I am sad to update downward. We have been visiting for a few years now on trips with more consistent less favorable experiences. Too often it's been overly salted, dry and just overall not as good as our first several trips. Tried many different dishes breakfast and lunch and same issues. Its quality of ingredients especially meat and attention to recipes has lowered. Maybe there is newer staff idk but after breakfast today my order being wrong again and not tasty again, I'm done trying. I want more than just a semi full belly. I am in love with this man's food! I do not say this as lip service. I truly love this food. It makes my insides happy and all tingly! So much that I usually make little happy dances and pleasure sounds while eating. I don't even care who sees me either. There is more soul in this little gas station restaurant than anywhere within twenty miles. This is Soul Food at its best. You may ask how I can call Mexican food, Soul Food...? Here is my take... Soul Food, to me, is much more than a "type of food". Don't get me crooked, I am all about some OxTail's, Smothered Pork Chops, Chicken & Dressing, Turkey Necks, Greens, Cornbread, etc. etc. etc. It's about food made with love, by people who love to make food, with techniques and seasonings handed down through generations of good people. That is what you get here! Every time I eat here I am filled with the love of the folks in the kitchen as well as their ancestors. It's a small family business, and Tony is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. He is so happy to be in his little section of this gas station slinging this heavenly food. These hidden gems are the reason Yelp exist. This place is inside of a gas station. Plenty of parking but no outside signs that let you know this place exist. This venue only accepts cash but you can pay with credit card if you go to the gas station side. Also, they do not sell drinks so you need to get your drinks from the gas station section. I ordered 2 churros and a Large Chorizo quesadilla. The churros are pretty long, coated in cinnamon sugar and have a cream filling. The quesadilla is a nice size and has plenty of protein. This humble little taco stand inside a gas station convenience store ranks high on my list of must-stops anytime I'm in the Memphis area. I always get an egg and chorizo breakfast taco or two. Don't know knock Gas Station restaurants until you've tried them! We read so many reviews and knew we had to visit Tony's Tacos for lunch. It was a Saturday and they were pretty busy. We dined in and split the Asada plate with beans and WOW! It blew me away. For dessert we had the churros and while I'm not a churro expert - it was the best I've ever had. It was crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. We had a long chat with Tony and learned his history. He graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College. He works along side his wife of over 30 years. They are adorable. Looks can be deceiving when you drive up to a gas station and that is where the restaurant is nestled. The chips, queso with chorizo - phenomenal and the "Diablo salsa" I wish I could buy by the gallon. Flavorful with a warm habenero burn on the back end. You cannot go wrong here with anything you get. I was told their breakfast was to die for but we arrived too late and they are closed on Sunday. Thank you, Tony, for taking time to speak with us and for the fantastic food! So savory and delicious! So the chips aren't free actually. They're $6. I guess if Tony's there you may get a free order. Ring the cowbell if nobody is there. Usually they're in the back and on the phone so ring it loud and proud. The burritos have no beans and rice which is great for us. That means more meat. And I think there's more meat in his burritos than other places. Bring cash and pay at their counter as there's no tax added. Otherwise you gotta go to the convenience store side to pay. And there's tax. Tacos are small. Like two bites small. At least the corn tortillas ones are like that. I recall the flour ones are slightly bigger but also cost about a buck more. Tamales were ok. Not the best I've ever had though. But ok. Burrito and quesadillas were good. I like how they put the sear on the tortillas. Staff isn't really engaging other than Tony. I think there's a language barrier. There's a Filipino girl there who's like second in command behind Tony, who comes off as a bit gruff. But actually when you get to shooting the sh*t with her she's ok. The hot sauces are 2 per order. Then it's $0.25 per container after that. And the containers are pretty darn small. On top of that, they are only half way filled too. I don't get the pricing for those. Usually it's free at other places. Maybe a lot of wasters in Collierville so they had to implement the charge. The price is what keeps me from coming here more often. I mean, I'd easily take a $5 craving box at Taco Bell (contains taco, chalupa, 7 layer burrito, cinnamon sticks and soda) for almost the same price of just one pretty small taco here. It's nice for a change of pace and taste. But I can't justify coming here more often unfortunately. Tony don't get greedy. Keep it real and we'll keep loving you. read more

This place has been on my radar for some time, but typically when I'm in Collierville at lunch time, some sort of invisible force leads me straight to Paris Bahn Mi. This time I wanted something different, and Tony's is that. Tony's is all about the food - fresh, delicious and affordable, with fast and efficient service. It is really a bit of a dive. No frills and definitely not a date night destination. (They close at 6 pm, anyway). The food, though. The menu is large, with many selections. I opted for 2 fish tacos and a small cup of elote. For $10, it was a solid and delicious choice. I couldn't even eat all the corn, hard as it was to leave it. Quite a contrast to the fusion taco place in Cordova that my husband & I just tried that was $60 without alcohol. This will be a regular stop for me, I just need to remember to bring cash! read more

This was my first time visiting Tony's tacos. How this has been here so long and I've never tried it, is beyond me. Y'all - Tony us a jewel! If you don't want to come here for the food, come here for the company. When Tony has the time, he loves to come out and visit with his guest. He was full of joy and knowledge, we loved talking with him and learning about his eatery. They make everything from scratch every day. His spot is family owned and operated. They have genuine real Hispanic food - and for my Hispanic heart - this was like a taste from home. The salsa and guacamole was so spot on, the chilaquiles were amazing... great flavor and the tortillas are delicious! Phenomenal job!!! I can't wait to get some tamales.... My friend got the street tacos. She gobbled them right up, too. Tony also brought us out some churros too... they were PERFECT! Crunchy cinnamon on the outside and soft filling on the inside... I was blown away! You have to come early, they don't have a lot of seating. This is attached to a gas station. So it is also loud inside. BEST TAMALES Still loving the authentic Mexican place in Collierville. They also do catering! Cash is faster but you can pay with card. You just have to pay up front and bring the receipt back to the restaurant. It's a quick process and since you may need to wait a bit for your food it's not much of an inconvenience. I was surprised by the fact that I liked their chicken taco. They've added some delightful seasoning to it that makes it delish! The al pastor taco was good but I've had better. I really loved the salsa verde! The Mexican Rice has that wonderful made-from-scratch look that I love so I had to try that too. The tamal was legit but it wasn't the kind I liked so I'll skip it next time and try the cheese one next time. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical of the tamales de puerco because usually I'm not a big salsa roja fan but MAN was I wrong. The tamales here are PHENOMENAL. Like I think I want to try all their tamales now because of this one. It was just the best. I thought I would give this place a try since they had a rare 5 star rating. It didn't look promising when I arrived. A Mexican restaurant in a gas station? The clerk was a bit surly when I paid for my to go meal. I said to myself, this is going to have to be really good for me to go back again. Then I got home and tried it. The verdict? I had a taste for tacos, so decided to give Tonny's Tacos based on previous reviews. Thankfully, there wasn't a line when I arrived and I was able to easily place my order. I ordered the shrimp tacos and decided to give their guacamole a try. The guacamole came out first. The chips were good and had an amazing crunch to them. The guacamole on the other hand was just basic...nothing to write home about. There was no flavor whatsoever and needed salt. The shrimp tacos were okay. They lacked flavor, so I had to rely on the spicy sauce. I'm glad I got the chance to give them a try. However, I must confess - this was definitely not ranked high on the list for me. read more

My 4th and last time going here. I am not sure what the cashiers problem is! But she sure has one of the worstttttt attitude and it's been every time we go there! Which will cost them future business. After spending $60+ here and just wanting to enjoy dinner with my family, that was far from it. The tacos are always great, small but great. But the guacamole she gave us was expired and had a sour taste. She just kept staring at us whenever we were waiting to order and let some man standing over to the side who knew her go before us. Went back to order a rice, she never came back out. It was 30 minutes till closing, she sends another lady out to put the closed sign up front. My mom couldn't get a Togo box or Togo sauces. This little treasure is hidden in a Shell gas station in Collierville. I am really not one to find a meal at a gas station but the FB chatter has been amazing. So off I went. The staff was super friendly and answered all of our questions. I got a burrito with chicken and my son got 4 chicken tacos. My son REALLY enjoyed the food. So much so that he ate his tacos and took about half of my burrito. The burrito is a really nice size. You can get a small or large burrito (I got the L). Food came out very quick. I love this little space tucked away in a gas station. The workers seem so appreciative of their new found crowds! It is a small space. There are 4 tables if you want to eat in. You cannot get any better than Tonny's tacos! They are made fresh, the salsas/sauces they provide are hot and exactly like what you would find from a Mexican street vendor. We order from Tonny's as often as we can, with one of our favorites being the Chorizo/beef blended tacos. I am also a HUGE fan of their Al Pastor. I have heard you can get your tacos "all the way" which is when they are topped with homemade queso - while I have not tried this yet, I am going to the next time I order here. The location is small, it is in a gas station, but the people and the food are out of this world! read more

For a gas station restaurant this place is a diamond in the rough. For $7.50 you can get three delicious freshly made tacos with onions and a pepper on the side and fresh lemon. I will be traveling back through her in the next couple of weeks and I plan on trying their tamales.
