    Birria tacos

Was excited to try this after a friend recommended it and it did not disappoint. We were able to find parking a couple blocks away at a good price. The menu has a variety of options that all sounds delicious. The inside is small but we were able to get a seat on a Thursday around 1pm. Had a hard time deciding what to get but decide on the barrio tacos to split and chancho columbian style arepas. Loved them both! Flavors were incredible! So much food and was able to bring home leftovers. I think the prices may seem a little high but they are fair for the amount of food and quality. Very glad we got to try!

So glad we decided to Lunch on a beautiful afternoon! I'm An Arepa lover and they had Arepa from Venezuela and Colombia. The portions are huge! My friend and I got 2 dishes and 1 app and split everything and we still had leftovers. Everything was full of fl. Presentation was lovely and inviting. Music was great. They don't sell alcohol so you'd be getting Mocktails or soda/ juice . Service was excellent. I definitely will come back to have breakfast arepas or perhaps tacos. They have many options on the menu! Everything was so worth it!

Came on a Monday at 5:30pm and it was empty so we were seated immediately. The menus from a few years ago showed a happy hour from 3-6 but they no longer have that. But they do have daily specials and Monday is 20% off arepas so that was a happy accident! The place is small, not the cutest ambiance but the food is very good!! We waited less than 8 minutes for food and were very happy with how flavorful everything was!

Tasty and authentic! Enjoyed their colombian style arepas. We had the birria arepa and chicken tinga arepa, would get both again

I spent an afternoon wandering downtown Connecticut, and happened upon this "blink and you'll miss it", restaurant. I eat a LOT of Spanish food, so I was trying to do something different, but the photos of the food on the menu posted to the door, & the fact that it had begun to rain, made me rush inside. I'm glad that I did! The food was on the pricey side, but it didn't disappoint in flavor nor portions. I ordered a horchata, chips and salsa, & a chicken quesadilla. Everything came out quickly, and it all tasted delicious. I also really enjoyed the rice as well as the house made guacamole. Check this place out, it's definitely worth the trip!

The arepas are pretty good! There is sometimes a great deal on Snackpass, so I recommend keeping an eye out for that. The inside and small and cute. The staff is super nice. I got the tostones which was super nice and crispy. If anything, a little salty. Much less expensive than soul de cuba, so this a great affordable option. I'm excited to try more items on their menu.

Wow, this place knocks it out of the park. I had this on my list for years and it did not disappoint. The food was amazingly fresh, and I would call it upscale Latin cuisine. There aren't many seats here, however. I think there were 14-16 seats in all, and also a bar area. But they do take reservations. I will go back.

Great to-go Colombian/Venezuelan spot. My boyfriend and I stayed at The Blake Hotel and were happy to find something new to try, but that we could share. We ordered the Carne Arepa Colombian style, which comes with rice, plantains, and the arepa toppings. Delicious! Excellent customer service. They also offer student discounts!

Authentic South American food, coupled with great service, made dinner at Rubamba a wonderful experience. The Birria Tacos had a sufficient amount of birria meat, and a more than sufficient amount of cheese, making them taste more like quesadillas than tacos. The meat was so tender and juicy that the additional birria sauce wasn't even necessary. The Columbian Chicken Arepa's sweet corn base supplemented the tender chicken. The sweet plantains came as a part of the Arepa dish, but were so delicious that I would order them as a side next time! There was very limited indoor seating, and not the greatest indoor space, so I would definitely recommend going on a sunny day to sit outside.

Great food, service, and a cute small outdoor seating area with a space heater! Found this place when searching for a restaurant with BYOB and was impressed by the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff! Highly recommend!

I loved this place. It's small, tables are too close, its oddly layed out, however I really enjoyed it. The arepas were perfect. The Jamaica (hibiscus juice) was fantastic. Presentation on everything was thoughtful. Our server was friendly. Few restaurants can successfully fuse so many cultures of Latin cuisine but they did a great job. The fried ice cream had a coating that was thick and not my favorite, otherwise no complaints at all. I will definitely return.

This place was such a surprise. Inside doesn't look like much but the food was amazing. Prices weren't too bad for what you get. My meal was $20 but it was way worth the price!!

Ordered with a co-worked for lunch delivery with Grubhub. I can honestly say I've never had an arepa before but my lunch was ridiculously good! Like I'm craving a return already good. I ordered the pollo arepa lunch special which was a corn cake (arepa) topped with semi spicy tender chicken (good quality chicken), sour cream, rice, veggies, plantains, and guacamole. It was an explosion of goodness in every bite. The rice was perfect. Nice chunks of guacamole. It's on my list for sure.

Food wasn't what was expected. Not authentic arepas. Place seems more a take out spot fast food for the students near by vs a real eatery.

This review is not the easiest for me to write. I have been coming to the Little Columbian…read morerestaurant since 2015. I loved this place, their food was fantastic and the quality was super consistent; an excellent spot to get together with friends or a date. So much attention to detail was paid, house made dressing, salsa, all ingredients were super fresh, the meats were always cooked excellently, and the staff was friendly. I hadn't been to the restaurant in a while but at some point in the last few years the Little Columbian restaurant became My little Columbian restaurant. My friends and I went there for dinner at the end of October, there was one couple that was leaving the restaurant but we were the only ones there when we first walked in. The vibe of the restaurant has changed because they changed how they decorated the interior of the restaurant. I prefer their older vibe but no big deal. Our waitress was nice and very attentive all night and the staff in general was quite friendly. Here's my issue, the food quality is not as good as it was in the past. And if they are going to charge along the same lines as what they have, always been on the pricier side, then the quality should still be at the same level. There were a bunch of little things that added up. To start, the salad I ordered didn't have the same quality of greens (I think they used a spring mix in the past), there were some small bits of core in the salad. More to my disappointment the Salad dressing was no longer the house dressing they used to make it was Ken's balsamic dressing, which generally tastes like diabetes syrup. Maybe it was an off night for the salad and I could live with that but the lack of the old house dressing was disappointing. Speaking of cutting corners, the chimichuri used to be super fresh and of good quality ingredients. The chimichuri this time around had a lower quality olive oil and the parsley was dried instead of fresh. My friend ordered some empanadas, which were partially burnt and again the slasa wasn't the same quality as they used to make with the empanadas. For an entree, I ordered Bandeja Columbiana. The chicharon was a bit overdone but ok enough. The chorizo was probably the best part but you have to try to mess up chorizo. The maduro was kind of dry and somewhat bland. The chicken was a touch rubbery and the steak was fine; nothing to write home about. As I had mentioned before the food wasn't terrible, it was fine enough but it was not worth the price it cost. Much worse is the fact that the quality in general just isn't the same as it had been prior, maybe they just had an off night but something tells me this is how it is now. It's too bad this restaurant isn't quite what it was; it used to be one of my favorites.

They also use gorgeous dish ware that feels luxurious. Certain food and drink items are listed for $8 each on the happy hour menu, and we got two margaritas, empanadas, shrimp tacos and a burrata salad, plus we threw in a side of tostones, and everything was delicious. It was less than $30 per person including tip! Do not snooze on this!!! We sat at one of the swing tables, and while the novelty of swinging while eating was quite fun, it was a little tricky to get close enough to the table to eat comfortably. But it's worth trying at least once! They did a great job decorating for the holidays, and the server was super kind. I loved the whole experience and will most certainly return.
