I work in Hamden and needed a quick place to grab food during my break. I was in the mood for tacos, so I walked into this restaurant and sat at the bar. I was served right away and ordered the Carnitas Tacos, which come with three tacos and a side of fries. Stopped here for a lunch based on reviews. Small restaurant, maybe 20 seats inside. They seem to do a good takeout business. People coming and going as we had lunch. Our server was the owner - very friendly and quick, not to mention proud of the place. As he should be... the food was great. Not rushed, fresh ingredients, and plenty of food. We had the beef chimichanga and birria tacos were just right. Easy to miss, but if you're in the area, worth a stop! read more

Hi I stopped here for lunch about a week ago and the food was AWESOME. It's a small family owned restaurant. The food is tasty and cooked to perfection. All I can say is go try it out and you will be satisfied and full. For the price you have so much food to eat there and leftovers to take home. You have to find street parking but I went at lunch time so it was easy to park right out front. I look forward to going back to try some other menu items. Look at the pics. I wish I still lived in CT so I can sink my teeth into their Birria Tacos. They are soooooo good. I would purchase these with guacamole and chips and take the sweetest nap ever. The service is quick and everyone is really kind. The restaurant is beautiful and have seating outside for warmer weather. My pregnant butt misses their tacos so much. I always hate to leave a negative review as I know everyone works hard. But this place is a converted Chinese takeout and it looks like someone forgot to convert it. They stock everything when you walk in in the lobby entry. Such a bad look. Also the Asian woman had no idea how to fold the burrito and everything was spilling out of it when we opened the bag. read more

We enjoyed the fresh authentic Mexican food, quick service, and friendly employees and chef. We will definitely come again. We ate in the restaurant, but it seemed that many customers were coming in to pick up takeout orders. There are not many Mexican places around here, so having one so close to home is a bonus. Being from Southern California, I never thought I'd find satisfactory and authentic Mexican food in my current community. I have searched high and low, but at last I have! I ordered the Al Pastor burrito without rice--like I like my burritos, and it was powerfully tasty, fresh and Mexican. I asked for salsa inside the burrito as well, so it had a subtle kick. I didn't understand why there was lettuce in it, but that didn't take from the flavor and overall presentation. I will be back again this weekend. This is some of the best Mexican food I've had in the area! Since it's opened we've ordered from here at least once or twice a week. Fish tacos, mole or green Chile enchiladas, chorizo tacos & spinach empanadas were my favorite. The hibiscus juice is also excellent. Owners are super nice & service is excellent. Being a Hamden resident you don't see many authentic Mexican restaurants around unless you go to new haven. We were so excited to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. We ordered a steak torta and steak tacos dorados. The wait was about 20 mins. I waited in my car and the lady was so nice to even bring it outside to me when it was done. Best tacos in the New Haven area! It's just a little hole in the wall restaurant, but the food is amazing. You will not be disappointed.

The one time we ate there, the tacos were very good. But the young man owner or manager was so rude to us today we just left. He came to window to take our order, all stressed out like last time, grabs a pen &paper and jabs his chin at me, like "What do you want?" I said Hello, and he just glared at me with attitude. It was 100° in there so I asked if we can sit outside. He said it would be a half hour wait. There was ONE family sitting outside... the whole patio was empty! We are nice people and my son is half Mexican & loves tacos, but I guess they don't need our business. read more
