Recently I have had the pleasure of dinning at the Skybox for both lunch & dinner…read more Too often these days, I have I left an establishment thinking I wished I'd spent my money elsewhere or simply ate at home. The days where restaurants were grateful to have you as patron & treated you that way to earn your continued patronage, seem to be part of the good ole days gone by. That is not the case with The Skybox Grill. I went once on a weekday & once on a hopping Friday night. Both times I left full & happy. If you're into that "Cheers" feeling, this is your place. The staff is so welcoming & kind. You feel good being there with the lively atmosphere & great people all around & the delicious food puts it a step above the rest. On the weekday lunch visit, I saw moms & kids, families, business men/women, folks at the bar glued to the game & those sitting by theirselves with their newspaper as their companion. All appeared to be welcome & content. The prices are comparable with others, but the quality & consistency of their food is much better. The portions are large enough to share or take home leftovers for another meal. The fresh made food is so yummy & getting fresh, quality food for the same as you'd spend at a fast food joint these days, makes it the perfect spot to have a great meal or grab to go that's a cut above the rest. Often, they host fundraising events in support of the local communities or have fun bands & always there is more than 15 tvs with all the sports going. Somehow, they're able to have everything in one, that works so completely cohesively. It's the perfect go to for brunch, lunch, dinner or a lively date night out. Wether you're the whole family full of kids, a lady lunching with friends, a guy grabbing a quick lunch, a couple on a date night or a whole group of friends meeting up for a night out, this place is perfect. Super safe and just minutes outside of Memphis, it's not only a gem for the Collierville folks, but easily accessible for the whole Memphis area. Perfect for taking out of town guest for a relaxed & casual dining experience too. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!

So much that I usually make little happy dances and pleasure sounds while eating. I don't even care who sees me either. There is more soul in this little gas station restaurant than anywhere within twenty miles. This is Soul Food at its best. You may ask how I can call Mexican food, Soul Food...? Here is my take... Soul Food, to me, is much more than a "type of food". Don't get me crooked, I am all about some OxTail's, Smothered Pork Chops, Chicken & Dressing, Turkey Necks, Greens, Cornbread, etc. etc. etc. It's about food made with love, by people who love to make food, with techniques and seasonings handed down through generations of good people. That is what you get here! Every time I eat here I am filled with the love of the folks in the kitchen as well as their ancestors. It's a small family business, and Tony is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. He is so happy to be in his little section of this gas station slinging this heavenly food. I drive 40 minutes each way from work to eat here and as soon as I leave I cannot wait to get back. It's that damn good! Everything is great, but you have to try the Carnitas! Life changing flavor! I have watched it evolve, but not really, over the years. It's gotten better. I've been hitting up this place in Midtown and Snowden for years. This was my first time at this location. No frills, simple, to the point place. No need in any fancy ass lights, music, flair on the staff, overcomplicated menu items, or any other BS. There were only two ladies working here this day. I was impressed at their ability to pull off the shift as I sat and watched. The owner needs to increase the pay of these two. He has no idea how lucky he is to have them. They were awesome, I wish I knew their names. They sell a smashed type burger that is real meat, seasoned well, cooked wonderfully every time, with a side of fries that although are not fresh cut, they are pretty dang tasty. Battered fries is what I believe the term is. The coating helps them stay crisp and hot for longer. Nice invention really. Most toppings are free and it's actually very reasonable meal for today's food climate. They had a couple of specials this last time. The Cowboy and The Rajun Cajun. I had The Cowboy and it was fantastic!! Bacon, cheddar, onion rings. Yum! I will be back to try the Cajun Junt soon!! '25 - 68/111
