that too much to ask? The staff needs to not show attitude. I agree with others. This location has DIM lights so if you're the kind of person who needs lighting to enhance your food, don't come here. Quality of food was good otherwise. read more
