A little context before we begin: I used to be a *hardcore* TB fan. As a young adult, I would eat there 1-2 times a week and I had my own fan site for about 9 years. Their quality used to be much better...but sadly, times have changed. Since they've been going downhill, I've only been going about once a year for old times sake. But this time the food was so bad I am never going back. I got a black bean taco, a 7 layer burrito, a Mexican pizza and a veggie bowl, all customized at the kiosk to be vegan. The black bean taco barely had any beans in it. The beans also tasted less good than before. There wasn't much crunch from the shell. The veggies were alright I suppose. The burrito was disappointing as well. Beans, rice and tortilla were not good at all. I also added red sauce which wasn't good either. On the Mexican pizza, the sauce was delicious, but that's the only nice thing I can say. The beans were still horrible and the shell tasted like it was overcooked. Finally I got to the bowl. Once again, nasty beans and rice. The potatoes and guac were okay, as were the tomatoes, onions and cabbage. After finishing, my stomach got upset. In all my years, TB has never made me feel this physically ill before. Granted, I'm not that young anymore, but still. The last time I was there this didn't happen. I can't believe how far they've fallen. I now consider TB to be the McDonald's of Tex Mex. Trust me when I say that is NOT a compliment. read more

Where do I even begin. I came here a couple of weeks ago for the first real time with some friends. We wanted to hang out so we dined in. We all ordered on different order ipads and began to wait. There were about 12 workers there, mind you. Some workers were walking out of the building randomly, or repeatedly using the bathroom. Normally I don't judge for that but it would be the same dude using it every 5 minutes with a different friend every time. Anyways, we waited for ONE HOUR. I cant make this up. Finally we went to the counter (keep in mind every other person in there was also waiting for crazy long), and finally one of the workers told me my order didn't even go through. I also came tonight and waited for about 10 minutes at the voice box to order in the drive thru. This Taco Bell is easily the worst one in the area. We were trying to choose between two Taco Bells and saw this one had 5 stars -- let us just say, 5 stars well-deserved! It looks like a normal taco bell from outside, but much like a magical taco genie lamp, the interior is much more spacious and magical than the exterior (see picture). "the food's actually not bad," I said aloud. "Yeah, this looks like a rebranded panera," attested a friend who came along. "i just want to eat my nachos," added another friend, who truly did just want to eat his nachos. While we were eating, a woman ordered a cheese pizza from the drive-thru. "We don't make pizzas, we make tacos" protested the drive-thru worker. But it was to no avail. "I want a pizza! Make me a pizza!" cried the customer. "What about a mexican pizza?" "No! Cheese!" Anyway. This place is CLEAN. Like so clean that we felt obligated to wipe the tables after we left. (You could tell the staff was proud of it, too-- one guy said "I cleaned it!" when we came in.) There is also some crazy taco bell art on the walls. Like on canvas. We have titled them: "Hunger dog on empty," "Bell brained," and "This taco bell is so awesome that I turned into a freaking butterfly." If I had not been to Mexico and had never eaten at any other Mexican place in my entire life I would have thought this was authentic Mexican food. With that being said, authentic is a relative term, as are many terms that we use in the English language. So this may, in fact, be authentic Mexican food to some. My main and only course was a Quesalupa. All I can say is you have to have one. It is so good in such a bad way. Put some hot sauce on it and take it down. I had to download yelp just to leave a review on this place, so you know how terrible my experience was. The women at the drive thru was extremely rude while I was giving her my order. I ordered 4 soft tacos and specified only meat cheese and lettuce. I also order a 12 pack of Cinnabon delights. When I pulled up to the window she had no mask on. The transaction was very quick but when I got home to eat the lid to my Cinnabon's were off and half of them were still cold inside. My 4 soft tacos with only meat cheese and lettuce were actually crunchy and came with sour cream and tomatoes. I will never be coming back here. read more

I stopped in last week on the way home to pick up some dinner. The lobby is still closed due to the accident, so I had to go to the drive-thru. While the order I placed looked correct on the screen, when I got home and looked at what was in the bag there were many mistakes. I ordered three items: they got the toppings on the first item incorrect, the second item was okay, but they never even bothered to put the third item in the bag (i.e., I paid for it but didn't receive it). I know it's convenient because it's on the way home, but I don't know why I stop in here from time to time - because every time it seems that I've gone there, I have a bad experience with either how they put together my order or not getting what I ask for in the first place. In the future I'll take my own advice to you, and go to one of the other fast food locations along this strip - or to Chipotle or Moe's (which are also along this strip) if I really wanted fake Mexican!!! read more

I'm shocked this place hasn't been rated yet. I never thought I'd be rating a fast food place but I just felt I had to. First of all, the place is CLEAN. That's a huge statement to make about a Taco Bell. The inside looked very trendy and very inviting to eat in. The service is really excellent. They all look like they actually want to work there and some of them like to crack jokes with customers when they make their orders (Tastefully of course). Even more, their food portions are larger than any other Taco bell I've been to and they aren't any more expensive. The drive through gave us our food literally within seconds of driving to the window. Even though I live in New Haven, I actually choose to drive all the way up Dixwell ave to Hamden to get to that Taco Bell even though there's one much closer in New Haven. Overall I'd definitely recommend going to this particular Taco Bell even if you have this idea that all fast foods are dirty and poor excuses for restaurants. I wish all fast foods would follow their model. read more

This is one of my favorite fast food restaurants to go to. They do a good job cleaning the restaurant throughout the day and everyone working there seems very friendly if you want to talk to them.
