This unique McDonald's is either slammed, as in 8 cars deep drive-thru, or no lines, no waiting. At least this is true for weekends in the summer. I visit about every 2 weeks to get my dad a quarter pounder and 1 time I opted for an iced coffee. I'll preface by saying I asked for an iced coffee, 1/2 of the caramel pumps they normally do, some cream, no other sweetener. The entire reason I'm writing this review is because whoever made the coffee that day NAILED it. I don't like DD, SBux is okay but McDonald's iced coffee, when made correctly, hits! They usually ask me to pull into a spot so they can make the quarter pounder fresh. Despite feeling like I have to wait a bit, I know it's for good reason. One time they didn't include fries in the bag so now I check when they bring the order out. The inside has a lot of seats but the menu on the self serve screens is presented differently than the drive-thru and I actually could not find a regular quarter pounder and ended up ordering a version with lettuce and tomato on accident. This is definitely a unique looking McDonald's. It's built inside of a historic home in Freeport, Maine. I didn't see any special menu items, but I heard during seasonal time they offer a lobster roll sandwich. I guess that's Main's version of the McRib. The place is very clean inside and outside. There's plenty of parking and a really nice outdoor seating area. It's also located within walking distance of a lot of nice shops in Freeport. It has a drive-thru as well. Other than the way it looks and the location it's just a McDonald's. read more

This place is the cutest McDonald's ever! I would go here every day if I lived nearby. How perfect was this old house with hardwood floors and rooms to choose where to sit and enjoy the view. The food was good ----it was regular McDonalds food but seemed better in this place! read more

This has to be the cutest McDonald's I've ever been to! The building is beautifully restored with charming wood floors and even a fireplace, giving it such a cozy feel. Should be able to trust McD to get it right. Doesn't work out that way here. Ordered two apple pies on line but they had none. Was offered a cookies and cream pie and a sundae in their stead. The pie asked me to enjoy it by 5pm today. The current time is 8:45pm. Why use a date and time it gets served after the marked time? There is one person in the whole place, evidently, that cleans the kiosk area, the soda fountain, and the dining areas. The manager had her cleaning an area that could simply be closed off while the kiosk and fountain were a horrible mess. Sticky counters, food and tickets all over the floor and poorly stocked lids and straws. I know it can be done better. I've seen it. Stick to the drive thru where food arrives from a happy hole in the wall and you remain none the wiser to the dark shenanigans within. read more

This is one of the fanciest, if not the fanciest McDonald's I've ever been to. I was also served by one of the nicest employees of any McDonald's ever. I normally don't feel compelled to write reviews for fast food but this was unique. We hadn't been to this McDonald's for years. Our plan was to enjoy a cheeseburger and sit in the front room. If you haven't been to the Freeport McDonald's make a point to visit. This McDonald's is in an old beautiful house. You might pass it if you're looking for the Golden Arches. We were sad but understood the room was closed because of staffing issues. This McDonald's exceeded my expectations. As we were driving here, we almost missed the building because it does not look like your average McDonalds. Built inside an 1850s home, this McDonald's had an ambiance that made me feel like I was having breakfast with Paul Revere himself. The restaurant was clean, and the workers were pleasant and welcoming. The music was liberatingly refreshing. Food was consistent as expected. Overall an enchanting New England experience. Coke here for one reason only. The building is adorable! The McDonalds is built into an old historic home and there isn't any huge signage or Golden Arches like most have. There is a drive though and full ordering inside. It's like having lunch in someone's home!. read more

Five stars for fast food! We stopped one late night after work around 8:30. We were starving and cranky and the staff made everything all better for us. I know you're thinking, but it's McDonalds...yes but the food was FRESH the QPC was so juicy! Yum!!! The fries were HOT!! Had to wait a bit before we could eat them. The staff was so friendly and polite. The drive thru is a bit funky as it wraps around the lot but there was no line, so it was all good. We ate our food in the car so I can't comment on the dining area. I will say the parking lot garbage receptacle was clean and empty so I could actually throw my food away. The parking lot and grounds were very clean and well maintained. If you or family are looking for a quick familiar bite to eat. I recommend this McDonalds. read more

I normally don't review fast food joints, but just have to comment that this particular McDonald's is quite lovely. I know it's only because of zoning laws in Freeport that demand they keep the historical architecture but still...it does make you feel a little bit better about eating more than a day's worth of calories in one sitting. This is probably one of the nicest McDonald's I've been to. After a recent shopping trip at LL Bean, we stopped by for a late snack/dinner. The building looks like a colonial house, and the dining room has "real" dining room chairs like the ones in homes, not the fast food restaurant type. The food is typical McD fare.
