Steak escape is a gem of a restaurant.. one of the few that still serves food hot and made to order. Today my son and I were out school shopping and decided on Steak Escape for lunch. I ordered the 6" Ragin' Cajun chicken sandwich and he had the 9" Triple Steak sandwich. We had fries and drinks as well. That's important to know as their items are rung up separately and not as a meal or combo. Also, you have to specify what condiments you want on your sandwich. Our total came to a little over $34. I didn't mind that because the food is always delicious. The establishment is always clean (as a matter of fact-when we went I today, one of the workers was actually on a ladder wiping down walls and cleaning other hard to reach areas). 7-9-26 I was here for lunch. I ordered the Triple Cheese Steak Sandwich and Fries. Boy, I wish that I didn't come back here. The sandwich was a cheese sandwich with hardly no steak. Being that i'm critical when it comes to certain foods like Cheesesteaks Bierocks or Italian. I'm very critical for the reason that. I'm not a fan of imitators when it comes to a chain or a local place that tries to sell me off on some half assed version of a regional or ethnic dish. I want the real deal. But a league buddy & classmate of mine from Philly convinced me to try this place telling me it's like what I've grown up on back home & they make some wicked good fries. So on his word alone I decided to try Steak Escape out. The next day I came in for my very first visit to Steak Escape. I noticed that the store was clean & spotless. The cashiers up front were friendly & eager to take my order so I looked up at the menu & said I wanted Cheesesteak 16in with fries. The chef promptly took my order & started cooking my steak & dropping the fries with fast percision. When my order came out I was very impressed. The presentation of my meal was awesome & looked like the real deal I was use to since I was a kid. now the real question is. Does it taste like the real deal? So I took a bite into my hot piping fresh Cheesesteak & I was impressed with it's taste. It came very close to the real deal & they get very big props for that. The cut fries lets just say I was smiling & wanting a 2lb order to go. They are the most killer fries when mixed with malt vinegar. This is a solid place to grab a quick bite while you're in the area. The fries were great & you can tell they were made from real fresh potatoes and hand-cut. You can add seasoning salt to it to your own preference like I did. I don't normally get cookies at sub restaurants but I'm so glad I did because this chocolate chip cookie was delicious - very chewy & I got it when they were just made fresh. I got the grand escape which is similar to a Philly cheesesteak - added pickles and mayo to it. The workers were very nice and accommodating to my order when I asked for substitutions to my sandwich. COVID related - many tables were removed to accommodate for social distancing and there was always a worker cleaning the tables after every dine-in customer. Drink station and restrooms were also very clean. There is a plastic barrier between where you order and the customer & all the workers were wearing masks. Changing 5 star to 3 star. After a few lunch visits the last two months, I've been disappointed with both speed and accuracy of orders. This is a great spot to swing by and eat at when you're in the area. Not only do the cheesesteaks here slap, but the fries are amazing. The fries are nice and fresh with a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior, which is, in my opinion, the best. My favorite cheesesteak here would probably have to be the Grand Escape because what can beat a classic cheesesteak? The workers were very nice and accommodating to any changes or substitutions in my orders, and always greeted me with a smile when I came in through the door and thanked me for my purchases. In regards to COVID-19, the workers/staff have made tremendous strides to keep the restaurant as safe as possible. All the employees wear their masks properly, the tables are spaced 6 feet apart, and the restaurant is kept clean. My wife and I eat here at least once a week. My wife loves Grand Escape. I like the Bourbon and BBQ, Siriacha and just plain BBQ sandwich. Best thing I like about the sandwiches is the fresh bread. Fries are cut and soaked in water. Always fresh fries. The only other thing I've ordered was the baked potato and it wasn't that great. I'll stick to the fries. I always get my order to go. On Sunday 2-24-24 I ordered two Bourbon cheese steaks with peppers. When I got home both sandwiches had mayo and tomatoes on them that I did not request. It ruined the sandwiches. I did not call that time. Tonight I reordered two sandwiches but when I got home there was only one in the bag. When I called the owner answered the phone. She kept talking to others without putting me on hold, very annoying. When I told her I only got one sandwich I was told they saw the receipt said two but the new system only said one. Instead of checking with me they only made one sandwich. On the phone she was very curt and never apologized. She acted as if refunding my order made everything alright. I was in shock that she was so rude. When I told her she was being rude she started talking over me saying I dont know how I am being rude very loudly. I believe her, she has no clue what customer service is. They have ruined our dinner twice in a week but as long I get a refund I should be happy. This place no longers cares about the customer! I love this location. It is always clean, staff is friendly, and the owner is always present. I drive from Cordova to this location and usually eat in. It is never overly crowded, but I enjoy that. If I am eating in, I know I will have a quiet lunch without the noise of shoppers (mall) or loud employees ( other location). The grandest chicken and grand steak ( I think that's the name..I know it when I see the menu!) those are my go to choices along with those addicting fries. I'm ashamed to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway.. sometimes I order two fries and take the other home. Today I ordered a pick up order from this location which I usually love and have been going to did years. The manager is a small Asian lady and was taking orders. I started off letting her know I was having trouble comprehending her. She took my order and said it back to me where I again told her I'm sorry but I'm having trouble understanding what you're saying. Upon arrival I noticed she got the wrong order, usually not a big deal I asked her to correct my order. She continued to quiz me on why the order was correct and I told her again I do not comprehend your dialogue I apologize but I didn't know what you were saying. She kept yelling at me asking if I still couldn't comprehend her as to where I respectfully again said no. She continued to scream and ask if I could hear her. She told me I was not allowed to call in to go orders anymore if She is going to have to correct them. I crave the steak escape sandwich, so I always try to go to this Steak Escape in Collierville whenever I can. Not only does the sandwich at this stage escape always taste better, but in addition they will always cook it the way I prefer it. As usual, I asked for my peppers and onions to be well done. I always ask for them to start cooking the peppers and onions before they even put the meat on the grill. I told the cashier this, and she told the cook. I also told the cook. He did not care. He ignored us and threw the steak on the flat top first. Of course my peppers and onions were nowhere near done. He then proceeded to take my sandwich and haphazardly put it together, and he didn't add the extra Mayo I asked for. He wrapped the sandwich and then just stood around until the fries were done.
