Here for a cousin's birthday. I heard it was good but was not impressed. It's a sports bar and looks like a fun place. The server greeted us right away and took our order. However, it took more than 40 minutes for our food to arrive and no one stopped by to let us know how much longer it would be. It wasn't busy at the time. When the food arrived it was adequate but not great. Most of the food was overcooked and obviously sitting for a while. The fish in the fish and chips was way overcooked. The fries for all of us were over done, dry and hard (and just warm). My mushroom and goat cheese burger was under done from my request for medium, barely warm and had an overwhelming amount of goat cheese. The mushrooms were great. Selection of food and appetizers was good although we didn't sample. I don't think we will be back. read more

Did a happy hour with dinner and dinner was good. I had the pork street tacos with sweet potato tots. The tots were crispy and flavorful. The street tacos were pretty good. Were they the best I've had? No, but there is lots of topping on them and it all works. The night we were there they had trivia, but we didn't end up playing. Looks like they tried to have different events each night whether it be trivia, music, etc. Lots of TVs that would be great if we were there to watch a game. read more

Cowbell has SO much going for it - big open sports bar with huge TVs playing every sport imaginable, great menu with unique takes on burgers and bar snacks, gorgeous bar with plenty of local drafts and too many spirits to choose from, a killer happy hour, and even a little patio across the road with a nice view of the quarry. If there is one thing that prevents Cowbell from being great, it's consistency in quality of food and service. Once they figure all that out, it's a 5 star spot. The burgers here are absolutely stellar when they get the cook temp correct. We've had a perfect medium rare that was to die for, and then a medium rare that had no pink and was dry as a bone. Same with the sweet potato tater tots - they are one of my favorite things ever, but they'll burn them sometimes and make them totally inedible. The food usually takes a while to come out and the prices are a little steep but when they get it right, it's totally worth it. $6 Margarita Mondays here are a gift, especially because the marg is absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. I would put it up there in quality with the Mexican spot across the street. They also have other food and drink specials throughout the week and every weekday from 4pm til 6pm (I think). I've driven by a few times. Was in the area so it thought today would be the day to actually go in. In the mood for a burger and Cowbell delivered. I had the Magic Mushroom with sweet potato tots. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Branding is a cute touch. The tots were tasty. There's a nice draft menu. The restaurant is comfortable and, this being a Monday afternoon, even without football or hockey, a nice place to visit. I think it would be an even better place to catch a game. read more

The good news, the food was the highlight of our visit! All of the food tasted great and the portions were just right Great variety of pub type of food a lot of it customizable as well. Our server was great. Very efficent, no drinks went empty during our visit. She was pleasant and attentive. The splitting of the bill got a little confusing for her, but it was ok, it all balanced out at the end. The ambiance was ok...not super comfortable if you want to stay for a while the high chairs seemed a bit wobbly. The music....not great for us. The music was blaringly loud and only one genre, which annoyed more than half of my party. At the end of the day, we had a great meal with great friends. Easy parking and were seated right away. Oh man. I want to love this place. The TV's the sports and the ambiance. Here is what we did not like. The food or service. We just ordered apps and got cauliflower wings and some pickle chips. They were so cold ... the cauliflower was like rubber and the pickle chips were no flavor and cold as well. The service was something that I didn't expect. The two bartenders would rather have been elsewhere obviously by them really having no personality as people were piling in for March madness. It was sad because it would have been a great opportunity to connect and make great money. The bathrooms were clean and new. Like I said I wanted to love it but I am just calling it as I see it. If it's not obvious, I have a mixed relationship with Cowbell. It's the best place in the greater Portland area for actual football watching. It essentially mimics a slick Vegas sports betting parlor (far slicker than the actual Portland betting parlor Oddfellows). But the food and service can be iffy, along with higher prices. Yesterday was a good day. The burger was more medium than the ordered medium-rare, but was still delicious. The fries appeared hand cut, a huge upgrade from the frozen of most sports bars. Service was fine, and the beer was great, but pricey (an $11 Bissell Lux, come on!). If Cowbell can ever nail their consistency, they'd be a no-brainer recommendation. But for local football fans, it's still one of the best options. read more

The meaty tenders were very good, and so was the border, but the fries were dry and seemed like an afterthought. A plus is that the menu has good variety in terms of different types of burgers and sandwiches. The appetizers weren't super enticing; I was surprised they didn't have any mozzarella sticks! Service took a looong time considering the place was pretty empty on a weekend afternoon. I want to share my experience with Cowbell in Westbrook because it has been disappointing from start to finish. On Trivia Night, I came with 5 friends. Everyone's food arrived except mine -- my wings took 15 minutes longer, and by the time they came out my friends were already done eating. When I voiced my frustration, the service manager didn't apologize or offer any gesture to make up for the failure. After I posted a Google review, Cowbell management replied publicly, apologizing and asking me to email them so they could "make it right." I did exactly that, attaching my receipt and explaining the situation. The district manager, Travis Sanipas, responded on November 28 saying he would "look into it and get back to me." It's now been well over a week, and despite a polite follow‑up email, I've received no update, no apology, and no resolution. The original service was bad, the public response promised accountability, and the district manager's reply led nowhere. This is disappointing all the way around -- not just poor service, but poor follow‑through when a customer tries to give them a chance to fix it. read more

This was a mediocre burger at best--honestly comparable to or slightly worse than what you'd get at Applebee's. Both mine and my wife's burgers came out overcooked, resembling burnt hockey pucks. Ordered DoorDash from this restaurant while staying in town for business. I had the Yawkey way along with the poutine cowbell style. Both were excellent. The sausage was flavorful and the peppers/onions really made it pop. The poutine was really good. The gravy compliments the cheese and fries. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

My expectations were low considering a lot of mentions of poor service and food by other reviews. Maybe we lucked out showing up decently early on a Saturday that wasn't busy. Less than 10 total customers and service was fast and got our food quickly. My fiancée got their Thanksgiving Burger (a great option if you have a craving for a Thanksgiving sandwich anytime of the year) and I got their Brisket-nator. I asked for it medium rare and I'd say it was a little closer to medium but the taste was good. It is an extremely large burger with the onion rings and brisket on it. The fries could use some more seasoning as they were a little bland. I will say this place is exactly what it looks like inside, it is a sports bar with a heavy focus on large tvs with all the games being played. A decent spot if you want to grab a drink and watch a game! Service may be slow during their busy times though. I'd return to try some more burgers in the future or get the Thanksgiving one! read more

They asked me how I liked my burgers cooked, then gave me patties so thin, it didn't really matter. Furthermore, not only do they serve a pitiful amount of fries with their burgers, from my experience, the fries were unforgivably awful. Many of them were greasy, soggy, and some were even cold. The fried pickles are one of their best appetizers. They have the right amount of spiciness, fried to perfection (not overly cooked), and the tangy sauce compliments the fried pickles well. The staff and management here are really friendly. The environment is very casual here. read more

This place is almost a 4. There are so many good things! They have live music which is always my favorite. They do fun things: trivia on Tuesdays, Wine Wednesday where you get 25% off a bottle, and whiskey Thursdays. They have large TVs where you can watch the game. The inside is beautiful and they have a large bar. The 3 is for the food. It's okay but not great. We have had the burgers a couple times and they are always over done and pretty dry. The fries are decent. I got the Mac and cheese and it was good but also not great (and quite pricey). I will keep coming back to try more food but the burgers which is their most popular is just not my favorite. read more

The Bison burger is dry but it is a lean meat so it takes skill and tricks to make Bison/ lean Turkey second tier when cooking it. The most surprising part was the turnaround time was almost 2 hours and it said that before ordering so I was glad I had stuff to do while I waited. This place was generally okay. It was clearly new and the staff was working super hard to accommodate the MANY customers that they had and a lot of them were just kids so good on them! We did wait about an hour for our food... I had a burger and it was good! They had a gluten free bun option which was helpful but I would love to see them add a gluten free fryer so that they can cater to the growing number of gluten free individuals that would also LOVE fries or tater tots with their burgers. Overall positive reviews on the food! The overall ambiance was, in my opinion , a bit chaotic. The tables were packed very closely together and i noticed an upstairs area that was empty and appeared to have a bar in it? It seems that could be better utilized for extra seating as there are 2 other bars on the ground floor. There were a TON of people there and even though the space seems large it was pretty tight. You kind of had to weave in between people to get to the bathroom in the back. The have a TON of tvs (the whole high ceiling wall behind the bar) which I'm sure would be great for watching sports games with friends. A cool place with staff that's working hard! Now the bad. - Beer prices are on par with what I'm used to (In Boston). $12 for a mixed drink. $9 for a beer I can buy cheaper that was brewed a mile down the road. - The food. I thought it was a simple order. Cheeseburger on a brioche bun. Medium cooked. Not looking for rare but I'd like some color to it. I would have hated to know what medium well or well done tasted like. My burger tasted like I was biting into a hockey puck. Patty was clearly frozen which is fine if it tastes good but the patty was burnt and lacked taste. The cheese looked like the orange cheese you buy at the grocery store and was super thin. Didn't even cover the full patty. Lastly the fries were meh. And I saw someone else order wings and they came by visibly burnt. If it were busy when I went and this could be explained away that's one thing. But it wasn't busy. So to be this poor quality is a sign I won't be back to eat. read more

Solid choice for dinner or lunch. Service is friendly and the pub food is good. Atmosphere is great and it's obvious a lot of thought and money went into the design of the space. I think many will find the prices a little higher than expected for what is primarily a burger restaurant, but not outrageous. I recommend the pub pretzels with beer cheese. I recently had the buffalo chicken salad which, while not extraordinary, was satisfactory. My companion had the steak salad and felt similarly. I think they could elevate their salads, but most people probably are not going there for salad. I'm not a beer/cocktail person but they obviously have a great looking bar if that's your thing. The entire staff are incredibly nice. The food was so good that I can't wait to go back. Loved the environment. Great seats to view TV's no matter where you sit. The menu selection is insane! My whole dinner party couldn't decide what we wanted to try first. We couldn't pass up ordering some appetizers, too. The fried pickles are really good, different than the usual fried pickles. They are bread and butter pickles. A couple of people in our party are not fans of bread and butter pickles, but they loved the fried pickles. Very tasty and unique. The onion rings are great! We also had burgers and chicken wings. We were not disappointed at all with any part of our visit. By the way, they also have a great options for vegetarians or people who eat meat, but not red meat. Look at the menus I posted. The parking is free. There's a larger parking lot that is a short distance from the restaurant. Minimal parking in front of the restaurant. There's a takeout entrance and an entrance for dining in. We walked in the wrong door, but they must get that a lot, because they're very nice about it. Very positive experience. The food was so good I forgot to take pics! The burger with a brisket is exceptionally good. Yes, it is a brisket on top of a burger.
