It's an unpretentious place with great service and really yummy burgers and fries and onion rings!

The burgers are tiny. There is barely a patty and it's bland. There are also no topping options besides cheese, bacon, and sauerkraut.

Been wanting to try this place but it is tiny and usually packed when I walk by, today I lucked out…read moreso here we are. It is a tiny bar area and some seats at the window, very intimate. You hopefully like the people you are with lol.. I ordered the house .... I originally wanted the melt but it came on TX toast and not rye so I went in another direction. (Nothing against the Texas, I just was craving rye) The bun is so soft, the burger even though cooked through was juicy, the flavors went well together. Did not disappoint and I'll be back to try more, maybe even the melt!!

Just a half block off Commercial Street, this tiny, casual eatery-- with stool and counter seating…read moreinside and actual tables outside-- specializes in smashburgers but offers veggie burgers, lobster rolls, wings, and fish sandwiches as well. They also have a modest selection of well-chosen beers on tap and in cans. -- Bacon Bacon burger: I tried this on two separate visits, once adding caramelized onion to its standard configuration of house patty (a 50-50 blend of beef and pork), block sauce (think spicy ranch), bacon strips, bacon jam, and cheddar. The toppings all worked out great, with the bacon strips the standout by far: plentiful, tinted red from the cure (flavor galore), and both crispy and bendy in the same bite. On the downside, there's a dense bun to get through, diluting the deliciousness and moisture. The pork component in that patty suggests extra juiciness, but on one of the visits it was pretty dry--and smashburgers need not be dry. So I loved one and merely liked the other. I know it's 2026, but $20 for a burger without fries is a little pricey. If you get the love version instead of the like, it's worth it. -- Fries: Old school crinkle cuts cooked hot and crisp, available with sea salt or salt and vinegar. The menu has the smallest at $7, but with the burger it was only $3, a bargain that mitigated the $20 burger price tag. And they were very good. Service was great once, abysmal once (long wait for the check, long wait to pick up my credit card). On a third try in between, I sat on a stool for about 15 minutes trying to get noticed and wound up leaving. Lots of chitchat among the servers, both out front and back in the kitchen. Service doesn't seem to be something management prioritizes. So there's some good, some great, and some not-so-great. Could be a 3 or a 4, but I'm optimistically rounding up based on the excellent first experience and generally good food quality.

When I eat at a hotel restaurant, I usually don't have high expectations. City Farmhouse defied my…read moreexpectations. The food was so flavorful, quickly prepared, and very creative with its presentation. Local sourcing and very high-quality ingredients. The service was on point, the ambiance was warm and relaxing, and the value was more than reasonable. The same meal in Portland would have easily cost forty percent more. I wish I had taken pictures of the meal, but I was tired and hungry and just forgot. My burger and fries were spot on. The fries stayed crispy from the beginning to the end. The burger meat was fresh and very tasty. The dessert was next level, and I did get a picture before eating it, lol. Whether you stay at the hotel or not, City Farmhouse is always an excellent choice.

The lunch menu appeared interesting however it took so long to get our food and when it finally was served several items that supposedly came with the meal were "unavailable". Since we were the only people in the restaurant we could not understand why it took forever to get our food. Each of us was disappointed when it did come. My fish sandwich had very little fish in it and what there was was strangely "rubbery". What would normally be an hour's lunch took two hours by the time we got our food and ate. We could not understand what was going on in the kitchen. Our server was pleasant but it did not make up for the overall experience. Will not return.

This beer release brought my wife and I for our visit today. As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!

My friend and I split a few appetizers - the mezze plate (falafel, hummus, veggies, pita bread), the honey barbecue chicken wings, and fries. The portions were very generous and everything was tasty. Not exceptional but definitely good quality and quantity for what you pay for. My vodka seltzer was also very good - I got the strawberry lemonade flavor and it was light and refreshing. On the side of the restaurant we sat on, you order your food at the bar but it gets brought out to your table. Service was prompt and friendly. All in all a good experience!
