I work for Doordash and came here to pick up an order for a customer. Although there was only one other person in front of me at the drive-up, the wait was extremely long. That's understandable, given the late hour and likely minimal staff. What is unacceptable, though, was the attitude of the woman who was working at the window. I told her the name of the customer, which she did not recognize, nor did she know the order number when I gave it to her. She asked me if this was a mobile order. Believing she meant a Doordash order, I said yes. When it was clarified that it was not a mobile order she tried to cast blame on me for the mix-up. Yes, it was my mistake for thinking a mobile order and a Doordash order were the same but as I stated before, I had just given her the customer's name as well as the I.D. number and that should have sufficed. Also, I had already identified myself as a Dasher when I spoke to the same woman on the intercom, and she should have known what type of order I was there to receive when I arrived at the window -- as is custom at every other drive-up; I picked up two orders from the neighboring Taco Bell on the same night without a hitch, and as far as I could tell there was only one person there on duty. I'm giving two stars instead of one but only because the man who finally gave me the order was far more polite and professional. Sorry you were having a bad night, ma'am, but don't take out on others. read more

everytime I go to this location there shake machine is always broken. If the shake machine is broken why can't someone fix it? Someone needs to learn how to fix it. I don't understand how it can be broken so much. Overall the food is good, but could use some work fixing the machines. read more

Clean bathrooms and the employees don't seem like they want to murder you like the Wendy's in the same area. Drive thru set up is a little awkward if there's a line but who's putting that as a legit factor on the review for them? Again nice employees, that's not always a given in fast food read more

This McDonald's I had hoped would improve over the years but it has not. Huge line most times of the day that barely moves. Sign boards always messed up to order, and the staff is just sluggish and often make mistakes. The drive through is so run down it makes me worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen. If minimum wage is raised federally, this place will automate and get rid of all the workers which likely would be the best thing for this place. Has to be mis-managed to allow this kind of poor service for the 5 years we have lived up the street. People can't be that lazy could they?? I would hit the Wendy's across the street off the rotary instead. read more

I used to come to this McDonald's a lot years ago when I lived in the area. Walking back in was a time warp since it has not changed at all in the last 7 years. No touch kiosks, pretty much a straight McD's out of the late 90's early 00's. When I do come here on the road for $1 coffee. Let's be honest, McDonalds is the best deal for decent coffee at the lowest price. I would do that over Dunks and honestly Starbucks any day of the week. As far as McDonalds's would go, I would give this a 3 star for a fast food McD's; however I have to consider that given what other burger restaurants are out there, and is McD's really ever any better than a meh? read more

I'm pretty sure they take forever on purpose in hopes that you'll just drive away. I waited tonight longer than I ever have in a drive thru. I'm definitely an idiot. There was no bus or anything, just insanely slow and very little effort to try and keep things moving. I know this job isn't as easy as everyone thinks. McDonalds has 99 cent coffee. Any size. I recently found this out so have tried to put my mindset to look for a McD's should my caffeine addiction surface. This location was a bit disappointing. Went through the drive up. Ordered 2 coffees. A medium and a large. Window 1 was payment only. Then proceeded to window 2 for pick up. Where we get informed that they only had enough coffee for the large. Instead of a medium hot coffee - could they interest me in an iced coffee? Soft drink? Umm - no. Ok - will I mind waiting while they brew a fresh pot. So now I get a bit excited - fresh brew! (And also wonder how long that other pot had been sitting around!) My coffee finally comes out and is just a few degrees warmer than lukewarm. How do you brew coffee with warm water? It did not have that fresh brewed taste. I'm hardly ever in Ayer so not sure if I'll ever be back. But I am willing to give them a second shot to get coffee brewed correctly. read more

I used to go to this location to get coffee sometimes, but this place is so nasty that I've stopped. There are bugs flying around, the places is just so old and grimy. The men's bathroom is disgusting. There was some kind of flood or damage there a year or so ago and they did a bootleg job of repairing it instead of fixing it properly. Probably dozens of similar issues hidden where you can't see them. Fixtures in men's room are also nasty, growing mold and some kind of green slime. Zero stars. read more

Although this is a typical McDonalds today for lunch they provided my family with extremely friendly customer service. It was my kids first time ordering food on their own and staff were very friendly and supportive to them even though they were busy... I'm great full for their great service today!! read more

The only reason that I didn't put 1 star is because the burgers, fries, and milkshakes are really good. But the reason for the low rating is because I always order a plain cheeseburger and 40% of the time they put ketchup or pickles on it sometimes even both it's so annoying. Like COME ON! Worst service of any McDonald's I have been too. They routinely put cones in the pickup parking so when you arrive you can't park. They lock the doors. You have to use the drive through and it goes at a car every five minutes. When you can get pickup it takes 10 minutes and the food is cold. You can't go in to get it because they lock the doors. Last night I took a group to this McDonald's location after a long night in Boston and was disappointing with the experience we had. The first issue that we ran into was the fact that this spot is supposed to be a 24hr location, but that didn't quite work out. This 24hr rule includes both the drive-thru and dining area, and when we arrived all the doors were locked, even though the door and windows said the dining area was supposed to be open. We finally got back into the vehicle and drove up to the drive-thru. When we got to the speaker we had to wait over 5 minutes to have our order taken, then had to wait an additional 10 minutes to receive our food. Our order consisted of 5 burgers and 2 orders of french fries. The wait time was obnoxious. The other issue was that the staff member taking orders seemed to be overwhelmed and then she also went to make the food. This location needs better staffing at night time. read more

I got a plain filet of fish with just cheese and extra pickles on it. It only came with 2 pickles but whatever I can deal with less pickles. What I found unacceptable was that they only gave me HALF a piece of cheese. Not whole, HALF. THEY LOOKED AT MY ORDER AND SAID "hm. The employees are friendly, but their smiles do not offset their terrible service in delivering the most predicable food service in the history of mankind. This McDonald's has been consistently hit-or-miss for me. The good: generally the service has been friendly, however sometimes absent-minded (more on that later). Dining in hasn't been too terrible in my experience. The bad: the location sucks for drive-thru. It's at an already busy rotary, so during breakfast and lunch hours, the place can get slammed, to the point where people are backing up the surrounding road just to get in for the drive-thru. Regarding the drive-thru, I've had issues (that I didn't discover until I got to work) with incomplete orders, no straws, no napkins, no utensils, or the one time when I ended up getting someone else's half-drank milk. The place does the job though. It's McDonald's. I would definitely kill for more variety in the greater metropolis of Ayer. read more

Amazing breakfast service. The food came out fast and it was amazing, and the employees are very polite and nice to the customers.

The restaurant is clean, and the crew is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is open 24-hours but the McFlurry and shake machine is always conveniently broken at this location after 8 PM. If you are in the mood for a McFluffy, my advice is to not waste your time, avoid the disappointment of finding out the machine is on the fritz (supposedly), and head straight across the rotary to Wendy's for a Frosty. read more

Cannot follow simple directions! Spent 8 minutes in drive thru for 2 bisquits with butter and bacon. After several requests to repeat the order at the speaker, I had to repeat it at the window. I've tried ordering inside the restaurant, drive thru as well as mobile ordering (which is a complete nightmare) and feel that ordering breakfast here will never be quick as promised.... read more

Ordered two fish sandwiches with a medium drink for a total of $5.98. At window I used my phone app for buy one sandwich get one free offer. The worker said my total was $6.72. I said that doesn't make sense I use a coupon and you're charging me more. I said fine let Me pay the normal $5.98. He called Manager over and said sorry it's in the system , can't help you , you have to pay the full price. Both didn't care at all. I paid the full amount but was upset about the principle and the attitudes. I think it was because I was in my police uniform. No response either from McDonald's for two weeks since filed complaint.
