    My friend and poutine
    Jess B.

Nosh has done it again - an incredible experience, service, and ambiance. I went for lunch today (Friday) at 1pm and was seated immediately. I didn't even have to wait for my friend to be seated which is always nice as I had time to have a drink while waiting. My service was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and food and drink specials. They had a DIPA beer, a cocktail, one food item, and one dessert item on special today. I got to try the food special which was a hot and sweet burger - double patty with pepper jack, lettuce, chipotle aioli, and hot honey. I added pickles and got the Parmesan truffle fries. Both the burger and fries were mouthwatering delicious. For my drinks I got the Dirigorita which was basically a margarita with apple cider, maple syrup, citrus and a cinnamon sugar rim. I had to have three they were so good. My friend had the poutine which was with vegetable gravy, mushrooms, cheese curds, and their hand-cut fries. Everything was so delicious. Every experience here has been awesome. The entire establishment (entrance, seats, bathrooms) are handicap accessible. It was quiet and slightly empty in the restaurant upon arrival. By 2:30pm they were full but it was not too loud to have a conversation. They do not have their own parking lot but there is a ton of nearby street parking or paid parking lots. Street parking you have to pay Monday-Saturday only until 6pm. It is much cheaper than the 24/7 paid lots. I love the seasonal menu changes but consistent staples on the menu. It is walking distance to a ton of shops, coffee places, and restaurants. I would definitely recommend going to Nosh!

    Lobster Rangoon

Came to Nosh when we realized the intended restaurant for the night was actually closed haha. We were seated without any wait. Started off dinner with the lobster rangoons (6 pieces) and a side of sweet and sour sauce. The rangoons were thicc boys with quite a bit of cream cheese but a good amount of lobster. I got the Sweet & Spicy burger sub fries instead of a salad for $2. The burger was gas and surprisingly had two smash patties! The flavors worked beautifully, however I would not say this was spicy. I had to work quickly because the sesame buns were doing their best to hold up. Also, thought the one side of pickle was funny. My friend got the 20 hour pork, which was accompanied by maque choux, spinach, and apple-sage butter. Unfortunately, the pork was not the star of the dish -- tender but not that much flavor. The sides were really tasty though. Get the drinks here!! I had the Lurch cocktail, which was smooth, sweet, and a little hint of spice. My friend got the Penicillin (I forgot what was in it), but it was a little strong, still good tho. The ambiance at night is really cozy and dim. The space is large, and the bathrooms were clean. Staff were very attentive and friendly!

Large long bar area, with nice atmosphere inside. They have a couple tables outside but not to much space. They have some crafty cocktails, beer and wine selection. It used to be a burger place but now I believe it is more of just a regular bar. They have elevated bar food that is a little pricey. We got the fried pickles and the pretzel bites and they were really good. I would stop here in for a drink and apps, at the bar but probably not for a sit down meal. You can typically get in cause it's not to busy.

I was here once before, years ago. Weird that I haven't been back until now seeing as I live so close now. Anyway, I was really pleased with my meal. I sat at the bar which is not something I usually do, and had a ... cocktail, a Diamond something. I sort of expected to be able to find the drinks menu online but I can't haha. It was very good - very strong for its size. I was warm enough on my walk home, to be sure. I also got the fried chicken sandwich which was immensely satisfying. I ordered it with the salad, which was lightly dressed. The chicken was an enormous hunk of meat with a thick, crispy coating that did its part in soaking up the alcohol. Just all around excellent. I'll be back, soon. :)

The SO was so hangry and wanted a burger AND a pizza. What a coincidence that when scrolling through the menu we come across the Slab Burger... a nosh burger and and fixin's between two halves of a cheese hand slab?? We ordered the slab burger, regular burger, and the dunkaroos because he "loves dunkaroos". I wavered on the rating because it seemed like the food was more on the fun side than it was the good side. There was the novelty of the pizza burger and the nostalgia of the dessert, but at the end of the day the best part of the slab burger was the slab pizza. The nosh burger itself was fairly bland and unimpressive and for a $12 burger, I really expected more! Same story with the dunkaroos -- exciting to order but 2 bites and we were done. Perhaps it was the to go ness of it that deflated the taste but it was just way too expensive and not that good to want to go back. Their saving grace were the fries. They were simple salt and pepper fries but they packed great flavor. The SO is particular about his fries and they were his favorite, so that's a big set of points to them.

Love the burger choices and citrus Sangria!! So many beer choices and it is a local hangout as we witnessed! The nosh fries dusted with bacon are crisp and lots of sauce choices... so good!! Farther up in Old Port but definitely worth a visit!

The best thing about this place was that there was hot water in the bathroom to wash you hands. We used to go here every year. And the food used to be great. Now it is unremarkable and expensive. The service was so-so. I felt bad the waitress was the only one on the floor. Hostess, waitress, bus person. Just her. So I didn't fault her for taking forever for the food to show up. I still gave her a 15% tip. I say poor management for bad staffing. The menu said add fries for $2. Should say "substitute". Needless to say, I need a new restaurant in Portland now. Maybe the Indian place down the street.

    Double-double burger with salad

Their menu is different than a lot of the reviews I saw so check the website for the updated menu. Overall food is pretty good but just a little pricey. The double-double burger was well cooked. The salad has a nice vinaigrette sauce. The fried chicken sandwich was over battered but the chicken thigh was a good choice for a patty. The fries were perfectly cooked unlike other reviews said. I was worried when I ordered but turned out solid.

So had late lunch with my son. He said he wanted a burger and heard that Nosh was a great burger place. I had never been so was curious as to how he heard about Nosh. "While I was in the detention center. Some kid was really exited about it and suggested it. So that was good enough for me. So off we go. It was pretty quiet for the afternoon. The space is pretty big for a city location. Lots of seating. And windows for great people viewing. The staff is very friendly and attentive to serving us. The menu is pretty diverse for a burger place. They also have various sandwiches and fries too. I am not a burger guy but my son wanted to go and wanted me to eat a burger so we can both assess the burgers. Well, the burgers were awesome. I did not expect how impressed I would be. Wow. We both were impressed with the burgers. Then let's talk about the fries. Bacon dust fries. Yeah. Freak'n awesome Loved the fries and the burger. 100% We talked about the burgers all the way home. My son gave it 2 thumbs up!

Room for Improvement has been around for quite awhile at this point and I have heard nothing but positive about it. My wife and I finally made the time to come here and glad we did. With it being Halloween they have a special theme this week called Doom for Improvement so we thought it was the perfect time to visit! We showed up at opening for a spot to beat Halloween crowd on wharf street. I was reminded of Jager right away in the sense it felt familiar while also feeling new. They decked it out with Halloween decorations and bartenders were dressed up. We had Bojack Horseman serving us who was a top notch bartender, friendly, answered any questions and had good vibes! My wife tried their Pineapple Daiquiri and their Espresso Martini. I went with the Halloween themed drinks and got the Rest In Peeses that was a peanut butter (Reese's) themed Old Fashioned. Secondly I grabbed their Plenty Evil that was inspired by the Good & Plenty candy Absinthe Frappe. My wife's drinks were phenomenal and would both be go to orders for her and we both found a new favorite Espresso Martini. My first drink nailed the perfect mix of peanut butter flavor with a classic Old Fashioned. Secondly despite not being a huge licorice/good & plenty candy this drink was delicious! I look forward to returning for a non Halloween themed visit but we were both extremely impressed. If you are looking for a bar to grab drinks and want a nice and chill vibe this is your spot. Expect friendly bartenders who make high quality drinks!

What could be better than a dumpling lounge? We just went for the first time and were blown away. The ambiance of the place is unique. It feels like a chic timeless but retro speakeasy with the fun atmosphere of a tiki bar. Dark red and black colors, floral art, Art Deco chandeliers, lacquered tables, kitsch and fun cheetah lamps and statues. It immediately put a smile on our faces. The food is also unique. Dim sum for dinner but with more sophisticated twists and better quality than you'll find in most Chinatowns. You start by getting a dish with three different dipping sauces for the dumplings. The hot and sour soup was rich in peanut flavor, filled with tofu, mushrooms, and seaweed, with a cumulative little kick of spiciness. It was a great start and a major cut above anything we've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The sichuan cucumber salad are Chinese cucumbers innovatively cut into a spiral like a slinky or coil spring. You pick them up with chopsticks and they spring up and down! Served in a horseradish and pepper coulis, they had a spicy kick. Don't miss the mojo baby corn. It's grilled, crispy, and addictive. You'll want a bucket of it when watching a movie. Steamed soup dumplings are filled with ham or prosciutto, a nicely salty and meaty twist on the standard ones. Steamed mushroom and truffle dumplings are probably the closest to traditional dim sum, rich, flavorful, and packed with shrooms. Crab and lobster lucky bags were deep fried wontons filled with a mix of ground lobster and crab, on a bed of crème fraiche with scallions. A great contrast with the crispy salty shell and soft filling! Our favorite was the sesame beef bao. They look like the traditional sesame balls in Chinese restaurants, crispy on the outside, pillowy soft inside but filled with brisket! They were mouth wateringly delicious! There was a selection of larger entrée plates that looked good (fried rice, lo mein, crispy chicken) that we didn't try but will next time. The drink menu was three pages long. Every kind of creative cocktail you can imagine, a long list of wines and sparking drinks, at prices from reasonable to 'special occasion.' For the atmosphere and ambiance, it seemed like cocktails or sparkling wine went best. All the staff and the manager couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming. They made us feel like old friends. Their warmth was genuine, we were sincerely touched by their friendliness. We were smiling and laughing the whole time, and amazed at how delicious the food was. It's unique. It's so much more than just a delicious meal. Going here is truly an experience, one that we'll remember for a long time and want to repeat often. It's an incredibly special place, and you feel special being here. You won't find a place like this outside of New York City, but here it is in Portland. We're going to go back often and regularly.

Fast-forward to now: I was walking around with a friend and we felt like having a drink, and Cuties was right nearby. I decided to give it another shot, and I'm glad I did because my experience was incredibly better. First of all, the place felt a lot more welcoming and less overwhelming. I finally had a chance to look at all the decor and details, and my eyes were FEASTING on the colorful touches and funky vibes. Our server was very nice, and even though we only ordered one drink and definitely stayed there for a good amount of time, he wasn't pushy in any way. My cocktail, the Wink n Nod, was soooo good. It had vodka, gin, manzanilla, olives, and pickled Fresno brine. The result was a yummy concoction with a punch, one that I could savor and not slurp in ten seconds. That said, I gotta say I was surprised by how busy the place was given how early we went. It wasn't even 4pm. I don't think I would come back in the summer or during peak hours because I could definitely see them getting busy, just like during their opening weekend, and having an entirely different experience. Note: Although I didn't try any, I was happily impressed by the food options and non-alcoholic options. A true all-day bar!
