On Feb 13 ordered a Shrimp mofongo which I order every Friday in the afternoon , usually is very good and fresh but not yesterday the mofongo was hard and the shrimp kind of crusty and hard , not freshly made seems like this was sitting all day and then re heated it was terrible , it's the first time I have this issue , this type of food should be made fresh . The yellow rice and beans are to die for! The best flavor and perfect seasoning to crave. My personal favorite is the caramel tres leches cake. I can definitely describe it as a drug because it is an addiction. I crave that cake everyday. All flavors are good but Caramel is my number 1. Best cake I've tried in Connecticut! The place is small and the parking is the worst but the food is definitely worth it. The Dominican community that works there are sweet and nice. I highly recommend for take out not dine in. I am so pleased after stopping at this neighborhood gem today!! I had to wait 15 minutes for fresh yellow rice, but boy was it worth the wait! The restaurant itself is a takeout eatery. There is a walk up, clear-glass steam table system, so you can see all of the delicious offerings right in front of you. The wait staff was very friendly. I was also very impressed with how clean the restaurant was! That's always a plus! I ordered the yellow rice, Spanish-style pink beans, with a quarter roasted chicken. I love when restaurants offer a choice of the leg quarter or the breast and wing. I also ordered the Pernil with the same beans and rice combo. On the side, I got the avocado salad and chicken empanada. EVERYTHING was excellent! So fresh, flavorful, juicy and delicious! I smiled the entire time I ate! If you are in the Hill section of New Haven, treat yourself to lunch or dinner at this spot! My pictures don't even do this place justice. I can't wait to go back! read more

This place is great! I've tried their salmon with rice and potatos and everything is seasoned to perfection! Their grilled Chicken with rice and beans is another meal you cannot go wrong with! Portions are great for sharing or saving some for the next day! As an Avacado lover my absolute favorite is the Avacado Salad with tostones! The Avacado salad is so fresh and flavorful! Perfect to add with any meal here or a nice snack to eat separately. Customer service is also amazing! read more

Salami, cheese, and eggs were amazing!!!! The salami wasn't too greasy and the cheese was squeaky like cheese curds which I loved. Wish I knew more about the cheese itself. I had never tried Mangu but it went perfectly with the egg and was flavorful on its own. The dish that came with the chicken (maybe also mangu?) tasted a bit more like plantains and cheese and I liked it a bit better. Again I wish I knew more about this cuisine but it was so tasty!!! There's a reason that pork roast with rice and beans is listed as "popular" on food ordering sites: It's a generous proportion of nice food that tastes comforting rather than challenging. I'll probably get four meals out of mine, which makes me happy. Pro tip: if you're into beans, order extra beans. I ordered mine on top of the rice and next time will pay for additional beans. The guava tres leches cake is a must-order. It's very well-milked, with a texture halfway between regular cake and cheesecake, with a thin layer of guava glaze on top. I was browsing GH and I have to admit it was the pictures of the pork roast with rice and beans that got to me. Turned out to be a good decision! As mentioned I had the Pernil with Moro Negro, an side of tostones and a chicken-wing. The pork, beans and black-rice was terrific! One of the better meals I've had in recent memory actually. Tostones were also very good although I could only eat half of the huge portion! (will be good for breakfast tomorrow!) The rest of the meal however was a step down sadly so I had to dock one star. The single (huge!) chicken wing was just okay... a bit undercooked and fatty. Also the side-order of beans had a bit of an "off" flavor so I didn't finish them. Overall though a very good dinner. The food was great. The mofongo was the best I've had here in Connecticut compared to PR. The roasted chicken was flavorful and juicy. The portion of the mofongo and chicken was great. We also ordered Moro with Pollo a la plancha. Now, for this dish, the portion was not that big, but it was flavorful. We would definitely take the drive to eat here again. read more

Excellent food at reasonable prices. Went in for takeout. Ordered Pork with rice & beans, Empenadas, Cod Fritters, Tostones, Plantain/Pork pie, Tres Leches Caramel. Really impressed by flavor & quality & portion sizes. Their medium is really a large. Despite most foods having been fried, there was no extra grease, no oil on hands if you pick it up. This was one of the most satisfying meals we've had in a long time & the counter help were friendly. The only minus was they have no Menus. You see through glass what's on offer. Never again, the mofongo was salty, the pork had no seasoning, the bacalao was in a red tomato sauce, not what I'm use to and the rice and beans, my Latino community would be disappointed.
